Range upon range of mountains, of winding peaks.

The Western Kunlun Mountains was bathed in radiance. The light of the sun was neither intense nor scorching at all, but bright as snow, sprinkling all over the mountains and fields, appearing particularly beautiful.

The essence of the sun and moon filled the mountains and plains. The cultivators breathed the Jade Void Peak’s spiritual power, undergoing a complete transformation, as if through body reconstruction.

Ever since they crossed the Weak River, Xuanxuzi and the others could hardly conceal the excitement in their hearts as they frantically searched about the Jade Void Peak.

The Jade Void Peak after the Weak River presented a beautiful scenery distinct from the mountain range from before. The spiritual power here was even more abundant, and spirit grasses and spirit herbs could be seen everywhere.

To Chang, this simply was like finding treasure; she searched through the flowers and grasses in excitement. For Xuanxuzi and the rest, they felt the same, though rare Spirit Beasts were their targets. Sweeping away their earlier dejection from handing the Chisel Tooth’s Demon Core to Qi Lin.

Whoosh.

An arrow unleashed searing flames, spraying brilliant sparks. A Flower-plumed Three-tailed Green Light Sparrow stopped its wingbeats with a thud as the arrow shot into its gut. This Green Light Sparrow’s protective divine-light was promptly extinguished.

“Splendid archery.”

“As expected of Archery God Hou Yi. Senior Hou Yi’s Sun-chasing Arrow is deservedly an arrow that never misses.”

Gan Man and Xuanxuzi both praised and cheered.

This Green Light Sparrow was a Golden Core Middle Stage Spirit Beast. Although it was not very incredible from Xuanxuzi’s perspective, its Green Light Warp ability was too thorny. It was able to disappear and reappear randomly, such that Divine Intent could not cover it.

Hou Yi’s arrow shot this Spirit Bird dead. The flower feather atop the Green Light Sparrow’s head was the most precious material, which could be crafted into magic treasures and accessories to grant them protective green light.

Hou Yi was not very interested in this and casually threw the flower feather to Shi Xuan.

Shi Xuan was overjoyed and endlessly grateful.

The Spirit Bird’s meat was left to Gan Man, who was excellent at preparing wild game.

“Could you hand this Demon Core over to me? Senior Hou Yi, Your Servant has expended enormous effort to draw this Green Light Sparrow into your eye.” Xuanxuzi’s eyes were agleam. “This Spirit Bird’s Demon Core has a void warp ability, honestly a perfect match with Your Servant’s Escape Technique, which can advance another level.”

Hou Yi glanced at him. She was pensive, but she generously handed the Demon Core to him.

Xuanxuzi was also very grateful.

The group split this Spirit Bird’s materials amongst themselves. Chang obtained the gem that was on the Green Light Sparrow, but Qi Lin was the only one who was ignored. Even at night, his portion of the Spirit Beast’s meat was a full size smaller than the rest’s.

Qi Lin was aware they were being deliberate. Although he had brought them across the Weak River, because he had seized the Chisel Tooth’s Demon Core, the rest were quite displeased.

Qi Lin did not care about these, for his Heaven-shaking Bow and Cloud-piercing Arrow were also of boundless might. Though perhaps his archery could not compare to Hou Yi’s, killing a few Green Light Sparrows was no issue at all. However, he presently still needed to recover.

Hearing the compliments that Xuanxuzi and the others gave Hou Yi, even comparing her to the Yi of the Immemorial Royal Family, even Hou Yi herself appeared very pleased.

Over the next few days, Hou Yi’s hunts intensified. Any Spirit Beast that appeared in the woman’s eyes, even those that were not particularly valuable, were shot dead with a single arrow.

Today, Qi Lin accompanied Chang in collecting Heavenly Heart Orchid Grass. This grass could rapidly restore Qi Lin’s current state when refined into medicine.

“Thanks for helping, Brother Qi Lin.” Chang gathered the Orchid Grass and wiped her sweat.

“En. You’re welcome, you are doing this to help me, after all.” Qi Lin smiled. The others were busy hunting Spirit Beasts right now and basically had no interest in collecting Spirit Grasses without any value.

