Western Kunlun Mountains.
One of Primordial World’s Five Great Divine Mountains, it was also a mountain range at the very end of the Western Sea. Qi Lin had heard Xu Fu mention it before aboard the Immortality Boat. If he could see the Western Kunlun Mountains, then he had reached the end, and from that end, he could set out for other oceans.
Qi Lin asked Chang whether or not the Western Kunlun Mountains had a way to reach the Eastern Sea.
Chang’s answer dashed Qi Lin’s hopes once again.
The Great Primordial’s Eastern Continent that the Western Sea partitioned off was very near, but the Eastern Sea was very far. Even with a void rift, it was very difficult to traverse such a long distance, and the void rifts across the Western Sea were not as friendly as a warp array. A cultivator’s soul would suffer an extreme shock upon entering one, and in the void, they would suffer unprecedented pressure. Even a Primordial Infant Seven Stars cultivator did not dare intrude into one.
If one wanted to go from the Western Sea to the Eastern Continent, they actually could borrow a boat and magic treasure.
The Western Kunlun Mountains was one of Primordial World’s Divine Mountains. Many cultivators and Divine Names would come here to visit, so boats came and went very often. Wanqiu’s business was also based on this. However, the surrounding hundred thousand li around Western Kunlun was shrouded in a fog, where even departing was time-consuming. Add on the destination being the Eastern Continent, this would take one or two years.
To a cultivator, this was not a long time, but Qi Qi could not wait any more.
The Sea-stabilizing Divine Staff was not inferior to an Earlier Heaven weapon. Pinned in the Eastern Sea, it would exhibit Divine Energy after the opening of the Register Of Deities. There would definitely be many Divine Names who would come to seize it. Although this was the Great Sage Equal of Heaven’s Divine Weapon, that did not mean other Divine Names were unable to use it.
“If Big Brother Lin is in a rush to go to the Eastern Sea, there is a way.” Chang said when she saw Qi Lin frown.
“Really, how?”
“Can it be that Big Brother Lin is unaware?” Chang was astonished.
“Unaware of what?” Qi Lin was confused.
“Western Kunlun’s legend. Cultivators come from all over just for the Queen Mother Of The West’s reward.” Chang said with yearning.
Qi Lin was very aware of who the Queen Mother Of the West was.
His archaeological experience included the Divine Palace Heavenly Tomb of King Mu, Son of Heaven. It was said that King Mu traveled the four seas, riding a carriage pulled by eight horses to reach the Western Kunlun Mountains and meet the Queen Mother Of The West. King Mu treated the Queen Mother Of The West with respect, presenting to her a white jade tablet, a black jade annulus, and three hundred pieces of colorful silk. The Queen Mother Of The West hosted a banquet and was hospitable, and the two responded to each other through songs. After King Mu left, he reached reached Mount Yan and inscribed their meeting there.
Later, Qi Lin found an exceedingly well hidden tomb in the strata of a lake in Tibet. This tomb was constructed for none other than the Queen Mother Of The West. He remembered he had excavated many artifacts from the tomb, among them a white jade tablet and a black jade annulus. One item in particular, an ancient-style eight-horse chariot embedded in jade left him and his senior sister speechless.
If not for the fact they were unable to excavate it, this would have been sufficient to shock the whole world.
Qi Lin recalled something. He wondered if such a treasure had been recorded in that ancient scroll of his.
“Don’t tell me that the Western Kunlun Mountains actually has the Queen Mother Of The West?” Qi Lin felt very stupid after he blurted out this question. Since it was one of Primordial World’s Five Great Divine Mountains, how could there not be a powerful Divine Name standing watch.
As expected, Chang stared at Qi Lin with a strange expression.
“But of course. The Queen Mother Of The West is one of the Ten Ancestors. The Western Kunlun Mountains are her palace.”
From Chang’s explanation, QI Lin slowly understood just how lucky he was to be able to find Western Kunlun. Western Kunlun was a legendary immortal realm with three great treasures. One was an elixir of immortality, of eternal youth, extending a lifespan to five thousand years.
Second was the “Jade Lake Immortality Peach,” which came from an immortal tree and its roots. The little peach trees matured after three thousand years, and those who consumed its body became immortals. Average peach trees matured after six thousand years, and those who ate it could live with eternal youth, ascending like the white sun; the best matured after nine thousand years. One who ate this would live as long as Heaven and Earth, age the same as the sun and moon.
