Qi Lin and Su Xuesha walked through the stepped field’s pathways, not paying too much attention those larger fields. Only the fields that were like that of the Yin Yang Immortal Mushroom warranted a closer look. Along the way, they obtained many valuable ingredients.
Changliu’s stepped fields were heavy with medicinal fragrance, a completely different world compared to the evil qi from before. If not for having personally seen the Corpse Tree just now, Qi Lin would have thought that he had wandered into the countryside.
After a long while, more and more human figures appeared in the fields. They were all some fortunate cultivators who entered from various other locations. They were not as calm as Qi Lin upon seeing the spirit medicine fields. Without another word, they harvested in a frenzy, destroying their loot in the process.
Entering the depths of Changliu’s fields, the stepped fields also gradually grew sparse and began to turn into wide belts of plains. Far off in the distance, another upsetting haze appeared.
These plains lacked the man-made spirit fields for planting spirit medicines, but many odd stones were scattered about.
These stones were bronze in color, their entire forms very strange, like they were distributed in an arc over the ground. The rocks were incomparably hard, and from a distance, they were like enormous eyeballs smashed into the ground. Qi Lin and Su Xuesha thought that they were bronze crafts that White Emperor Shaohao commissioned, apparently as ornaments for sacrificial rites. Only with a closer look did they realize this was not the case.
These stones that appeared to be eyeballs were “sacrificial eye stones.” These stones were covered in a bronze-like shell and were very sturdy, but the offering inside was a stone-heart. This stone-heart was treated by the Great Shaman Clan as the heart of the earth itself. Thus, they often used these stone ornaments as offerings to the earth, and consequently, they came to be known as sacrificial eyes.
The sacrificial eye stones’ stone-hearts were could be refined into formidable earth element magic treasures, which would be an enormous boon for the training of some earth element abilities.
These stone-hearts were worth more than a hundred thousand Wu jade in Ten Shamans City’s markets. Higher quality, pure stone-hearts could even reach a million.
However, to collect the stone-heart, one must first extract it from the center of the sacrificial eye stone. This process was very delicate, and the slightest mistake would destroy the sacrificial eye stone’s veins and thus ruin the stone-heart inside, leading to the stone-heart inside completely disintegrating.
Sacrificial eye stones were already very rare these days, but the White Emperor left behind clear records that enormous effort was spent to order people to gather them during the construction of Changliu.
Though the sacrificial eye stones were not necessarily the reason that so many cultivators were drawn to Changliu.
Not long after, Qi Lin and Su Xuesha encountered a group of cultivators in the middle of stripping an immense sacrificial eye stone.
The bronze shell on the outside was naturally very hard, and after refinement, it was even more impervious. Only by stripping away the bronze shell could a cultivator possibly have a way to begin the actual extraction. Three or four Golden Core Late Stage cultivators were battering the sacrificial eye stone all at once.
Magic treasures and abilities were used without end, producing loud and powerful explosions.
That group of cultivators were using their strength to attack the sacrificial eye stone and were startled to suddenly see people appear. They immediately halted their work and warily eyed the newcomers.
Qi Lin changed into a mask while Su Xuesha was mysterious and aloof. These cultivators did not recognize them.
But Qi Lin recognized one of them – Yang Yuanzhi.
The most recent ostentatious nouveau-riche in Ten Shamans City.
Three cultivators were with Yang Yuanzhi. One was a middle-aged man with sideburns and a sinister countenance. Another was an old man in green robes, whose presence was subdued, his eyes like a viper’s. Lastly, there was a young lady in a multi-colored dress, her fingernails like hooks. Blood-light flickered, and she was also full of hostility.
These four did not appear to be the friendly sort. Each of them was backed by at least Golden Core Seventh Trigram strength, reaching even Golden Core Eighth Trigram Late Stage.