“These days, they have truly been causing grief for Big Brother QI Lin.” Chang remorsefully said. The deliberately discriminatory behavior by Xuanxuzi and the others over the past few days were all witnessed by the girl.

But her cultivation was no better than Qi Lin’s, so she had no right to speak up at all.

“It was clearly Brother Qi Lin who saw through the Weak River mechanism, ai.” Chang sighed.

Qi Lin laughed, “We’re using each other, no need to mind. These past few days, I’ve been enjoying Gan Man’s cooking without pitching, which has been quite nice.”

“I truly feel that we have no face at all left to seek an audience with the Queen Mother Of The West.” Chang softly said.

Qi Lin was surprised, for he did not expect Chang to be so kindhearted and pure. Seeing her so worried about him, Qi Lin was a bit moved.

“Chang, you’re so kind. Perhaps you can receive an audience with the Queen Mother Of The West. When the time comes, don’t forget to put in a good word for me.” Qi Lin chuckled.

Chang blushed: “Brother Qi Lin, don’t tease Me.”

“I wonder how many more days until we reach the Nine Divine Gates.” Chang raised her head. The Nine Divine Gates of the Jade Void Peak seemed so close yet also as far as the horizon.

The closer they were to the Queen Mother Of The West’s Divine Palace, the more that a kind of ancient and dignified majesty assailed them. It was even heavier than the Weak River – this kind of weight was completely in the mind.

“Should be soon.” Qi Lin estimated they should be able to arrive in two to three days. However, what was truly strange was that they had not encountered significant danger ever since the Weak River. Those Spirit Beasts that were given to Gan Man to cook or to Hou Yi for experience posed no threat at all to them.

Western Kunlun Mountain, one of Primordial World’s Divine Mountains, could not possibly be so simple as to let people take advantage of it.

Could it be said that Queen Mother Of The West actually felt the Weak River was surefire?

As the two chatted, they made their way back to camp. All of a sudden, they heard the howls of monkeys as well as Gan Man’s shouts.

Things scuttled in the forest very boisterously.

“Seems we’ve encountered yet another Demon Beast.” Qi Lin was already accustomed.

Just as the two of them were about to draw near, a fragrance suddenly brushed over them. Shi Xuan stopped them: “No sudden moves, either of you. Lest you frighten it off.”

“What?” Qi Lin was astonished.

Following Shi Xuan’s eyes, Qi Lin finally noticed Gan Man and Xuanxuzi were both carefully waiting in ambush, hiding their auras. Not too far away, there was a Strange Beast in a Cold Fir.

It was shaped like an ape, its head white while its feet were red.

The beast’s build was imposing, its white head like a long-bearded old man, its red feet like surging blood. The monkey’s palms were enormous and covered in iron, dragging along the ground. It had four eyes and was capable of looking all directions.

Even Xuanxuzi had never seen such a Strange Beast, but judging from its appearance, this beast must be quite unique. Compared to the Demon Beasts they hunted the past few days, it was a crane among chickens.

The Strange Beast exuded the aura of Primordial Infant Middle Stage. No wonder it attracted the greed of Xuanxuzi and the others.

Qi Lin felt like he had seen this Strange Beast somewhere before, but he was certain it was not in Primordial World.

An ape-like appearance, a white head, and red feet…Could it be?

Qi Lin was astonished.

That strange ape seemed to feel that it had broke away from its pursuers and turned to leave.

Chance!

Xuanxuzi shouted, moving with an escape technique. After he had refined the Green Light Sparrow’s Demon Core, this ability had been strengthened significantly, as expected. His body became a ray of green light, even swifter than before.

At the same time, he thrust out his finger, his nails like a net of blades.

Tier Four Ability, Ensnaring Qiankun Finger.

Whoosh.

Who could have thought that the Strange Ape had another pair of eyes on the back of its head. These eyes opened and turned. A red barrier was erected out of thin air that intercepted Xuanxuzi’s Tier Four ability.

Gan Man somersaulted and threw a punch.

