The quill swords circled in the air and spiraled into a mysterious sword array. This sword array implicitly conformed with the Bagua, displaying Nine Zhen and Six Li. At once, there was thunder, wind, and fire in a brilliant simultaneous showing, far more powerful than a Golden Core cultivator’s sword-chant. Qi Lin inwardly thought that the Strange Beasts under the Kunlun Mountains were indeed unfathomable. Just this one ability corresponded to the Bagua’s mystery, not something the ordinary Demon Beast could compare to.

The female cultivator facing the Strange Beast was Golden Core Late Stage, and the long sword in her hand was like a rainbow.

She muttered an incantation, and the multi-colored light rays that descended also circled the skies, linking into a rainbow-like chain, a beautiful sight. This rainbow sword dispersed and completely wrapped around the quill brute’s quill sword array in an instant.

But this quill brute was truly treacherous, for its pincers snapped at the woman.

Cold light flashed, and the girl used a wonderful body technique to move like a fish back in water. She nimbly dodged and evaded, but she was still injured by the gust from the pincers.

“Elder Sister Shi Xuan.”1 Chang cried out in surprise. It appeared the two were acquainted.

Chang ran out, her delicate hands moving, raising a silver plate of light. This plate was like a shining moon, its silver light blinding, emitting an air of warmth. This silver plate fired a beam of light that covered that Shi Xuan woman.

Qi Qi glanced at her big brother, but Qi Lin hinted to her to not intervene.

He was still not very clear about the details of these people, and they had best not reveal her identity as the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven.

Shi Xuan received healing from the silver light, and her essence, qi, and spirit were somewhat rejuvenated. She cried out, “Sword-qi Rainbow!” Her white hand flicked, and that rainbow chain quivered like a ribbon. Then, it became seven sword-lights that attacked the quill brute.

The quill brute’s armor was honestly sturdy. The Sword-qi Rainbow merely pushed the quill brute back a few steps and for it to retract its pincers.

Qi Lin saw that it was time for the “hero to save the beauty.” Just as he was about to take action, the distant forest broke open layer by layer, and there was a thunderclap. A blue seal suddenly appeared in the sky above. This seal was white on top, jadeite on bottom, and it was covered in spiritual qi. The blue seal was about the size of a fist, appearing quite small, yet it gave one a sense of limitless might, as if it were larger than the heavens.

This blue seal was extremely formidable. Qi Lin surprisingly felt that his limbs were unable to budge under its power. It contained Primordial Infant Realm level magical energy. If this seal were to strike someone dead, it would perhaps happen in the blink of an eye.

Fortunately, this blue seal’s target was not him but that quill brute.

The blue seal hurtled towards the quill brute, emitting a crisp noise. This quill brute was ferocious. It was pounded black and blue by the seal, with several of its quills snapped apart, yet it did not fall. On the contrary, it was very berserk, raising its pincers to crush the two girls.

These pincers used an ability. They attacked like storm clouds, not letting go of even the soul At this time, a shadow rushed out of the forest. That man’s face was like a red jujube, and he had a large and stocky build. He raised his hands and surprisingly seized the pincers using some sort of ability. The veins on his arms bulged, and each arm coiled around the pincers like dragons.

The quill brute was indeed an Immemorial Strange Beast. Even restrained like this, it still did not fall. It once again fired all of its quills towards the sky. Shi Xuan sneered, and her rainbow chain hung suspended over the quill brute’s body like a galaxy. The blue seal smashed the quill brute again, causing it to screech.

Just at this moment, there was a deafening boom.

A flaming hot arrow shot directly over. Wherever this arrow passed, raging flames burned. The arrow-light carried a powerful energy that instantly pierced through the quill brute’s armor and straight into its organs. That quill brute was defeated by the three powerful abilities. In particular, this last arrow had stuck it through the heart. Its sharpness was beyond anything Qi Lin had ever seen.

“Elder Sister Shi Xuan.” Chang ran to Shi Xuan’s side and used the silver plate to heal her wounds.

“Chang, as long as you are safe.” Shi Xuan sighed in relief.

