The divine light dispersed, revealing several pills.
The pills were pure white, as if they were imprinted with plum blossoms, and very pleasant to behold.
“En route to the Valley of Two Burdens, there will be a mesmerizing array. This array is very difficult for anyone not God Transformation to pass. This ‘Snow Plum Seed’1 pill is able to dispel the array, allowing Fellows to not suffer its effects.” Wan Xinyi explained. As he said this, he ingested one himself. Wan Zhongnan followed suit and also ingested one.
Watching them ingest it, the others did not hesitate either.
Qi Lin grasped the “Snow Plum Seed.” This pill was snow-white, and that plum blossom mark at the center was a deep scarlet, its fragrance like that of plums, but it otherwise had no unusual characteristics. Qi Lin covered his mouth and ingested this Snow Plum Seed. Seeing that he had swallowed the pill, Wan Xinyi grinned.
“Everyone, we may proceed.”

Under the guidance of Wan Xinyi’s Kunlun Map, Qi Lin and the rest of the group progressed very smoothly for the Valley of Two Burdens. The tall mountains and running streams, the white cranes and divine deer, the scenes along the way made the trip feel like a stroll. Everyone slowly relaxed their vigilance from their initial wariness.
Days later, they very quickly at the Mountain of Little Xian2 that the Kunlun Map indicated.
The Mountain of Little Xian had many waterfalls, each and every one cascading down in a very spectacular scene, like countless curtains draping the mountain in a gorgeous cloak. Qi Lin noticed that these waterfalls surrounded them, resembling a revolving gate.
“That place is Goose Gate. Western Kunlun has a type of goose known as ‘honglu.’ This species is able to fly up to ten thousand li high, and it is able to cross a thousand li over land in an instant. The honglu’s feathers are but precious materials to refine clothes in Primordial World.” Wan Zhongnan explained.
Kuang Wenguang’s eyes were agleam: “As expected of Western Kunlun. They say that the honglu is already extinct in the Four Continents.”
“However, during this season, the honglu should be migrating to other places. If Fellow wishes to capture one, you will have to wait until next year.”
Kuang Wenguang twitched his mouth in regret, “I was only thinking aloud. The honglu is very difficult to catch. I hear it can escape into the void.”
“En.”
“We can enter the Valley of Two Burdens from the River of Goose Gate. That is our objective.” Wan Xinyi said.
“So easily?” Kuang Wenguang did not dare believe this.
“If it was so easy, you would not have recruited us.” Ancestor Three Truths calmly said.
“Of course, since this is the Jade Lake Peach Tree, it naturally cannot be so easy to obtain. When we came here a few years ago, a Strange Beast was guarding that place. I am unable to handle it alone.” Wan Xinyi spoke bluntly.
This was not strange. The Divine Tree and its Divine Fruit have attracted Strange Beasts since ancient times. These Strange Beasts often fell to mutual slaughter for the right to own a Divine Tree. The last survivor would retain complete ownership of the Divine Tree and its fruit, to use the Divine Tree’s power to cultivate. Such a cultivation method doubled the results with half the effort and was extraordinarily fast.
Thus, in Primordial World, a Divine Tree also signified danger.
“Does Fellow Xinyi know what kind of Strange Beast it is? Could it be an Enlightened Beast?” The female cultivator frowned.
An Enlightened Beast was Western Kunlun Mountains’ most famous Strange Beast, for it guarded the abode of myriad gods. Their group was not match.
“No way, the Enlightened Beasts guard the Kunlun Palace and are entrenched in Jade Void Peak. This place should not have any.” Wan Xinyi said with certainty. “But that Strange Beast is one I have never seen before. However, it emitted a Primordial Infant Realm aura. Fellows, you were all able to pass the trial of Gan’s Fang. Presumably, you should be able to handle it.”
Since they had already reached this far, further worry was unnecessary. Everyone adjusted their mentalities. They retracted their relaxed attitudes and moved towards the River of Goose Gate.
The River of Goose Gate was surrounded by a mist that was several dozen li deep. This mist was even denser than fog, and the air was filled with a thick salty taste that was very uncomfortable. Wan Zhongnan said that this mist was the mesmerizing array. Cultivators would lose their senses when approaching it, however, everyone had ingested the Snow Plum Seeds beforehand, so they could pass.
Beyond the River of Goose Gate was another peak, and under it, one was able to see a circular valley.
This valley appeared unusually desolate. The Western Kunlun Mountains were spring-like year-round, with all things remaining evergreen, but this valley was surprisingly bleak, with large patches of dried, yellow grass, a few withered trees, and many jagged, dangerous cliffs and caves.
The name “Two Burdens” was strange, and the scenery was also very odd.
“We have arrived.”
Wan Xinyi was delighted and increased his pace.
Seeing him accelerate, the group glanced at each other and, without a better choice, followed close behind.
“Fellow Xinyi, will there really be a Jade Lake Peach Tree here?” The female cultivator assessed the surroundings. She did not sense the Jade Lake’s aura here at all.
When a Divine Tree bore fruit, the surrounding dozen li would fill with its aroma.
But here, the female cultivator could only sense a deathly air, no life at all.
“What is going on? Did we get something wrong.” A fierce glint flickered across Ancestor Three Truths’ eyes.
Wan Zhongnan reassured them: “Everyone, please, be at ease, we will soon be able to see it.”
“Hm?”
Wan Xinyi reached the middle of the valley. All of a sudden, he faced an enormous cave and knelt down, touching his forehead to the ground in utter devotion. Wan Zhongnan knelt down as well. Everyone was completely confused, believing this to be some kind of ritual.
Qi Lin slowly backed towards the edge of the circle. Magical energy circulated throughout his whole body, and he fully released the Five Elements Universe Origin Shackles.
“Just what is happening here?” The Primordial Infant old man was impatient.
Then, they heard Wan Xinyi shouted: “Wan Xinyi requests an audience and disturbs god.”
Everyone was taken aback.
They heard a rumble. The surrounding mountains suddenly jolted, and that River of Goose Gate surprisingly backflowed, forming a covering that enveloped the valley. Immediately afterwards, the cave in the valley quaked and rumbled, sounding like a snore. Then, the snore turned into an infant’s cry, making everyone shiver.
An enormous Strange Beast immediately sauntered out from the cave. This Strange Beast’s appearance was bizarre, tiger-like, but under its tiger head was a human face, too. It had a horse’s hooves, and its body was half fish scale, half flesh, half red, half yellow.
Everyone had never seen such a monstrous Strange Beast. For a moment, they were frightened stiff by its appearance.
But Wan Xinyi and Wan Zhongnan ignored them. Apparently, they were accustomed to this. The two of them knelt on the ground, shivering, and became even more devout and reverent.
“Wan Xinyi, what are you doing.”
“Why are you kneeling.”
“Can we not obtain the Jade Lake Peach Tree after killing this Strange Beast? What are you doing.”
The cultivators cursed and were endlessly irate.
This Strange Beast let loose an infant’s laugh, incomparably ear-splitting.
Yet Wan Xinyi said: “These five cultivators all possess Five Elements nature. They have passed the Gan’s Fang trial. Now, we ask Lord Yayu enjoy them!!”
“What!!”
Everyone was stunned, believing they had misheard.
Qi Lin was also stunned, but not from his words, however. Rather, it was this Strange Beast’s name.

The Yayu was a god from the Classic Of Mountains And Seas, but it later became a man-eating beast. Primordial World had Divine Names birthed by women and thus became women, but many stagnated at the Genesis Stage.
“This One has waited long.”
The Yayu’s human face spoke. Its voice was somewhat stiff, odd.