This punch was as heavy as a boulder. The Great Shaman Clan’s strength was fully revealed, but the Strange Ape also punched. Its fist was like a shooting star, surprisingly blowing Gan Man back. Then, the Strange Ape let out a shrill howl.

Even the air itself seemed to shudder.

“Sister Hou Yi.” Shi Xuan called.

Hou Yi, who had been waiting for a long while, drew the Sunset Over Western Hill bow.

The Strange Ape’s four eyes were all open, seeing everything in all directions. The cultivators’ inescapable net was fully revealed.

“Shit!! You mustn’t kill it.” Qi Lin shouted that this was bad.

But he was already too late.

Hou Yi’s Sun-chasing Arrow was loosed. Her Divine Energy splashed like boiling oil onto the Strange Ape.

Crash.

The Strange Ape fled, roaring.

Hou Yi suddenly drew her bow again. This time, her target was not the Strange Ape but Xuanxuzi.

Xuanxuzi was not flustered at all. His gaze was also murderous as he used his powers against XHou Yi.

Gan Man also unleashed punch after punch of his Tier Four ability, the “Chain Cannon,” each blow like a cannon shot shaking the sky with loud rumbles.

His target was none other than Shi Xuan.

Shi Xuan was caught unprepared and beaten mercilessly by the punch-blasts. Fortunately, a divine arrow shot over and obstructed the killing intent. Subsequently, Shi Xuan used her own powers.

The four of them who had just been in perfect coordination had instantly become bitter enemies.

“Ah, Brother Qi Lin, what is happening, why.” Chang was shocked.

“This Strange Ape is the Zhuyan.” Qi Lin gravely answered. The Classic Of Mountains And Seas said thus: it was named the Zhuyan, a portent of war. Upon seeing it, great chaos would appear in the world.

Zhuyan?

Chang had never heard of it.

That Zhuyan seemed amused as it watched the four of them attack each other.

Its four eyes were open, gazing in all directions.

Qi Lin suddenly sensed his consciousness turn hazy. Chang’s body slowly morphed into something demonic. A kind of unprecedented and inexplicable hatred formed, making Qi Lin think of only one thing, which was to kill her.

This is bad.

Qi Lin shook his head to dispel this resentment, but it grew increasingly heavy. All of a sudden, an auspicious light flashed in his mind. The light of the qilin heart suddenly enveloped him.

Like a spring breeze, it dispelled this strange hatred.

Qi Lin recovered his lucidity and was startled. He realized he had fallen prey to an illusion. As expected, this Zhuyan was formidable enough to actually be capable of mesmerizing a Divine Name like Hou Yi and a Primordial Infant cultivator like Xuanxuzi.

“Ahhhh.” Chang struggled painfully.

“Chang, hang in there.” Qi Lin promptly supported her.

At this time, Chang’s body fired five rays of light. These lights were very gentle and beautiful, like a new moon.

When the light appeared, that Zhuyan seemed to have been provoked by something and roared. It was furious and jumped down from the fir.

Its clasped its arms together and brought them down towards Chang.

Chang was completely unresponsive, for she had been caught in the Zhuyan’s illusion. She used her powers again, struggling even now.

Dual Modes Seal strength and softness.

Qi Lin used the Dual Modes Seal to conquer strength with softness.

The Zhuyan hooted. Its four eyes gazed at Qi Lin, but Qi Lin had the heart of the qilin, rendering the Strange Beast’s illusion useless. The Zhuyan became even angrier, and it leapt up, swinging its four limbs.

Xuanxuzi, Gan Man, Shi Xuan, and Hou Yi unexpectedly changed targets, turning all of their gazes onto Qi Lin.

Qi Lin cursed under his breath as he barely dodged an arrow.

Just as he was about to be surrounded, forced to the end of the line, Chang’s powers finally took effect. That magnificent silver light became five jade discs that hung above the five group member’s heads. Then, the five merged together into a single thing comparable to Western Kunlun’s moon.

When this moon appeared, the Zhuyan seemed to find it very loathsome. After it shrieked, it fled.

Qi Lin gazed at Chang in endless astonishment. It appeared that this kindhearted girl was stronger than she herself believed.