“Shi Xuan, really, how can you go out on your own. If we had not rushed over, you would have truly been in danger just now.” A fair-skinned man in a green robe stepped over on divine light. His fingers were also pure white and slender. He snapped his fingers, and that blue seal instantly returned to his palm.

This green robed youth’s bearing was remarkable, elegant and graceful. He was a beautiful man, but seeing that a star-like divine light was around his head and a feeling of transcendence upon his brows, it was evident that he had already reached Primordial Infant Seven Stars Realm.

Once Golden Core was complete, the soul was condensed into an infant in the core and born. With but a gesture, their magical energy would be limitless, truly stepping into the levels of great cultivators. No wonder his magical energy had such vast power when he wielded it just now.

“Hmph.” Shi Xuan was ambivalent towards this Primordial Infant man.

Yet Chang warmly thanked him: “Many thanks, Big Brother Xuanxuzi. If not for Big Brother’s Blue Sky Seal, we would have been in danger…OF course, there was also Big Brother Gan Man.” She smiled at that tall and sturdy man.

Gan Man, who had grabbed the quill brute’s pincer with nothing but raw strength, was stone-faced, his brow deeply creased. His gaze was on Qi Lin.

“Oh, should you not be thanking me?”

A witty, bantering voice came from behind. She was none other than the one who loosed the critical arrow that killed the Ancient Demon Beast.

“Sister Hou Yi!”2

Chang happily ran over and wrapped herself around that woman’s arm.

Hou Yi?!

Qi Lin’s brow faintly rose.

The woman before him was tall and lean, standing at least one hundred seventy centimeters. She wore red silk, elbow pads, and armor. Draped in thin damask, a jade annulus also hung at her waist. The woman’s hair was tied in a bun, a very beautiful overall appearance.

Her eyes were especially fiery, like raging flames. There was a high temperature about them that could melt a person’s heart.

An exquisite long bow disappeared from her hands, and the remnant Divine Energy blossomed like fireworks.

It would not have been the least bit strange that this outstanding woman was a Divine General, but the Divine Name she had birthed left Qi Lin a bit surprised.

Hou Yi, the mythological figure who shot down nine suns.

Even if the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court had such legendary military achievements, she would have been classified as a powerful name that the Immemorial Royal Family could not ignore. However, Xuanxuzi, Gan Man, and Chang did not seem surprised.

Could she be some other Hou Yi instead?

Qi Lin was specialized in archaeology. Ancient books recorded the story of Da Yi shooting down the sun, but later generations traditionally equated him to Hou Yi. However, the truth was that there were two people. Another was named “Yi,” or “Yi Yi.”3 According to legend, he was the head of the Youqiong Clan that lay east of the Xia Dynasty. Proficient in archery, these two individuals were completely unrelated.

Thinking of this, Qi Lin had an understanding.

For a legendary Divine Name of the Immemorial Royal Family to appear at the Kunlun Mountains, this was no less shocking than the White Emperor’s awakening.

“What are you looking at? Want me to gouge out your eyes.” Hou Yi stared coldly at Qi Lin.

The woman’s bosom was towering, and her dress was low-cut, revealing snow-white cleavage.

Qi Lin faintly smiled. He courteously cupped his fist in greeting: “All of you have boundless magical energy. Your Servant is astounded.”

“Chang, who is this man?”

“What did he do to you?”

Xuanxuzi and Gan Man eyed the Qi siblings warily, subtly condescending to them.

“No, Big Brothers, he is Chang’s benefactor.” Chang hastily explained.

Hearing that someone had sneak attacked Chang, Xuanxuzi emanated killing intent, “Damn it all, someone actually dared to ambush you. Chang, should you recognize that person, then I, Xuanxuzi, will most definitely make him beg for death.”

“What happened to the one that sneak attacked you?” Shi Xuan asked.

“Driven off by Big Brother Qi Lin.” Chang was not very sure.

The person in question awkwardly smiled and shamelessly answered: “That evildoer wanted to take advantage of Little Sister. My sister and I were passing by. Sadly, my cultivation was a bit lacking, and I let him get away.”

