Qi Lin’s delighted agreement caught the group by surprise. Given his Golden Core Middle Stage, facing the Primordial Infant Middle Stage Zhuyan meant he would die without even realizing what had happened.

But they discovered this young man was absolutely calm, an expression of disregard for life and death.

“Perhaps you have some other request?” Hou Yi spat.

“Your Servant will assume the responsibility of luring the Zhuyan away, to allow Seniors to hurry to the Nine Divine Gates. However, should Your Servant be fortunate enough to return alive…Your Servant indeed has one humble request.” Since this bait maneuver involved life and death, benefit and cost, Qi Lin no longer concealed anything.

“You still dare to raise a condition with us?” Xuanxuzi was dumbfounded. Just what was loaded into this Golden Core cultivator’s brain. He had never seen the like, a cultivator who dared to seize the initiative any time the opportunity presented itself. Xuanxuzi had a premonition, as if this cultivator was the true core of the party.

“Oh, speak?” Hou Yi showed an intrigued smile.

“Very simple. Should I be able to return alive, I would like any one Demon Core from the Demon Beasts slain hereon as my recompense.”

“You seem very obsessed with Demon Cores?” Hou Yi raised a brow.

“To be honest, Your Servant’s Realm is too low. I can only rely on refining the Demon Cores from these Kunlun Strange Beasts to strengthen myself.” Other than as materials for medicine and magic treasures, there was also another function, which was to refine the powers that the Demon Beast had cultivated. Practically every Demon Beast’s Demon Core was the concentrated quintessence of hundreds upon thousands of years of cultivation. Not only did it contain a soul, it also contained abilities. However, humans and demons followed separate paths. The process for a cultivator to refine the Demon Beast’s abilities from inside the Demon Core was a very painstaking and arduous one. Some very formidable abilities could only be used with the physique of a Demon Beast. If a cultivator used it, they would suffer backlash, so very few cultivators were willing to refine abilities from a Demon Core.

There was nothing good to say about Qi Lin’s words. Judging rom his brazen requests, this man was reckless by disposition, a person who would dare to do anything, so refining a Demon Core’s abilities was very normal.

“You may…The prerequisite is that you cannot allow the Zhuyan to obstruct us.” Hou Yi narrowed her eyes, coldly answering him.

Qi Lin cupped his fist: “Many thanks, Senior Hou Yi, for obliging me.”

“Look out for yourself.”

Hou Yi was expressionless.

“Big Brother Qi Lin, I…want to go with you.”

Chang could not bear this.

“No need, Sister Chang. I’m really lucky. Once, I had someone calculate that I could live to be one hundred.” Qi Lin smiled.

“Live to one hundred…Heh, did you not beat this person to death?” Shi Xuan laughed.

“Big Brother Qi Lin, don’t say such things.” Chang’s eyes were weeping.

Qi Lin broke into a cold sweat. Only then did he recall that Primordial World’s Qi Refinement cultivators could live for a century and Golden Core for two to three. A life span of one hundred years could only be described as ephemeral in Primordial World.

“In short, I am really lucky.”

“Enough chatting, hurry and go.” Xuanxuzi was displeased.

Qi Lin turned dashed back the way they came into the forest.

“Senior Hou Yi, can it be we actually need to acquiesce to his demands, to apportion him the power of any Demon Core he pleases?” Xuanxuzi asked.

“Do you have a better solution?” Hou Yi calmly asked.

Xuanxuzi was taken aback. He had nothing to say.

They had suffered under the Zhuyan for the past few days. If not for Chang’s help, perhaps they honestly would be trapped to death here.

“If Qi Lin actually can help us leave this trap, then we should be grateful.” Shi Xuan also said.

Gan Man also maintained approval.

Xuanxuzi agreed as well, however, he still was not comfortable being ordered about by a Golden Core cultivator. It was plainly obvious his cultivation was the highest here, yet he always was being pushed around by that brat.

“Xuanxuzi, there is no need to be so unresigned. You could also draw away the Zhuyan…” Hou Yi said.

Xuanxuzi laughed.

“We had better seize the chance while Qi Lin is luring away the Zhuyan to make progress. We cannot waste his heartfelt sacrifice.”

After several hundred li, the manifold layers of ancient trees had already gradually thinned out. Sunlight that was as warm as snow gently sprinkled down. The forest glistened while the lush flowers and green grasses swayed gently in the breeze. With fragrance all around, Qi Lin slowly strolled about, leisurely as he made his way along a small trail.

