Chisel Tooth.

For the past few days, Xuanxuzi and the others had been searching for valuable materials in the vicinity of the Weak River. Since they could not cross the Weak River, they were unwilling to leave empty-handed.

The Chisel Tooth was encountered near the Weak River. This beast grew chisel-like tusks, its forelimbs were shaped like a shield and spear, and it was especially ferocious. It was Primordial Infant Middle Stage in Realm. Neither Xuanxuzi nor Gan Man were a match for it. In the end, they relied on Hou Yi’s Sun Arrow to shoot it in the heart, finally slaying it.

Demon Beasts that lived on Western Kunlun Mountain, like the Chisel Tooth, were all very rare in Primordial World. Its Demon Core was also naturally very valuable and could be said to be priceless.

Because it was finally killed after the group had worked together, ownership of the Demon Core was still uncertain. Hearing Qi Lin say he wanted the Chisel Tooth’s Demon Core, the group was taken aback.

Xuanxuzi insincerely smiled. He looked to Hou Yi, whose brow was slightly creased. She maintained a stern expression: “On what grounds do you want it?”

“This senior is being overbearing, and everyone is just watching. Your Servant has solved the Weak River’s mystery. I presume this trade is worth it.” Qi Lin said.

“Are you aware of the significance of your demand?” Hou Yi calmly said.

Qi Lin grunted. This meant that the two sides were not so-called companions, but from the moment he joined, he never was, after all. They were using each other, each taking what they needed from the other. Furthermore, Qi Lin needed this Chisel Tooth Demon Core.

“Fine. Then if you bring us across the Weak River, this Demon Core will be your remuneration.” Hou Yi coldly said. Compared to crossing the Weak River, she was not very concerned with this Demon Core.

Originally, it was undecided who would receive the Chisel Tooth’s Demon Core. After hearing Hou Yi’s words, Xuanxuzi, Gan Man, and Shi Xuan did not oppose. Each of them harbored their own thoughts, but the gazes with which they looked at Qi Lin were somewhat unfriendly.

“You had best bring us across the Weak Water, otherwise this is where you die.” Xuanxuzi threw the light in his palm into the Weak River, where it instantly sank.

“I want the Demon Core first.”

Hou Yi threw the Chisel Tooth’s Demon Core to him. She was not afraid that Qi Lin would play a trick.

Qi Lin took the Demon Core. He could sense this demon’s soul within. Then, he expressionlessly walked towards the Weak River.

Under the moonlight, the Weak River was covered in white frost, the layers of light carpets spread out, a very dreamlike scene.

Shi Xuan watched for a long while, unable to fathom what method could be used to cross the Weak River. Over the past few days, they had used every method possible, including this path-like moonlight but to no avail. Seeing Qi Lin so confident, Shi Xuan was very curious.

Qi Lin pondered by the Weak River for a long while, pacing back and forth. At last, he chose one of the moonlights and stepped over.

Chang shut her eyes, not daring to look.

“Ah.” Shi Xuan gasped.

Chang cracked her eyes open, only to see Qi Lin standing firmly on the Weak River. The Weak River that surprisingly could not support a feather had no effect on him whatsoever.

“How is this possible?!” Xuanxuzi was shocked.

Shi Xuan blinked, not daring to believe her eyes.

“Follow me, time is of the essence.” Qi Lin said: “Right, don’t use too much power, otherwise I won’t care if you fall in.”

Saying this, Qi Lin walked towards the other shore.

Chang, Shi Xuan, Xuanxuzi, Hou Yi, and Gan Man hurried after him.

After several dozen breaths, black clouds covered the skies, and the moonlight carpets below their feet slowly receded.

“Hurry, if this moonlight disappears, we will fall into the Weak River.” Qi Lin urgently warned.

Upon hearing Qi Lin’s words, the group was a bit panicked. They looked at their feet, only to see that layer of moonlight that was thinner than a cicada’s wing actually vanish bit by bit. At the moment, everyone was already in the middle of the Weak River, and this place’s gravity was the strongest in particular. Once they fell in, not even a God Transformation cultivator could escape. Xuanxuzi was especially in a rush. He immediately accelerated, extending an arm and rudely pushing Chang aside.1

Before, he had even made a solemn vow to protect the physician. Confronted at the critical moment of life and death, though, he still renounced her.

Chang gasped in shock, for she was nearly shoved into the river by Xuanxuzi. Fortunately, Qi Lin was quick-witted and swift to react. He seized the girl’s hand and pulled her back: “Chang, look out.”

Chang blushed. She lowered her head and grunted.

Xuanxuzi turned his head back to look, his expression hateful, but he did not say a word.

“Hurry, this light is about to disappear.” Shi Xuan’s voice was unsteady.

Hou Yi grunted. She raised her hand and grabbed Shi Xuan by the lapel. The woman circulated her Divine Energy and strode forth, instantly crossing the moonlight walkway. Gan Man’s strength was boundless as he spurt forth like a wild tiger unleashed from its cage. His strides were large as he stepped across the moonlight, which seemed to be on the verge of shattering.

The party members arrived at the Weak River’s other shore in succession. At the same time, the moonlight walkway under their feet was swallowed by the Weak River bit by bit.

“Big Brother Qi Lin, where’s your little sister?” Chang suddenly recalled this. Among the group, she could not see Qi Lin’s younger sister.

“Oh, she’s fine. I made her stay over there.” Qi Lin played down his response.

“Hmph, leaving her there was a wise decision.” Xuanxuzi meditated to recover his energy, his eyes bursting with a cold glint.

Qi Lin did not think Xuanxuzi would thank him; he sat down and caught his breath.

Before everyone calmed down, they turned back to see the Weak River was as before, with streaming moonlight, a beautiful sight.

