Shang Yangjun’s face was pale. The majestic presence of something like Mount Tai erupted from Qi Lin’s fist. The form of Heaven and Earth as well as the intent of Mount Tai was undoubtedly manifest. Having previously expended too much True Qi, Shang Yangjun was unable to withstand the strike even by using Seventh Deva True Qi, and she subconsciously took a step back.
This step already announced the winner.
Her Seventh Deva True Qi was crushed by Mount Tai. Powerful punch-wind gusted against her and blew her backwards. The girl’s body tilted, completely covered by punch-wind, and fell backwards. Under the Destined Weight Of Mount Tai, her meridians and True Qi were all severed. This injury was enough to set her cultivation back a decade, to turn her from genius to cripple. The girl’s complexion was pale as a sheet, not daring to believe this youth would have such a terrifying ability. She closed her eyes as she prepared to suffer a tragic fate.
All of a sudden, a hand brushed over her skin and wrapped around her waist, propping her up. This hand seemed magical, surprisingly dispelling that enormous, crushing power, averting a fate of breaking her meridians.
Shang Yangjun opened her eyes to see Qi Lin wearing a small smile as he held her.
Everyone was silent.
The men seethed in anger when they saw Qi Lin unexpectedly embrace the number one beauty of the tribe.
“I concede!!” Shang Yangjun sensed her True Qi was in disarray. Qi Lin’s last Weight Of Mount Tai was honestly too frightening. This gave the girl lingering fears, for she knew if they continued to battle, she would only lose even more wretchedly.
“Little Sister, thanks for letting me win.” Qi Lin chuckled.
“Can you let go?” Shang Yangjun bit her lip.
“Yangjun, are you alright?” Qi Lin asked.
“Thank you for your concern.” Shang Yangjun was unresigned. She knew that Qi Lin had supported her in order to help dispel that power.
Qi Lin released his grasp and retreated to the side.
Shang Yangjun took a deep breath and calmed her mind. She turned to face the elevated platform and bowed deeply.
“Yangjun is no match for Shang Xuan. The banner guardian should be Shang Xuan.”
Shang Qi and the other elders’ jaws had dropped. For a moment, they were unable to process what had happened. Events had unfolded too quickly, honestly speaking. The two of them had battled in the arena, quite evenly, opposing one another continuously, but in the end, it was ended by Shang Xuan’s completely simple punch. This was a bit unreasonable. The “Destined Skill” that Qi Lin had utilized was the most mysterious of powers in Primordial World. Only extremely formidable cultivators were able to perceive a bit of it. Even the “True Qi Ninth Deva” Shang Qi was unable to sense the Weight Of Mount Tai that was used against Shang Yangjun. “Uh, elders…” Shang Qi’s puzzled gaze looked awkwardly at the others.
“Yangjun, are you certain you wish to concede?” A female elder asked. As Shang Yangjun was the tribe’s number one genius, the elder honestly did not want the role of banner guardian to go to Shang Xuan.
“Yes, Yangjun’s skills are insufficient. I will concentrate wholly on cultivation in the future.” Shang Yangjun was actually quite unrestrained. On the path of cultivation, only with a heart filled with resolve could one find their true way. The present failure amounted to nothing.
This attitude won the approval of the elders, yet they felt even more regret at the girl’s defeat.
“Shang Xuan!” Shang Qi said sternly.
“Disciple is present!”
“Shang Xuan has won the right to be the banner guardian this time, and thus, this banner shall be bestowed upon Shang Xuan to wield and cultivate. However, King Zhou wishes to begin the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded and has summoned the banners of each of the major tribes to Zhaoge. As you are the banner guardian, you must complete this mission, do you understand?”
“Disciple understands.”
“Shang Yangjun, Shang Meng.” Shang Qi barked.
“Yangjun is present.”
“Meng is present!”
Shang Yangjun and Shang Meng also ascended the arena.
“On this trip to Zhaoge, I command you two to act as law protectors and escort the banner together. There must be no mishaps!”
“We observe all of the elders’ orders.” The two of them answered in unison.
Escorting the banner to Zhaoge was a task of monumental importance. There was little time left for Qi Lin to cultivate, and this made the others feel dissatisfied. “Shang Yangjun, Shang Meng. Rest for now. You will hurry to Zhaoge in three days. Shang Xuan, you may go to the ancestral hall to cultivate the Pixiu Banner for the time being.” Shang Qi said.