“Thank you for that.” Shi Xuan flatly nodded.

“This quill brute’s Demon Core is not bad, Shi Xuan. Refine it for your Rainbow Sun-piercing Sword.” Hou Yi extracted the Demon Core and threw it to Shi Xuan.

Shi Xuan accepted it.

“The quills on the body are also precious materials for cultivation. Give them to me.” Xuanxuzi said.

After splitting the bounty, Hou Yi said: “Let us return to camp for now. Chang, do not wander off again.”

“Chang worried Big Brothers and Sisters. Chang was wrong.” Chang remorsefully lowered her head.

Just as the group was about to depart, Chang then said: “Right, Big Sister Hou Yi, Big Brother Qi Lin is also a good person. Can we go to the Kunlun Mountains together?”

“Huh?!”

The group was taken aback.

“Him?”

Qi Lin could see that Hou Yi’s group was clearly displeased with him, and it was no wonder. From their efficient coordination just now in slaying the quill brute, their flowing speed and very practiced work, it was obvious they had already known each other for a long time and were extremely in sync with one another. Furthermore, each of their cultivations was not low. Even the lowest Shi Xuan was Golden Core Late Stage. Although Chang was not high at Golden Core Middle Stage, she received the doting care of the entire team, for she was the healer of the group. Meanwhile, Qi Lin was also only Golden Core Middle Stage, and they naturally did not want an outsider to join in.4

Chang was naive and innocent, but the others were very shrewd.

“Oh, you also want to go to the Kunlun Mountains to pay respects to Ancestral Deity Queen Mother Of The West?” Hou Yi flatly asked.

“A Golden Core cultivator who wants to go to Kunlun Void…Hm…As well, to get there on your own is the sleeptalk of fools.” Xuanxuzi said derisively.

Qi Lin kindly said, “Whether I am Golden Core or Primordial Infant, I would be the same in Queen Mother Of The West’s eyes. Since we will meet, I will see what fate allows…If the outcome could be decided based on cultivation, then Queen Mother Of The West’s reward presumably would be unworthy of being a legend in Primordial World.

Xuanxuzi did not expect this Golden Core Middle Stage youth would reply so freely and was taken aback.

The others were also very surprised.

“Well spoken.” Hou Yi praised.

To be able to be so confidently in front of Xuanxuzi, this type of spirit was unlike an ordinary Golden Core cultivator.

Hou Yi stared intently at Qi Qi, ruminating: “Then it would be for the best that our fates part ways here. If we see you again at Kunlun Mountain, this will demonstrate you are indeed capable.”

Qi Lin cupped his fist, not responding to her kindness.

“Let us go to Wan Village first. It is not convenient to converse here.” Shi Xuan interrupted.

Although the quill brute was dead, this place was still a danger zone, where every kind of Demon Beast was hidden. Perhaps the quill brute’s blood would attract even stronger monsters.

Qi Lin followed the group to an old village, the outside of which had an invisible barrier. Guards with completely black skin stood watch. All of them were descendants of the Kunlun Mountain’s old blood; their ancestors had stood watch over Kunlun Mountain all their lives.

The village had few residents and was much more desolate than Qi Lin had imagined. After all, cultivators able to break through the Western Sea’s winds and waves and reach the end to seek Kunlun Mountain could be counted on fingers.

It was no wonder as well then why Xuanxuzi and the rest were not very fond of letting outsiders join. Another person signified another person to split rewards for. Of course, even more important was…Qi Lin’s cultivation was honestly too low.

Golden Core Middle Stage truly did not have even the qualifications to shine a Primordial Infant cultivator’s shoes, let alone visit one of the Ten Ancestors, Queen Mother Of The West.

After Qi Lin excused himself, Xuanxuzi smirked, an expression that applauded his tact.

Chang was helpless and could only bid farewell.

“Big Brother, we don’t need to rely on them at all.” Qi Qi was finally able to speak. She had been nearly suffocated to death by her big brother’s stare.

“This place is an unknown Divine Mountain, after all. To send a runner before the carriage is always for the best.” Qi Lin glanced over at their departing figures and chuckled to himself.5
