QI Lin and Wu Gu’s table appeared particularly notable. After taking their seats, they immediately attracted everyone’s attention.
The medicine refinement master, “Leisurer Xiaoyao.” This identity could be said to be currently famous in Ten Shamans City. The pills and medicine he concocted were already being appraised at sky-high prices according to trustworthy sources, so much so that the medicine concocters that the First Market had conducted business with for years felt left behind in the dust. Everyone was very curious about Leisurer Xiaoyao.
“Wu Gu, you rarely ever come out. We even thought you would not come here this time either.”
Qi Lin was in middle of despairing that his lack of money was suffering with a warm laugh interrupted him. Several women spotted Wu Gu and walked over. They wore palace dresses that were as green as lotuses, adding to their dark green hair, but their eyes were all blue-green.
That green hair bun was very distinct.
“Wu Peng, I received Wu Xian’s invitation. Of course I would attend.” Wu Gu was unperturbed. She continued: “Indeed, they say this auction has the trail of the White Emperor’s steed. How can the Ten Shamans not be in attendance.” Wu Gu smiled.
“However, your market has been very busy as of late, Wu Gu. It makes me very envious. Oh, pardon me.” Wu Peng smiled insincerely.
“It is good luck. After the moment passes, it will stop. When that time comes, I will need to discuss with you on how to coordinate, Wu Peng.” Wu Gu flatly smiled.
“Oh, how flattering.”
Wu Peng and Wu Gu traded words back and forth, murderous intent hidden in their language.
Qi Lin expressionlessly listened from the side, thinking to himself that the Ten Shamans were not harmonious, as expected. At this time, several female figures slowly walked over towards him as well. Qi Lin’s pupils shrunk, for they were none other than Xu Fu, Wang Jian, and the others.
“Your Distinguished Self in the mask, would you happen to be True Person Xiaoyao, the one rumored to have concocted the Five Flavors Soul Returning Powder?” Xu FU asked.
Her question was on everyone’s minds, but Wu Peng could not easily ask due to face. Now, having heard her ask, Wu Peng also stared straight at Qi Lin’s mask, as if to see through him. However, this mask was meticulously selected by Wu Gu. It was equipped with a hallucinatory array; the more one stared, the more mysterious he would appear.
“En.” Qi Lin casually nodded, feigning a somewhat prickly demeanor.
“Your Distinguished Self’s Five Flavors Soul Returning Powder is one of the few things in the past few decades to have made Ten Shamans City so lively. I was also very impressed with that secret bid auction method.” Xu Fu continued.
“En.”
“Your friend here does not appear to be fond of speaking.” Wu Peng coldly chuckled.
“The recent concoction of the Five Flavors Soul Returning Powder has left him very weary. His Distinguished Self Xiaoyao requires rest.” Wu Gu explained.
Qi Lin grunted again.
Wu Peng pursed her lips.
Having been rebuffed, Xu Fu probed no further.
After more leisurely chatter, Wu Peng returned to her seat. Wang Jian stared at Qi Lin, her brow tightly creased.
“Wang Jue, what are you staring at?” Xu Fu tugged on her.
Wang Jian returned to her senses. She stared strangely at Qi Lin. For some reason, this mysterious man felt familiar. She seemed to have deja vu, for this person was very much like that man she had signed a contract with. However, that was impossible. Qi Lin should not be capable of such formidable pill concoction talent.1
Wang Jian could not figure it out.
“Is that man Leisurer Xiaoyao, the one who refined the Five Flavors Soul Returning Powder?”
On another floor, Wu Xian’s gaze was also on Qi Lin.
On the surface, he seemed a bit unremarkable, completely lacking that temperament those medicine refinement sect leaders had. It was said that Genesis Universe medicine refiners could use Heaven and Earth as their cauldron and the sun and moon as the fuel. They blended Heaven and Earth together, with their every gesture full of a vast and ancient might. But she was completely unable to sense any of that from Qi Lin.
Beside Wu Xian was Wu Ji, also of the Ten Shamans. To her, an Earth Origin pill like the Five Flavors Soul Returning Powder, was nothing exceptional, but that secret bid auction method had very much piqued her interest.
“Seeing how close he is to Wu Gu, you likely will not be able to pull him in, Elder Sister.” Wu Ji casually said.
“An Earth Origin pill cannot stir a great wave.” Wu Xian was not concerned in the least.
“Should there be more, things will not be the same.” Wu Ji chided. The Ten Shamans’ most prominent trade was in pills. A market with a thriving pill trade occupied an absolutely important position. The reason Wu Gu could turn the cold Tenth Market into the hot topic was because the severe shortage of soul supplement pills led to a market rush. If he had a few more even more incredible pills, then he could easily monopolize the market.
Wu Xian grunted: “We must all subdue the Illusionary Flying Snow this time. No matter what tricks Wu Gu may play, they will not matter.”
“Of course. I will always stand on Elder Sister’s side.” Wu Ji smiled.
…
Afterwards, Qi Lin spotted Wu Li, Wu Zhen, Wu Pan, and the other Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain. These women were each absolute beauties, peerlessly magnificent. Among them, Wu Zhen’s direct and generous offer to recruit Qi Lin was politely declined by him.
After seeing off the Ten Shamans, Wu Gu wiped the sweat from her forehead. This was the first time she had been the focus of so much attention.
“Sister Wu Gu, have you gotten to the bottom of the Illusionary Flying Snow matter?” Qi Lin asked.
“En, I have asked around. Of the Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain, other than me, the only other one who will not go is Wu Luo. The others have decided to venture to Changliu once more. I heard Yang Jian is also thinking the same.” Wu Gu said regretfully: “I fear the Illusionary Flying Snow will be unlikely to escape calamity this time.”
“Yang Jian also wants to go?” This was a bit troublesome.
“There is no way she won’t.” Wu Gu did not even need to think.
“That Western Sea God may have the same plan, too. It seems the rumor was leaked by the Western Sea God Cult.”
The Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain had ruled over the Fog Spirit Sea for millennia. The information network they wove was far more expansive than Qi Lin had imagined. This Illusionary Flying Snow matter was not only clearly investigated, even the source of the rumor had been clearly identified. As it turned out, it originated from a member of the Western Sea God Cult. Wu Gu surmised that it was likely the Western Sea God Cult was nearby and spotted the Illusionary Flying Snow when they startled it back during their original trip to Changliu.
Yan Zi should have her eye on the Illusionary Flying Snow, but out of caution for Changliu’s dangers, she wanted to use an underhanded scheme by manipulating others to do her bidding. She would have the Ten Shamans go clear the way and exhaust Changliu’s forces, then she would be the fisherman who caught snipe and clam.
However, the Ten Shamans of Spirit Mountain were legacies of the Immemorial Royal Family, the Great Shaman Clan, experts in divination. They very easily were able to calculate the risks.
This time, if at least eight of the Ten Shamans worked together, Yan Zi would stand no chance at all.
And this Illusionary Spirit Feather auction was also one of the Ten Shamans’ plans. Other than suppressing the momentum of Wu Gu’s Tenth Market, the second reason was to attract other cultivators to act as cannon fodder. The bigger they made this incident, the more difficult it would be for Yan Zi to have her way.
Hearing her say as such, Qi Lin realized he had no way to save the Illusionary Flying Snow.
Qi Lin was truly at a loss as to whether or not he should go save this Spirit Beast that was somewhat related to the Holy Beast Qilin.
After a moment, all of the lights dimmed.
The auction had formally begun.
