Once inside Changliu, the atmosphere became extremely humid and hot, the same as a dense rainforest. Countless mosquitoes and flies filled their vision, and these pests had received the nourishment of medicinal energy. Not only were they abnormally large, they also emitted the bitter scent of medicine. The general cultivator’s power was basically unable to ward off these bugs, so Qi Lin had no choice but to use magical energy to drive them away.

“Do not move.” Seeing Qi Lin endlessly irritated, Wu Gu took out a bottle and sprayed its contents on him.

It was a bit like a perfume, however, once sprayed on him, those bloodsucking pests immediately flew off when they tried to bite him.

The pair continued on their way. Along the way, Qi Lin asked Wu Gu about some of the Shaman Spirit Kingdom’s matters, intentionally or otherwise. As they chatted, Qi Lin also gradually came to understand some of the details surrounding the Immortality Secret Medicine. The Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain appeared united on the surface, but the truth was that there was fierce internal strife. In order to vie for the greatest authority in Ten Shamans City, the Ten Shamans all racked their brains. The Immortality Banquet was just one important method.

After walking several hours without incident, Qi Lin could not help but recall when he and his senior sister excavated the “Immortality Tomb.”

That was one of the most perilous tomb explorations in his life, second only to the Heavenly Book Tomb. He spent no less than a year to completely leave that most mysterious and unimaginable mausoleum in Chinese history. It was also during that excavation that his icy senior sister finally opened her heart to him. Thinking back on it, he could not help but sigh and reminisce.

“Which girl are you thinking about?” Wu Gu said meaningfully.

Qi Lin grinned.

The rainforest was endless, and the scents inside gradually grew more and more concentrated. Wu Gu also turned cautious, “This place has Golden Core Late Stage Strange Beasts. Be wary.” The woman exhorted.

“Golden Core Late Stage?” Qi Lin was astonished. “There are some this strong?”

“En. This place’s Strange Beasts have received Shaohao’s Divine Energy and the nourishment of the Hundred Herbs, so they are very strong.” Wu Gu’s expression was very serious, “In the past, when we Ten Shamans came, we nearly died here. Later, we did not dare enter the deepest level’s sacrificial grounds ever again.”

Qi Lin nodded and put up his guard.

Not long after Wu Gu’s warning.

Roar.

An enormous beast charged out from the forest. Its massive body was like a black cloud, and a pair of fleshy wings spanning several meters sprouted from its back. This beast’s head was like a cross between a crow and a snake while its claws, which numbered more than a centipede’s, endlessly shifted about; each claw was like a sharp sword.

This Strange Beast was Golden Core Middle Stage in Realm.

“So it is a ‘Bird-eater.’ Seems we are near our objective.” Wu Gu was not surprised. She raised her brow and instead calmed down.

Roar!

As if one was not enough, another monstrous Bird-eater rushed out of the forest. These terrible Stagne Beasts possessed superb assault capabilities as well as capture abilities. Even the Golden Core Late Stage cultivators who hunted in the Fog Spirit Sea were unwilling to encounter these nightmares.

“Stand back.” Wu Gu’s eyes were calm as usual, yet her smile was graceful and proud.

The Bird-eaters roared then launched their attack.

They flapped their wings, and the numerous sharp legs under their bellies echoed with what was like the clattering of small bugs. Their distinct heads had only fangs.

In the blink of an eye, numerous heads nipped at them, and a thick miasma quietly covered the surrounding hundred meters.

A while later, the Bird-eaters panted, hissed and drooled saliva. According to the judgment of their undeveloped brains, there were very few cultivators in Changliu who could withstand them.

“Not one bit of progress.” Wu Gu’s ice-cold voice pierced through the miasma.

The woman pointed her finger, and a sharp sword floated up.

This sword split apart into a dozen sword-shadows that slashed against the Bird-eaters.

The two Bird-eaters screeched and launched a ferocious assault.