Hares and deer fled in all directions. Qi Lin stopped and looked in front of him.

A white-headed, red-footed Strange Ape was atop a tree, its four eyes fixed on him.

Qi Lin knew that it would follow him. He possessed the heart of the Holy Beast Qilin, and the Holy Beast’s aura was sufficient to defeat the Zhuyan’s strange power. The Zhuyan most definitely wanted to consume his soul and refine his powers, which was why it had relentlessly circled around them for so many days, continuously probing him.

If he had not guessed incorrectly, the Zhuyan ought to have already detected Qi Lin was Golden Core Middle Stage, to have assessed the depths of his abilities. Since it dared to show itself, perhaps it felt itself capable of killing him.

Zhuyan stared at Qi Lin for a long time. It bared its fangs and showed malevolent expressions. Its magical energy flowed, and its powerful Primordial Infant power pressed down upon him. Qi Lin had no choice but to take a step back. With this step, the Zhuyan immediately seized its chance. Its body flew forth, swift as lightning as it flung its arms. The ape’s long arms were very distinct, like red copper wrapped in lava. Blood-qi surged, and its two arms were like blood-light spears thrusting towards Qi Lin’s face.

This strike had a force that could pierce through sun and moon. The average Golden Core cultivator would have already died with both eyes open, without doubt.

Qi Lin’s reactions were swift. He used the Nine Yins Nine Yangs Fortune Body and released the Five Elements Universe Origin Shackles. Qi Lin did not dare be careless in confronting this Zhuyan. With his reactions and speed reaching their peak, he saw the Zhuyan’s spear-like arms. Qi Lin put his hands together, his fingers forming a “strength and softness” seal. Using strength to intercept the Zhuyan’s power, he then used softness to dispel it. Astonishingly, this was the Dual Modes Seal’s ability of strength and softness.

The Strength And Softness Seal was already practiced to perfection by Qi Lin.

Even a Primordial Infant Middle Stage Demon Beast’s power could be seized.

The Zhuyan’s arms were blocked. It howled ferociously, the shrill noise ripping apart several dozen li of space, the soundwave directly converting to magical energy. Qi Lin’s expression tightened. He activated the Zhi Bell. It rang, a crisp “zhi” tone suddenly rippling out, dispelling the might of the Zhuyan’s screech.

Subsequently, he suddenly activated the Great Earth Stele, which expanded, becoming a dozen zhang in size as it hovered above the Zhuyan’s head. The magic treasure emitted a pressure that immediately suppressed the all of the ape’s power.

Qi Lin alternated his attacks and the two magic treasures. It was a pity that the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banners were already used previously and were temporarily unable to be activated again. Qi Lin grit his teeth as he unleashed the Dark Heaven magic treasures “Heaven-shaking Bow” and “Cloud-piercing Arrow.” At practically the instant the Zhuyan was suppressed by the Great Earth Stele, he drew the bow and loosed an arrow as swift as lightning.

The twang of the Heaven-shaking Bow’s string made the Zhuyan shudder. The Cloud-piercing Arrow was like a shooting star, piercing through the constraints of space as it shot into the Zhuyan.

He had to kill it!!

Qi Lin had put everything on the line for this one arrow.

But the Zhuyan suddenly opened its eyes in all directions, seeing everything. The magical energy of the Great Earth Stele, Zhi Bell, and even the Cloud-piercing Arrow were suddenly thrown into disarray. Qi Lin unexpectedly found them beyond his control. Afterwards, the three magic treasures chaotically battled one another.

What??

This was completely outside of Qi Lin’s expectations. Not only was the ape capable of putting cultivators under illusions, it could even influence magic treasures. This was honestly too inconceivable.

This power was simply terrifying.

The ZHuyan let out a victorious roar. It suddenly extended its body and lunged, aiming to rip apart Qi Lin’s chest.

Under its four eyes’ “Seeing The Great Soldier,” it was already impossible for Qi Lin to have any ability to resist.

The reality was that Qi Lin’s Golden Core Realm was fundamentally insufficient to contend against the Strange Ape Zhuyan of Western Kunlun, but Qi Lin was not flustered at all and remained shrewd. A Divine Crest flashed upon his forehead. Then, a ray of evil qi surged, surprisingly more terrifying than the Zhuyan’s Fiend Qi by a hundredfold.
