She was a Star Name, one who had inherited a Destined name, one who possessed talent and power surpassing that of cultivators’. Even if she had used only 25% of her strength, a Qi Refinement Ninth Deva cultivator could not possibly trap her, and the mystery of the strange techniques this man in front of her had used were unfathomable even to her. His resilience and perseverance spurred the axe on her back into restlessness.

“What is your name?”

Feilian retracted the Ten Thousand Beasts Amulet and asked.

“Your Servant is Shang Xuan of the Pixiu Tribe.” Qi Lin replied.

“Shang Xuan…Very good, come with me to see the Great King, now.” Feilian said.

Qi Lin’s heart stopped. In Zhaoge, meeting King Zhou was an honor not worth having, where life and death could hardly be anticipated. “I will have the Great King confer upon you a position to serve in Yin Shang.” Feilian could see his thinking, and she expressionlessly explained.

“Many thanks for the consideration, General.” Qi Lin feigned a grateful appearance.

Elai and Guiguzi Wang Xu also hurried over just as they heard Feilian’s words. Elai’s expression turned displeased.

“All of you are dismissed. You as well, wait outside the hall.” Every line on the woman’s face appeared cold and cruel, but her tone and conduct appeared much warmer than Elai’s, making everyone unwittingly feel at ease.

“This child need not follow you in the future, Wang Xu. Leave future matters to Yin Shang.” Feilian said.

Wang Xu nodded. Her training of Qi Lin was originally was supposed to end with the beginning of the Ten Thousand beasts Unbounded Banner.

After the rest departed, Elai unhappily said: “Feilian, is this not making a fuss over nothing. He is a Qi Refinement Ninth Deva cultivator. Yin Shang has countless others, why make the Great King personally confer a position unto him.”

“I believe this child has great potential. He was able to reach such a Realm without ingesting the Tear of Blood. That boxing technique just now was very independent and original. In Yin Shang, there are countless Qi Refinement Ninth Deva cultivators, but not a single one of them are like him, more unfathomable than even a Golden Core cultivator.” Feilian coolly analyzed.

Elai twitched her mouth, still dissatisfied.

“I know about your relationship with Wang Xu, but right now, the Great King needs capable people. There can be no mistakes in the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded. Giving him a post will allow him to serve Yin Shang with peace of mind.” Feilian’s eyes stared fixedly at Elai. The woman’s slender pupils were like a snake’s, calm yet forceful.

Elai could not refute her.

“I’m so jealous of that Shang Xuan, to actually be able to receive General Feilian’s recognition, and he’s even being conferred an office. I’m too jealous.”

“Yes, but he has this potential!”

“En. Just what lucky encounter did this Shang Xuan have. Wasn’t he a wolf child unable to refine qi?”

“Unable to refine qi? You must be blind, didn’t you see he’s Qi Refinement Ninth Deva? And his is so strong. Our tribe’s chief has cultivated Primordial True Qi for five decades, and he doesn’t give me this feeling. Qi Lin truly is…unfathomable.”

The barbarian disciples received permission to return to camp. They were able to drill the formation and were able to relax much more.

Upon mention of Qi Lin, every disciple began to change their initial disdain to admiration.

To be able to make General Elai, General Feilian, Guiguzi Wang Xu and the Great King all favor him enormously in the span of a month, this simply was like a dream. Many people began to ask Shang Yangjun and Shang Meng about Qi Lin. Shang Yangjun gave no answer, as usual, and Shang Meng also roused from his bloodthirst and began to boast about him enormously.

Shang Shiwu, however, was not so cheerful. The strongest among the Twelve Tribes was originally him. He was supposed to have been manifestly superior in this banner formation, to receive everyone’s adoration, but now, that wolf child Shang Xuan had completely stolen his spotlight; Shang Xuan’s reputation was skyrocketing among these disciples.

Shang Shiwu gloomily listened to the surrounding compliments, leaving him very repulsed.

“Big Brother Shiwu, let’s not bother about him. Shang Xuan has been given an office by Yin Shang, we must be courteous when we see him from now on.”

“I feel Shang Xuan honestly isn’t bad, quite likable.”

“That Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded formation was also wonderful, to actually be able to trap even General Feilian. I must ask him how he thought of it.”

“All of you, shut up and cultivate.” Shang Shiwu scolded them, irritated beyond compare.

If Qi Lin was conferred an insignificant post, that would be fine, but if he was given a post at three huang,1 level five or above, there was no helping it. Even his Golden Core Ancestral master could not possibly offend an Yin Shang three huang official for his sake.

Deer Terrace.

This was Qi Lin’s second time coming to the sacred palace of Zhaoge. In less than a month, an important character of Zhaoge had brough him to mee King Zhou. This had never happened before among the barbarian tribes, let alone the entirety of the Shang Kingdom.

“What cultivation method do you practice? It surprisingly contains the concepts of hardness and softness, life and death, black and white?”

Along the way, Feilian could not help but ask.

“Answering to the general, this technique was a blessing in disguise, one that I received from a Liangyizi cultivator in an ancient cave as I was fleeing for my life. Its name is Dual Modes Seal.” Qi Lin spoke honestly, knowing he could not hide it from her.