The woman tapped pointed her finger, and a red-light spurted out from her fingertip. She jumped, and like a nimble swallow, soared upwards. One of the Bird-eaters was basically unable to track the target. It saw a crimson light zip over its body at high speed like it was painting a beautiful picture scroll. In the end, a polygonal design appeared on its body.

Qi Lin had no plans to make a move himself when he saw that Wu Gu could handily take care of a Golden Core Middle Stage Demon Beast. He retreated on top of an unremarkable tree and quietly survey the area.

Among the Ten Shamans, Wu Gu was quite powerful indeed, perhaps even capable of handling a Primordial Infant Realm cultivator. She would hardly break a sweat against these Bird-eaters.

“She’s so kind to have brought me to Changliu to look for a Luan Pill Cauldron, I wonder what her intentions are.” Qi Lin thought to himself. A Luan Pill Cauldron could allow Wu Xian’s medicine refinement abilities to progress by leaps and bounds, so there was no way Wu Gu did not feel the same. For the moment, he would still need to be on his guard against this woman.

The rainforest’s humidity was thick, causing a bit of difficulty with breathing.

For the first time, Qi Lin felt sweat drop along his back. The more he perspired, the more he felt like he had returned to excavating the Immortality Tomb.

As he scanned around, Qi Lin’s gaze looked into the depths of the forest. He suddenly noticed a clearing in the woods ahead.

In the open space, amidst the murky humidity, Qi Lin noticed there was a woman’s figure quietly watching him.

This woman was expressionless, her face like a portrait, her eyes like millennial black ice. That gaze of hers seemed abled to peer into a person’s heart. This was a gaze that Qi Lin could never forget.

Senior Sister?

Qi Lin was stunned.

Qi Lin did not dare believe he would encounter his senior sister in this place. He forced himself with all his might to remain calm. Even in the most dangerous tombs, where there were the most narrow of escapes, he could maintain a heart as steady as Mount Tai, but at this moment, it was still pounding fiercely.

Qi Lin sensed he was unable to control his heart. He wanted to call out to her, but every sound caught in his throat.

On Earth, because he had carried on the family activity of tomb-raiding, he had earned the enmity of his parents. In the modern family, tomb-raiding had already become accursed, a synonym for incomprehensible. Even if he did it in the name of Chinese archaeology, it did not change his family’s perspective. They were so cold to him; his parents did not even look at him. It could be said that his senior sister was the person he was closest to.

To see a familiar person here all of a sudden, Qi Lin’s heart was basically unable to stop its excitement.

The woman daintily walked over, her figure becoming increasingly clear.

Her eyes were limpid as water, her skin glossy as ice.

Even in this environment, her beauty was still refined, untouched by filth.

Qi Lin had once joked that his senior sister “had no match in the entire world, the most unique person of all time.” He could never forget this distinctive feeling. Qi Lin wanted to shout out her name, but he found his voice was frozen in his throat. No matter what he did, he could not speak, and his frantic heart was about to explode.

Just when his senior sister was about to get close, Wu Gu suddenly attacked from the flank. She held a crimson sword that was like a chain, and with one swing, beheaded Qi Lin’s senior sister.

Qi Lin’s blood suddenly chilled to absolute zero.

Never had he exuded such fierce murderous intent. Qi Lin brought forth the Heaven-shaking Bow and Cloud-piercing Arrow, aiming squarely at Wu Gu.

Bang.

The sound of the bowstring.

Heaven shook.

The birds and beasts scattered in fright.

“What…are you doing!!” Wu Gu was shocked, having been wounded by the arrow.

“I want you to pay with your life!!” Qi Lin saw red. He used Weight Of Mount Tai and Jian Destroys Six Kingdoms, unleashing both Destined Skills upon Wu Gu.

Wu Gu’s face was ashen. She never imagined that a Golden Core Early Stage man could be so formidable.

“Destined Skill – All Spirits Source Return!”

The woman pointed, and her body emanated rays of light that collided with Qi Lin’s abilities.

The forest suddenly heaved an enormous groan, and the Bird-eaters disintegrated under the pair’s immense power.