Third, was the “Heavenly Ascension Pill.” Just one was able to allow a person to instantly cross billions of li, to breach the barrier of the Three Realms.
These three treasures were sufficient to raise a commotion in the Four Continents. Those able to obtain one could undergo rejuvenation, ascend to Heaven in a single bound. It was said that such a treasure could not be obtained by a cultivator or even a formidable Star Name. But this Queen Mother Of The West was someone with a big heart, who showed extreme kindness to people. She had only one rule – so long as one was able to arrive at Kunlun Void and see her, she would kindly concoct medicine. Those who were a bit luckier could receive a supreme treasure.
Back then, the leader of the Ten Suns Kingdom, Da Yi of the Immemorial Royal Family, along the edge of the Eastern Sea had braved myriad evils to reach Kunlun Void and meet the Queen Mother Of The West, receiving immortality medicine.
“If Big Brother wants to go to the Eastern Sea, if you are able to receive a Heavenly Ascension Pill, then you could easily do so.” Chang said.
The Heavenly Ascension Pill enabled the user to cross a billion li in an instant. Other than territories like the Thirty-three Devas’ or Divine Mountains, one could go to anywhere they wanted.
“However, it is very dangerous to go from Kunlun Mountain to the Kunlun Void. Many were unable to succeed. Chang has a companion in the middle of preparing to head towards the Kunlun Void to test his luck. If Big Brother is willing, you could travel together.” Chang issued an invitation.
Qi Lin was not very clear about Western Kunlun. Since Chang and her friend had come prepared, it was clearly much better than himself rushing in to his own death.
“Can I?” Qi Lin asked.
“Oh, of course, you can. The cultivators who come here all want to greet the Queen Mother Of The West, and everyone should work together.” Chang showed a dazzling smile, as innocent as a flower blossoming in a spring breeze.
How could Qi Lin refuse such a smile.
…
The two of them chatted and laughed along the way, stopping and going. Meanwhile, Qi Qi pursed her lips, holding her hands behind her head.
All of a sudden, a roar from the front interrupted the conversation.
They heard the roars of wild animals in the hundred meters around them. The Western Kunlun Divine Mountains had the nourishment of Immemorial Divine Energy. These grounds had many lingering Strange Beasts and Immemorial Demon Beast. Some Demon Beasts were even able to cultivate into Divine Names and leave their mark on the heavenly way. Reportedly, Queen Mother Of The West had such a supreme existence at her side.
Most of the cultivators who came to the Western Kunlun Mountains were unwilling to face side issues, for the Demon Beasts here were very skilled in fleeing.
Qi Lin carefully reached the top of a tree and spotted a gigantic hedgehog in the open space in front. This hedgehog’s appearance was fierce, a bit like a pangolin. Its entire body was covered in armor, and all of its quills were bronze-colored, very dreadful to see. This hedgehog’s forelimbs were like a scorpion’s pincers.
“A quill brute!”1
Chang was astonished, for she recognized this Strange Beast.
A quill brute was the most frustrating Strange Beast on Wanqiu Island. This Strange Beast was covered in armor that was practically impervious to even a Divine Name, impenetrable to blade and spear. The average magical treasure or weapon was unable to pierce through either, and the quill brute’s greatest strength was that it was able to launch its quills like swords, turning them into sharp blades. It was able to utilize sword array-like abilities similar to cultivators’; its might was boundless.
Its defenses were as a fortress, its offense nigh unstoppable.
As far as Golden Core or even Primordial Infant Realm cultivators were concerned, the quill brute was honestly too annoying.
Which cultivator was unlucky enough to actually bump into such a Strange Beast.
Qi Lin narrowed his eyes. He spotted a long-haired woman flying around the quill brute like a butterfly. Her clothes fluttered, and multi-colored light in her hand endlessly descended upon the quill brute to no effect whatsoever. The quill brute’s pincers attacked, its body shook, and its quills immediately shot forth.
More than a dozen quills spun in the air, expanded, and then became swords that spun towards her, surprisingly forming a magical sword array.
Even Qi Lin was astonished.