Feilian was slightly impressed. If he had told a lie, she would have known, yet this man was actually very forthright. “Liangyizi, Dual Modes Seal! Hm…” Feilian’s curiosity was slightly piqued. She seemed to have some sort of recollection, but she could not recall what.

Entering the Deer Terrace, not a single thing had changed from the last time. King Zhou Di Xin was reclining on a woman’s naked body, suckling her chest, feeling her heartbeat while there were endless dancers and musicians.

Bi Gan was startled to see Qi Lin again, but she could not conceal her body. She could only once again let this young man see her.

Qi Lin suppressed the surging qi and blood in his body. For better or for worse, he was a male. To always be happening upon such a situation, did these women not realize he would behave worse than a beast.

“Great King!”

Qi Lin lowered his head while Feilian stepped forward.

“General Feilian, how is practice of the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner? Has this man committed a mistake?” Di Xin’s eyes narrowed as she indulged in her luxury.

“The Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner has been very successful. They need only a few more days of training to flawless for certain.” Feilian said, presenting the Ten Thousand Beasts jade strip in her hand.

“Good, good.” King Zhou Di Xin nodded in satisfaction, her gaze once again settling on the man.

“What mistake has this man made that you bring him to the Deer Terrace. Execute him as you wish, no need to ask This King.” Di Xin waved her hand.

“This boy is Shang Xuan, who has shown merit in drilling for the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner. Feilian requests that the Great King confer upon him the title of gongcheng2 and put the Ten Thousand Beasts Banner under his command.” Feilian said.

“Shang Xuan? Hm…How does it seem that This King heard this name before.” Di Xin wrinkled her brow.

Bi Gan carefully spoke: “Great King, he is that barbarian boy that you rewarded after he survived the dismemberment.”

Di Xin had never paid too much care to the names of ants. Only after her reminder did she have some recollection, and Di Xin’s eyes brightened. Finally, she looked straight at Qi Lin. “Raise your head, This King shall allow you to gaze upon Us.”

“Many thanks, Great King.” Qi Lin raised his head and met the scene of debauchery.

Bi Gan could not find anything to hide herself with and could only shyly turn away.

Di Xin did not mind exposing Bi Gan. She praised him: “A person can always discover the brilliance of a true pearl no matter where it is. That you were able to receive Feilian’s recommendation, it seems you are indeed somewhat capable. Fine, then This King shall confer upon you the ‘Second-Order Distingushed Accomplishment’3 and five jade huang,4 General of the Ten Thousand Beasts Banner.”

Qin and Han had a twenty ranks system; Second-Order Distinguished Accomplishment was the fifteenth rank and acted as deputy to the second highest, Distinguished Accomplishment, and it wielded its own political and military influence. The maids and guards in the surroundings were a bit astonished. Qi Lin thought he was more or less this level, so he knelt in gratitude.

“But this is only temporary. Only when the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner succeeds will you be conferred this title. For now, you will act as the General of the Ten Thousand Beasts and wear five huang.” Di Xin changed the topic. Although she appeared licentious and hedonistic, judging by how collected she was in conferring titles, the King Zhou in front of him was very much clearheaded. Such a person’s outward frivolity was merely a deception. He feared her inner mind was unfathomable.

“Why are you not thanking the Great King. Serve the Great King with all your might until death.” Feilian reminded him.

Qi Lin thanked her.

“En, the rest of you may withdraw. This King shall speak with Feilian.” King Zhou dismissed everyone. Qi Lin glanced at Bi Gan, who collected her clothes. She was a bit embarrassed, a seemingly familiar scene.

“Lord Bi Gan, I shall escort you.” Qi Lin said.

“Thank you…I should call you General.” Bi Gan bashfully smiled.

“Feilian, why do you put so much value on a man. Could it be that you and Huang Feihu are the same, are you in search of a retainer?” Di Xin’s expression changed, recovering her imperial gravity.

“Even if Feilian contracts with an attendant, I will certainly swear allegiance to the Great King until death, until this body disintegrates.” Feilian knelt and submissively bowed her head.

Di Xin sighed. “The Register of Deities, eh…It is not strange at all for you to be have such thoughts when you see such a highly talented attendant. This King does not blame you, but Huang Feihu has not yet returned ever since she received her emissary. This King thinks she ought to be dead.”

Feilian was silent.

“If this boy is truly useful, then use him. Karmic tribulation, destiny tribulation, Invested Deity tribulation. Even if we have only the luck of the Yin Shang, mishaps may rise. Keeping around some means to save our lives is always the right choice. For us, such is the use of emissaries.” Di Xin fully showed the great skill she had in strategy. This was the one who was able to topple the Great Zhou, the one able to rule over the Western Wildlands.

Feilian was moved to tears: “Feilian will observe him well. If this boy can achieve great merit in the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner, Feilian will give him a chance.”

“This King is of the same mind.” Both lord and official were in agreement.

Feilian originally also wanted to ask about Liangyizi, but for some reason, her heart was a bit uneasy, as if this cultivator’s name would bring about variables to their agreement. Therefore, the woman chose to be silent. And her silence was in full view of Di Xin’s eyes.
