This burial pit for figures ran long and deep, and it was filled with the figures. They were enormous in build, with features that were true to life. Each figure also contained a strange bone.

The figures were all remarkably well-preserved, the dust sealing them in time, each detail vivid and lifelike. Qi Lin’s tomb-raiding interest was piqued, and he searched through these figure ditches for clues, slowly investigating. In China’s Classic of Burials, the emperor would always build figures of servants to be buried with them, symbolizing the ability to fight even after death. Qin Shi Huang’s terracotta army was a very famous example. However, imperial tombs always had their own particulars. The number of objects in the underground dark palace, the arrangement of the funerary offerings in the burial pit, all of these had considerable rules, unlike the tomb of a typical noble, which could be as one pleased.

Imperial tombs were concerned with power and prestige, so Qin Shi Huang’s terracotta army could be said to be unprecedented and unsurpassed.

Primordial World naturally could not be modeled after his experience on Earth, but given the adoration for the Immemorial Royal Family, there should at least be some related logic.

Xuesha watched Qi Lin attempt to unravel the mystery of these figure pits, a bit unable to comprehend this. In her eyes, only the treasures, funerary offerings, and relics inside the Immemorial Royal Family’s tombs and ruins could attract her attention. The rules and mysteries of these tombs were somewhat unorthodox.

The figurine pit probably was several hundred meters deep. The pair finally arrived at the end of the ditch.

There was an even larger figure standing in the darkness at the end. This figure was probably more than five or six meters tall, as if it was a commander. There was a saying that could describe this feeling, “a crane among chickens.” This even taller figure had even more exquisite details, as if one could even see the scene of the bone inside being fabricated into the figure.

“There is no path inside.”

Xuesha stopped.

Qi Lin noticed that they had already reached the end of this ditch. In front of them was a large stone wall, the thickness of which was impervious to his Divine Intent. “Impossible, I’ve already searched the other places.” Qi Lin was unconvinced. This kind of troop arrangement was so meticulous, that according to the Classic Of Burial, a dark path to the next level down was certain to exist.

The pair searched the surroundings and indeed did not see any other ways out.

This left Qi Lin feeling conflicted. If he was to go back now, then they would fall completely behind the Ten Shamans. It would be basically be too late to warn the Illusionary Flying Snow.

Qi Lin searched again, his gaze finally stopping on this massive figure.

“Big Brother, there’s a character and a mural here.” Qi QI said.

Bringing the Soul Returning Lantern near, a mural appeared on the wall at the end of the pit. This was quite an extensive battle scene depiction. In it was a woman with armor as white as frost, and the long sword in her hand was ordering an attack. The ones she faced were a tall and long-horned people.

As the mural showed, the white-armored woman was like a hot knife through butter, completely routing these people.

In the end, there was a mural depicting that an artisan took these prisoners of war and fabricated them into the figures.

Without a doubt, the white-armored woman was none other than White Emperor Shaohao.

“Corpse of Xia Geng!!”

A phrase suddenly entered Qi Lin’s vision.

“What?” Xuesha was confused.

The “Classic Of Mountains and Sea, Western Classic of Great Primordial” documented that no one was to approach Yuan during the Dashu. There is a man without a hand, standing tall with spear and shield, named the Corpse of Xia Geng. Xia Geng was an official of the last king of Xia, Xia Jie, tasked with guarding Mount Zhang. When Shang Tang deposed Jie, Xia Geng was also beheaded, yet Xia Geng’s soul did not die. It fled to Mount Wu and became the Corpse of Xia Geng. Although he had no brain, he could still wield a spear and shield, loyally guarding Mount Wu to the end.

“I understand now. The race that Shaohao subjugated back then should be the Xia Geng. Later, they were killed, trapped here, made into figures and sacrificed for hundreds of medicines.” Qi Lin presented his theory.

Xuesha nodded, feeling this was a bit reasonable.

“I’m afraid we’ll have to take a risk.” Qi Lin suddenly said.

“Hm?”

“Xuesha, you won’t mind taking a risk with me?” Qi Lin looked at the girl.

“Oh.”

Xuesha was noncommittal.

“Could it be you have found the exit?”

“The exit might be behind this commander figure.” Qi Lin already thought of this possibility.

During the construction of hidden exits to ruins, some exits often would be concealed by pouring sealants or other materials. This way, they were hidden from notice. This giant figure standing here absolutely was for a purpose, and it should be the entrance to the Earth Sacrifice level.

However, to be so well hidden, Shaohao must also have hidden some sort of mechanism, especially with the Corpse of Xia Geng clan meticulously placed here. Primordial World held boundless mystery, far from what Qi Lin’s tomb-raiding knowledge could understand, and he could only offer the girl relief by nipping things in the bud.

“Is that so?” Xuesha glanced over curiously.

Qi Qi punched this giant figure. With a bang, the figure’s shell of mud shattered. At this moment, as Qi Lin anticipated, this figure was awakened. This ditch full of figures suddenly was illuminated, and an invisible network under the ground became visible. These network lines were like a spiderweb, surprisingly connecting all of the figures.

“Oh, shit!”

Qi Lin cried out in alarm.

Roar.

With a furious bellow, a headless armored skeleton walked out from the remains of this commander figure. Afterwards, the other figures stirred one after another and crumbled. As if emerging from coffins, an armored skeleton walked out of each of the figures. These skeleton was practically the same as the Corpses of Xia Geng depicted in the murals; they were indeed Corpses of Xia Geng.

“We stand watch over the Sacrifices to Earth. Offenders to the figures, you shall remain trapped here for eternity.”

A gloomy, mysterious voice came from the Corpses of Xia Geng, resonating through the ditch.

“Mere skeletons dare to be impudent in front of This Old Sun.” Qi Qi sneered and swung her staff at the commander.

The Corpse of Xia Geng raised its shield and blocked Qi Qi’s attack while its spear immediately slashed afterwards. Fiend-qi rolled over its spear, oppressive as a black cloud. Qi Qi grit her teeth and was repelled by this impure qi.

The Corpse of Xia Geng brandished its weapon and continuously attacked. As expected, this Corpse of Xia Geng possessed extraordinarily ferocious martial arts even without a head, but its non-existent eyes seemed to see through everything, for it avoided all of Qi Qi’s attacks.

The other Corpses of Xia Geng sensed that Qi Lin and Xuesha were also invaders and brandished their weapons.

None of these were ordinary corpse warriors. As if still retaining a bit of the Divine Energy from the Immemorial Period, they were surprisingly powerful. Qi Lin and Xuesha used their own abilities to fight back.

“Eat This Old Sun’s staff!!” Qi Qi swung her Meteoric Iron Divine Staff and roared in fury.

The iron staff’s truly heaven-shattering power smashed into the Corpse of Xia Geng’s back.

With a tremendous noise, the commander Corpse of Xia Geng was immediately shattered to bits by the strike.

“Hmph, insignificant talent yet you dared to act all high and mighty.” Qi Qi smirked and ruthlessly vented.

But in the next instant, Qi Qi froze.

That fragmented Corpse of Xia Geng surprisingly reassembled itself and was whole once again.

“Roar.”

Ghosts howled, turbid qi surged, and the Corpse of Xia Geng roared as it charged Qi Qi.