“Qi Lin, just what happened?” Hou Yi asked.

“Hm?”

Although they had crossed the Weak River, another question plagued their minds. They had clearly tested every method already, even attempting a crossing over the moonlight walkway, but they had failed. However, Qi Lin was very confident, and even the most haughty of Primordial Infant cultivators would sit and listen attentively for the source of this confidence.

“Could you have been gambling one of the moonlights could span the Weak River?” Shi Xuan asked in astonishment.

“Of course not. I would much rather believe in myself than good luck.” The truth was very simple. After learning about the “lighter than a feather” clue, Qi Lin had already begun to ponder. Afterwards, he found the light solution.

Although the initial moonlight walkway had vanished, Qi Lin believed this place definitely had some kind of hidden mystery. Therefore, for the past seven days, while Xuanxuzi and the others were constructing the prayer hall, he endlessly reflected and pondered around the Weak River.

Qi Lin had seen too many mechanisms in old tombs and ruins to count. Perhaps Primordial World’s were even more mysterious, but all laws lead to one singular law. Understanding one law would lead to understanding all laws, for their essence was all the same.

To speak of something thinner than moonlight, that would be an even thinner moonlight.

“Even thinner moonlight?” Shi Xuan was flabbergasted.

Qi Lin hinted to the two moons in the sky.

One hung high in the starry sky, the other over Jade Void Peak.

The two moons glowed brightly, but the one over Jade Void Peak dimmed at certain times for some reason, which meant that only one moon shone upon the Weak River during those times. Currently, the moonlight was at its thinnest.

To have analyzed the moonlight’s intensity from the two moons astonished everyone, but Xuanxuzi remained unconvinced: “Even so, we had tried this just now. Why did we still sink with the other moonlight.”

“Yes, so we needed the Queen Mother Of The West’s welcome.” Qi Lin smiled.

What?

The group was confused.

Although the layered moonlight was thin, the Weak River was still a river in the end, with gleaming reflections. The reflected beams of light were all of different wavelengths. To the naked eye, they were honestly hard to distinguish, but Qi Lin discerned the relationship between the Jade Void Peak and the Weak River’s fengshui. In one place with particularly good fengshui, that moonlight was the corridor across the Weak River.

Kunwu was a master of geomancy, so she was able to see someone cross over the waves. If one understood this point, they naturally could very easily deduce how.

After Qi Lin finished explaining, everyone’s expressions could only be described as dumbstruck.

Well, Shi Xuan had to admit that while she completely did not understand his words, they seemed very persuasive.

“Regardless, if it was not for you, Qi Lin, we honestly would have no way to cross the Weak River.” Shi Xuan came to her senses and spoke in a gentle voice.

“Hmph, I hope this good luck can last.” Xuanxuzi nodded derisively.

Having crossed the Weak River, everyone was already at the foot of Jade Void Peak. They could already vaguely see the looming shadow of the Nine Divine Gates.

At this moment, the Western Sea’s imposing air was incomparably powerful, intimidating.

“We rest well tonight and continue tomorrow.”

The night was ice-cold. Chang stared into the pitch-darkness in every direction, continually gripping the hem of Qi Lin’s clothes at every sound.

The closer they got to Jade Void Peak, the more dangerous the journey became. Hou Yi did not want any further trouble, so she agreed with Chang’s suggestion. The group set up a defensive array. Then, they meditated and calmed their breathing, waiting for the sun to rise the next day before they embarked for the Kunlun Void.

Xuanxuzi and Gan Man whispered to each other, their gazes occasionally turning to Qi Lin.

Hou Yi sat upright and still, shutting her eyes in rest.

The night wind howled, producing an eerie, ancient chant through the forest. Murderous intent was faintly detectable in the surroundings, and Demon Qi surged.

Even if the morning sun arrives, it doesn’t seem that things will be too peaceful.

Qi Lin thought to himself as he entered his mind.

Kunlun Void, Divine Palace.

There was neither night nor day. The Kunlun Void was eternally shrouded in silvery halos as pure as snow. Wearing gorgeous clothes and draped in a crystalline cloak, the majestic and dignified Queen Mother Of The West stood atop the Divine Palace, a bright moon glowing behind her. The woman’s gaze, which was as bright as black ice, seemed capable of seeing through everything.

“Hm…Qi Lin…This young man actually was able to see through the ‘moonlight walkway’…How long has it been?”

A young woman dressed in a white skirt appeared and deferentially replied: “Since ‘Kunwu’ arrived, he is only the second.” Although many cultivators had used their powers to forcibly cross the Weak River over the past few millennia, the trial had already begun the moment they set foot in Western Kunlun.

The Queen Mother Of The West grunted.

“However…”

“Speak.”

“Forgive Slave Servant’s bluntness, but Master Mother is following a cultivator too closely…Not too long ago, White Emperor Shaohao’s Divine Energy awakened. Master Mother…” The young lady hesitated.

As the master of the Western Seas, how could the disturbance in Changliu escape the attention of the Queen Mother Of The West, one of the Ten Patriarchs.

“When the Register Of Deities last appeared, that was during the fall of the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court…Whatever calamity awaits us this time, we are unable to stop it. The Heavenly Way has her own will, one that not even Hongjun can control. We can but let it run its course…” The Queen Mother’s tone was very kindly.

“Slave Servant was unaware of Master Mother’s intentions and asks for punishment!”

“Let the Zhuyan2 face them. This One wishes to see how far they can go.”

“Huh, the Zhuyan?” The young girl was taken aback. This Demon Beast was quite ferocious and merciless. Although not as savage as the Yayu, it had an ability that was sufficient to make many cultivators and even Divine Names cower in fear.

“Go.”

“As you command.”
