Qi Lin and Su Xuesha swam several circles through the area, but no matter their direction or speed, they were unable to reach the coral reef.
The reef’s white light was like a resplendent lantern on the dark seafloor. The rays of white light were dream-like, and the ranyi flit about inside, making Qi Lin unable to help but recall the term, “bait.”
If this continued, they would perhaps die of exhaustion.
The white light that this odd coral palace emitted perhaps had hallucinatory capabilities, so when the two treated the white light as their objective, they were instead entrapped, unable to escape.
The Classic Of Burial’s mechanisms chapter mentioned traps that exploited the environment to create a kind of unconscious trap. This type of trap and environment were muddled together, catching graverobbers completely off guard. Just like this seafloor, the coral’s gentle white light beckoned them in, but on the contrary, this may have been a trap.
Thinking of this possibility, Qi Lin hinted to Su Xuesha.
The girl knowingly shut her eyes and no longer looked at the coral reef’s white light. Although she shut her eyes completely and even closed off her pores, a kind of indescribable sensory organ still penetrated through her magical energy barrier and entered through her skin. That gentle white glow already broke through her eyelids and magical energy restraints and clearly coursed through her body’s divine meridians. Even if she was not looking directly, the white light’s scenery was already ingrained in her subconscious. Therefore…
Half an hour later, Qi Lin and Su Xuesha opened their eyes again. An identical scene lay before them.
Qi Lin suddenly recalled those hundred corpses from before on the sea. Could it be that these bodies were here because they were trapped by this ghosts building wall mechanism and died from exhaustion in the end?
There must be a way.
Since the Ten Shamans Of Spirit Mountain were able to obtain the ranyi, there must be a way to break through this illusion.
Qi Lin forced himself to remain absolutely calm. He recalled all of his experience with various strange illusions, pondering a way to dispel it.
Suddenly, a warm light filled his surroundings. Qi Lin glanced to the side.
Only to see that Su Xuesha had already lost patience. The girl stared at the coral, her Deity Crest shimmering on her forehead. Immense Divine Energy flowed from her fingertip, and concentrated purple light surprisingly brightened more and more, enclosing the darkness. “Heavenly Spirits and Earthly Fiends, the Purple Rose is your master!!”
The girl chanted and flicked her slender white finger.
The purple light fiercely shot in all directions. As if a giant meteor had fallen into the ocean, the world was enveloped in purple light. The coral’s mesmerizing white light was disrupted and suppressed under Su Xuesha’s Divine Energy.
“Let us hurry.” Su Xuesha gently called.
Qi Lin came to his senses.
Yes, since this coral’s white light was unusual, Su Xuesha used the simplest and most barbaric method: directly utilize Divine Energy to beat back the white light.
By doing so, this illusion array was disrupted basically without anything superfluous. However, this coral reef enormous. Even a Primordial Infant cultivator’s magical energy perhaps would not be able to repel the white light. Perhaps only a Divine Name born of the Primordial could achieve this.
The pair instantly broke through the curtain of darkness to arrive in front of the reef. As expected, as Qi Lin had thought, the two had easily broke through the ghosts building a wall under the sea.
“Just what is this coral, it’s incredible.”
After entering the reef, the coral’s white light had already become very dim, losing the threat of its illusion. Qi Lin was very curious about this reef. He chopped with his hand, but the coral did not budge in the slightest; it was harder than iron. With enormous strength, he barely managed to hack off a piece of coral.
The ranyi scuttled about through the coral, hiding any place they could, their six legs extremely swift. Qi Lin and Su Xuesha chased after these ranyi through the coral. Suddenly, the ranyi escaping forward were startled by something ahead and came swimming back. Qi Lin graciously snatched one.
The ranyi’s appearance was honestly not very pleasant. With the head of a snake and six legs, one glance was enough to give people nightmares. However, Demon Beasts like this that could grow fiercer after feeding.
“Qi Lin.” Su Xuesha suddenly called.
Qi Lin stored the ranyi into his bag, only to suddenly notice an enormous shadow swim out from the depths. That figure was long and slender, electricity arcing all along its length that was shaped like a serpent.
Qi Lin was startled and thought that he had seen a dragon in Changliu’s ocean, but upon careful inspection, he discovered that was a huge electric eel. Its entire body was glossy, and it was comaprable in size to a boat, its length stretching a hundred meters. The eel had sharp teeth and a demonic visage, its eyes a pale white. Two slender whiskers about twenty to thirty meters long trailed from its head. From far away, it honestly was like a legendary dragon.
“This is bad, it’s the ‘hunmang!!'”1 Qi Lin immediately recognized this was an extremely ferocious Demon Beast mentioned in Wu Gu’s journal. It was already at Primordial Infant Realm in strength.
Its whole body was able to emit electricity, electrocuting every living thing in the surroundings to death instantly.
Meaning that the dead cultivators from before were not trapped by the coral’s white light but were instead massacred by this hunmang.
Qi Lin immediately pointed his finger. The Nine Fingers Of Hell were activated in succession.
Su Xuesha had just used Divine Energy and was already a bit exhausted, barely managing to activate a protective magic treasure.
The hunmang opened its mouth and hissed. The lightning over its body suddenly glowed white.
A giant electrical grid seemed to extend in all directions.
A bewildering scene appeared in the depths. Qi Lin’s Nine Fingers Of Hell were unable to push forth and were easily dispelled. At the same time, the hunmang’s electricity completely spread over the seafloor. Even the entire reef was electrocuted. Qi Lin immediately felt his entire body go numb, and his heart even momentarily stopped beating.
The magical energy in his body surprisingly was all gone in an instant.
The hunmang saw its prey had been paralyzed and bared its teeth, firing a bolt of lightning.
“Dual Modes Seal!” Qi Lin used Three Yins Three Yangs, forcibly flaring his qi-blood and activating his magical energy. Both his hands formed the Dual Modes Seal, its power like a torrential downpour, unleashing immense might that shook the seafloor’s mountains. Qi Lin had just cultivated the Golden Core Bagua’s marsh trigram. Once complete, this trigram magnified magical energy and abilities used underwater.
Two giant palmprints appeared on the hunmang’s glossy body. It thrashed in pain, its tail mercilessly slapping against Qi Lin. He vomited blood, but he did not dare lose focus. The next second, the Spirit-slashing Sword appeared and attacked the hunmang.
The hunmang conjured an electrical net that restrained the Spirit-slashing Sword, rendering it unable to budge.
Bang.
This magic treasure was surprisingly disintegrated by the hunmang’s formidable lightning.
This hunmang’s magical energy was honestly too powerful. Before the magical energy and abilities of Primordial Infant Realm, a Golden Core cultivator was merely an insignificant existence, completely unmatched. Since he already obtained the ranyi, Qi Lin did not want to tangle with it any further.
The next second, he turned and swam towards the surface.
Seeing Su Xuesha fall behind, Qi Lin grabbed her hand.
The next instant, the hunmang raged violently. A huge electric net flashed in the sea. Seemingly countless electric snakes coiled towards the pair. Under the hunmang’s power, the seawater seemed to boil over.
The electric net instantly enclosed the pair. Qi Lin and Su Xuesha cried out in alarm. The pair were electrocuted at the same time, their souls seemingly stirred together. Surprisingly, the hunmang’s primordial electricity produced the feeling of union.
“Ah!” Their eyes widened.
A seemingly familiar scene appeared again.