“I oppose.” Shang Wei suddenly spoke up.
“Why do you oppose, Elder Wei?” Shang Qi’s brow creased deeply.
“The Pixiu Ancestral Hall is an important place for our tribe. It is where we consecrate our ancestors. This Shang Xuan is not our blood at all. For him to enter the hall and cultivate would perhaps be blasphemy to our ancestors.”
His words caused everyone to whisper, for they were somewhat logical.
Shang Qi coldly said: “The Pixiu Tribe’s blood is an inheritance. This is immutable. Since he was taken in by our tribe and grew up in the tribe, he is one of our children. If our tribe is so inflexible as to reject outsiders, could we have lasted to today?”
Everyone was silent. The Ten Thousand Beasts Barbarian Twelve Tribes were all refugees from the ancient Yin Shang Kingdom’s spread. All of the tribes were constituted from many peoples, and in the end, because King Zhou surnamed them Shang, they were to be guardians of the Ten Thousand Beasts Barbarians. Simply put, their blood actually was not very pure.
“But.”
“Not another word. If you feel it improper for Shang Xuan to cultivate the banner in the ancestral hall, then I shall have him bring it to my home to cultivate.” Shang Qi’s voice boomed and spoke no more.
“Since Clan Elder Shang Qi is so determined, then I have no opinion. If the ancestors are offended and dole out punishment, then Clan Elder must bear the consequences.”
“Hmph.”
“However, for this banner escort to Zhaoge, King Zhou has issued death orders. If the banner fails to arrive in a month, then it will be complete familial extermination. Shang Xuan, don’t you implicate us.” Shang Wei sneered.
Qi Lin blinked but faced Shang Wei calmly.
“Dismissed!”
Shang Qi waved his hand, concluding this competition.
Shang Qi brought Qi Lin to the ancestral hall then handed the banner to him: “You can focus on cultivating the Pixiu Banner for the next three days. After you leave seclusion, I will send for people to act as guards.”
“Many thanks, Clan Elder.”
“En. Do not disgrace the Pixiu Tribe or the name of Pixiu Banner Guardian.” Shang Qi was expressionless: “Since you were able to receive such a lucky encounter, then perhaps this is also your opportunity.”
“Disciple understands.”
Shang Qi handed that Pixiu Banner to Qi Lin. Then, he dispatched more of the tribe’s warriors to stand guard outside.1
After entering the ancestral hall, Qi Lin first gave offerings to the ancestors. Then, he arrived at the center of the hall and planted the Pixiu Banner into the ground.
From up close, this banner appeared even more majestic and old, full of an ancient air.
Qi Lin sat beneath the banner and exercised the Black And White Mixed Origin Chant. The banner glowed with bright and dark lights. Black and white lights emerged from the banner, swirling together to form the Taiji around Qi Lin.
Qi Lin immediately sensed the soul technique’s Realm rapidly improve, and the Primordial True Qi in his body quickly grew and withered under the black and white qi.
It was incredible. He was merely sitting under the one of the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banners, but using just this one for cultivation was much faster than before. Qi Lin exercised the Nine Yins Nine Yangs. The Pixiu Banner’s black and white qi were a perfect match with the Nine Yins Nine Yangs, sinking into the Fortune Body. The Yin Yang Fortune Body absorbed the qi of the pixiu, and the clear top and turbid bottom split from each other. As expected, the power of this Pixiu Banner and the Yin Yang Fortune Body were practically a seamless match. Qi Lin immediately sensed his Realm increase.
If this continued, the Three Yins Three Yangs would also have a chance to be completed.
Thinking of this, Qi Lin began to cultivate with more focus.
Three days instantly passed. This was honestly too short a time for any cultivation.
Three Bronze Warhorses, Shang Yangjun, and Shang Meng waited at the ancestral hall. Shang Qi and the others arrived to find the gate still shut.
“Has Shang Xuan not come out yet?”
“Yes.”
“That bastard did not run off with the Pixiu Banner, did he??”
Shang Qi furrowed his brow and was about to enter the hall.
The gate slowly opened. All of a sudden, majestic True Qi rushed out like a tidal wave. Everyone outside was caught unprepared and left a bit shocked.
“This is True Qi Sixth Deva?”
Everyone was stunned.