Suddenly, the sky filled with blinding light. An enormous blade descended, as if to split the Heavens. It was shocking to witness, and that enormous blade cut against that sacrificial eye stone, ringing loudly. Countless cuts appeared on the sacrificial eye stone’s shell.
That blade receded into Yang Yuanzhi’s hand and became a magic treasure.
The man stared at Qi Lin, as if he had given a live demonstration of the blade in his hand.
Qi Lin actually was not in the mood to seek a quarrel with him, and he was not terribly interested in the sacrificial stone eye.
Just at this moment, the old man in green and the young lady walked over to greet them.
The old man in green faintly smiled and courteously greeted them: “Fellows, we were destined to meet.”
“So we were.” Qi Lin saw he was friendly and replied in courtesy.
“Our group is in the middle of extracting the sacrificial eye’s stone-heart, however, this Earth Sacrifice level is very dangerous and the stones too numerous. Would fellows be interested in collaborating?” The green-robed old man introduced himself.
“We are in the middle of business and have established a forbiddance array here. So as to avoid injuring Fellows, if you do not wish to collaborate, then you must circle around.” The young lady in the colorful skirt faintly smiled.
The four were also afraid of others taking advantage of them. After all, after breaking open the sacrificial eye stone, the stone-heart could fly out alongside the rock fragments.
Su Xuesha was expressionless, not responding to their insincere goodwill. She walked straight forward with no intention of circling around.
“Apologies, we have other matters to attend to. We will not disturb you, Fellows.” Qi Lin indicated his regret and carried Qi Qi on his back as he walked with Su Xuesha, completely ignoring the group’s killing intent.
The killing intent behind them grew increasingly intense, but in the end, it still quelled.
Only when Qi Lin and Su Xuesha were outside a certain range did the four finally retract their killing intent.
“Yuanzhi, why did you not kill that couple. I see that young man was merely Golden Core Middle Stage, not worth our caution.” The middle-aged man indicated his confusion.
The green-robed old man and the young lady walked back, with the old man shaking his head.
“What? Could it be I misspoke? We have killed cultivators like these before when we entered Changliu.” The man sneered.
The young lady said: “Oh, Qiyuan,1 you truly lack judgment. That young man could be pinched to death anytime…But did you not notice how very strange they were?”
“Strange?” The man named Qiyuan only saw that their cultivations were not worth a look and completely did not sense anything odd.
“This is a valuable spot in the Earth Sacrifice level. Our group killed many cultivators to reach this place, and we expended enormous magical energy and magic treasures to break through that strange mummy tree. Yet that young man and woman were very relaxed, even able to carry a girl on piggyback. This is too strange.” The old man said. “That young lady is mysterious, I fear she is a Divine Name.”
“To be able to travel together with a Divine Name…”
“An Invested Deity Emissary?” The man was taken aback.
“En, they may be a Divine Name and her emissary. We had better not act rashly.” The young lady nodded.
“If we kill a Divine Name, is that not better than any fortunate encounter? Yet we are still digging for the damned stone-hearts.” The man was delighted.
“Fool, how can a Divine Name able to enter this place be of average Realm.”
“And does our Western Sea Bai Clan fear a single Divine Name?” Bai Qiyuan was disdainful.
Yang Yuanzhi spoke at this moment: “The Ten Shamans, Yang Jian, and Yan Zi have all come to Changliu. Perhaps the Illusionary Flying SNow is real. We should let them kill each other first.”
“Do not worry about side issues for the moment. White Emperor Shaohao hid a shocking secret in Changliu, and only our Western Sea Bai Clan’s secret scroll has a few records. We cannot be careless or impulsive.”
Yang Yuanzhi faintly grinned.
“Since the Young Master has spoken, fine.” Bai Qiyuan completely obeyed his words.
Yang Yuanzhi waved his hand. Subsequently, this sacrificial stone eye’s shell was sheared away layer by layer, revealing a glossy interior. This eyeball-like stone stared like demons and gods into the distance full of unknown danger.
