The Soul Returning Lanterns lit up in the surroundings. The veil of dusk became bright, and the air emitted a faint aroma.
Shadows lengthened along the wall’s murals.
“These Soul Returning Lanterns are good for cultivating the soul.” Qi Lin was reluctant to leave these lanterns be. Cultivating the soul as a Golden Core Stage cultivator was overly arduous; completion required training year round, and the smallest accident would destroy the soul. With the Soul Returning Lantern, he could protect his soul from dispersing, a useful function indeed.
“Big Brother, what’s in here?” Qi Qi saw that Qi Lin was staring at the Soul Returning Lantern. She reached out in confusion to grab one.
The Great Sage Equal Of Heaven possessed Divine Energy, and this contact seized a large piece of the congealed lantern.
“Careful.” Before Qi Lin could finish.
The black bugs that were congealed below the oil suddenly woke with a start. Countless strange black mosquitoes flew out, congregating into monstrous shadows of black light. These shadows morphed into a demonic face that let out a gusting voice: “You have intruded into a forbidden area, leave immediately!”
After speaking, this black shadow surrounding Qi Qi.
“Roar!!”
An ape’s furious bellow shook the ruins, nearly jolting apart the rocks.
That shadow was repelled by Qi Qi’s roar.
Qi Qi brandished her Meteoric Iron Divine Staff, which carried a scorching wind that blew all of these bugs into ash.
“Big Brother, what is this thing.” Qi Qi wrinkled her brow. She had copper muscles and iron bone, a cloak of Divine Energy protecting her body. These ancient bugs were fundamentally unable to harm the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven.
“Are you alright?” Qi Lin nervously approached. He grabbed the girl’s arm and inspected it carefully.
Qi Qi was blank. She did not understand why her big brother was concerned about these mosquitoes.
“The Great Sage is outside the Five Elements. Born of spirit stone, the bugs are useless against her.” The white ape matter-of-factly said.
“So that’s how it is.” Qi Lin’s eyes gleamed: “That’s great. Qi Qi, let’s hurry and gather more lantern oil.”
“What are we doing extracting the oil?” Qi Qi was not very interested.
“This lantern oil was extracted from the organs of the Giant Soul Whale ten thousand meters under the Western Sea. It will never melt. If a cultivator trains under this fire, they can maintain their soul. It is a very good material for Golden Core Stage cultivators training for Primordial Infant.” The white ape explained.
“White ape, you are quite knowledgeable.” Qi Lin raised his brow. It was a bit surprising that the ape was knowledgeable about even the Western Sea’s matters.
“This Old Ape cultivated in an ancient cave and has read countless records of ancient cultivators, learned things.”
Qi Lin grunted. He did not want to bother about this.
Learning that this lantern oil was of use to her big brother’s cultivation, Qi Qi swept away her previous indolence. Her figure leapt about the corridor, each and every Soul Returning Lantern’s flame snuffed out under her fingers. These ancient bugs that had been shackled in the oil could easily kill Golden Core and even Primordial Infant Stage cultivators, but they were completely useless against Qi Qi. White Emperor Shaohao could not possibly have thought that a famous High Ancient Divine Realm Divine Name would come to this pill hall. Very quickly, this pill hall’s lantern oil was all taken by Qi Qi.
Ever since he knew that High Ancient Divine Realm Divine Name was actually so mighty, he could be more relaxed about what came next.
This new pill hall’s Luan Pill Cauldron had a Mystery Silver Guard, as expected. Qi Qi wasted no time destroying it. After they obtained this Luan Pill Cauldron, Qi Lin breathed a sigh of relief. Even if he was unable to save the Illusionary Flying Snow on this mission, he had at least accomplished half of what he set out to do.
Then, Qi Lin began to search search for the passage to the lower level in the pill hall.
The depressing thing was that this pill hall was completely sealed up, unlike ruins that had secret passageways. If there truly were three levels like Wu Gu said, then there should be a bright and dark path.
Just when Qi Lin was at wit’s end, all of a sudden, a weak groan came from the darkness. Qi Lin sensed a small shock to his soul, and a strange scene appeared in his mind. A white-clothed woman was engaged with a monstrous creature in battle.
“Big Brother, what’s the matter with you?”
Qi Lin’s head ached. The scene grew increasingly desperate.
That battle scene was apparently nearby.
Qi Lin did not say a word. He turned and used an escape technique to leave the pill hall, arriving at the outside corridor. He then spotted a bridge, and under the bridge was an endless abyss, a pitch darkness with no bottom in sight. The scene in his mind was increasingly even more clear; it was that girl Xuesha battling the beast.
What was happening?
Qi Lin was a bit confused as to how she suddenly appeared in his mind.
That scene was as distinct as a film. Xuesha’s movements were like lightning, swift as the wind. A tap of her toes directly launched her onto the monster’s front paw. Her foot gently tapped, as if she was walking on shattered ice, and an icicle jutted out from her foot. It was a pity that the beast thought that it had seized the advantage. Along with a snapping sound, its entire body suddenly bent over.
A glaring white bone suddenly jutted out from its skin, and an enormous geyser of blood spurt out. Suddenly, the beautiful dream became one of anguish. A mournful howl immediately echoed around. However, the terrible beast below this ruin had failed to take into account the intense pain racking its body. Suddenly, it opened its mouth, and another head flew out from inside its mouth, which opened its mouth at the same time. A giant pillar of flame immediately rushed out from its mouth, engulfing everything two zhang in front of its mouth.
The high temperature made the air shimmer with mirages, illuminating the dim terrain. The surroundings were surprisingly full of innumerable human effigies. These effigies were quite unsettling under the fire light, as if their faces were warped into grins.
Xuesha deployed a new barrier of light in front of her, stopping the flames. She gestured, and several star-lights descended like swords.
“Puff!”
The power of the star-lights accurately struck that monster’s head. The enormous force suddenly deflated that fire-spewing mouth as well, and the blaze was promptly abated, surprisingly spurting out from the nostrils instead, along with a large amount of blood and red chunks of meat. The other head was unable to breathe fire as well. The immense pain made the beast’s large head suddenly rear up, and a shrill shriek echoed through the ruins again.
This ability was beyond any cultivator. It was more like a type of Destined Skill.
Without giving the monster any time to react, the girl in the cap as white as snow, with her gaze cold as ice, her white clothes aflutter, her beauty that seemed carved of black ice showing no signs of movement, spread her five fingers. Star-lights then twinkled in the darkness.
The girl landed, her foot atop that still wailing monster. Suddenly, immense force directly forced that head down, and an enormous hole appeared on the top. A fountain of blood spurt forth, and the scream came to an abrupt stop.
The girl’s techniques were like divine skills, beautiful and graceful, leaving Qi Lin enchanted as well. Just when the girl was prepared to land the killing blow, all of a sudden, a change appeared. With two loud bangs, two identical beasts unexpectedly burst out from the ground.
“Bang.”
Their maws opened and bit down.
Qi Lin was unable to stand by and watch. Without another thought, he leapt down into the abyss below the bridge.
