The ninth Divine Gate.
It had jade walls with green lacquer, carved fences with jade bricks, and a Kaiming Beast perched at the main entrance. Compared to the eight prior Divine Gates, this Kaiming Beast was even larger, its features vivid and lifelike, with its fishscale armor and plumage depicted down to the finest detail.
There was a single hexagram on the gate, none other than the “Qiankun hexagram” that Qi Lin anticipated.
The ninth Divine Gate was especially imposing, towering more than a hundred zhang tall, like a majestic mountain. Its walls stretched into the depths of the white mist like a ten thousand li long great wall. The entire group felt as insignificant as ants in front of this gate.
Beyond this gate was the Kunlun Void, the holy palace of the Queen Mother Of The West.
That was an awe-inspiring place the ordinary person or even an average Divine Name was unable to pry into.
“Strange, why is there no sound from the gate.” Xuanxuzi inquired.
Qi Lin listened carefully and found this place was very quiet. The walls of the prior eight gates all moved, stopping at every hour. Twelve gates for twelve hours, with only one being the true entrance. However, the ninth Divine Gate was not like this. The walls were lofty and motionless, like a silently towering giant. Not even the slightest movement of operating machinery could be heard.
Everyone thought they misheard and carefully searched, but they could not find any clues.
Qi Lin was at a loss. Was this another new mystery?
“Fellow Qi Lin, it seems we will have to trouble you again.” Xuanxuzi gloomily smiled.
Qi Lin ignored him and walked before the gate. It should absolutely be the case that this place was related to the “Qiankun hexagram,” but it seemed that method to open the door was unrelated to time. Perhaps there was some other mystery? Qi Lin combed through the hexagram’s form in his mind. The Qian hexagram’s “a potential dragon is not to be used,” the Kun hexagram’s “portent of frost, thick ice will follow…” He attempted to find a clue related to the surrounding environment.
Xuanxuzi and Gan Man had already grown accustomed to Qi Lin solving the mechanisms over the past few days. They leisurely meditated nearby, carefree.
Shi Xuan and Hou Yi whispered to one another. The two women were huddled together, engaged in private conversation as they left the circle.
“Qi Lin.”
Shi Xuan’s warm voice broke the strange atmosphere.
Xuanxuzi and Gan Man’s gazes glanced over at her. The girl walked in front of QI Lin, “Sister Hou Yi said she will give you three days. If you are unable to find the solution in three days, she will take matters into her own hands.”
“Could it be that Sister Hou Yi has a clue?” Qi Lin curiously asked.
“Not really a clue…Just a tiny rumor…But only as a last resort. Sister Hou Yi does not want to go that far.” Shi Xuan smiled.
“Hm?”
Qi Lin’s brow rose. There was something hidden in these words.
Three days very quickly elapsed, but Qi Lin was still stumped. The Qiankun hexagram corresponded to Heaven and Earth. Qi Lin had already tried “the gentleman works earnestly throughout the day,” “as if leaping up, but still in an abyss,” “a flying dragon is in the heavens,” “the dragon exceeds his limits, there will be repentance,” and other related ideas, but the gate did not budge.
This morning, the sun and moon rose and set over Kunlun Mountain. The sun’s rays sprinkled over the ninth Divine Gate. The Kaiming Beast seemed to be gilded, glittering with the luster of gold. Qi Lin still sat quietly in front of the Divine Gate, his thoughts whirling.
“Don’t tell me it has something to do with a dragon?” Qi Lin suddenly recalled the Kun hexagram’s sixth six’s “dragons fight in the wild, their blood is black and yellow.” He felt a bit of foreboding.
Just at this moment, without any warning, scorching killing intent burned around him like a flame. A ray of terrifying murderous aura shot straight towards Qi Lin’s heart, who felt his flesh and bones melt, unable to put forth any resistance.
A figure instantly threw itself in front of him.
A bow strummed.
The arrow pierced through Chang’s chest. The girl’s whole body stiffened, her eyes went wide, and her pupils instantly fell dark.
“Chang!!” Qi Lin was shocked. He held up her collapsed body with one hand. The Green Satchel Book flew out and shot its green light over Chang’s body, but no matter how he used this magic treasure’s magical energy, the life force in Chang’s body slowly ebbed. There was no way to save her…Because the arrow that killed her was a Destined one.
“Big Brother…I feel so cold…” Chang muttered, her tone weak as she stopped breathing.
“Truly stupid.”
Hou Yi slightly frowned, a bit surprised Chang would shield Qi Lin. Soon after, she showed indifference again.
“Hou Yi!!”
Qi Lin glared at the woman who loosed the arrow, the fires of his hatred burning hotter than her arrow.
“Senior Hou Yi, why are you…” Xuanxuzi and Gan Man had yet to react. Hou Yi’s Destined “Sun-chasing Arrow” was incomparably terrifying. After she killed Chang, she was already moving on to the other two.
Her arrow was just like the setting sun. Under her arrow, a Primordial Infant cultivator’s magical energy became the light of a candle.
Even Gan Man’s herculean physique was unable to stop the Divine Name’s arrow. The Sun-chasing Arrow was like a blaze, instantly burning his body to ash. Xuanxuzi first blocked an arrow using his Primordial Infant magical energy, and then he activated the Blue Sky Seal.
But Shi Xuan also took action. The girl turned her wrist over, and a scarlet sword-light circled around Xuanxuzi.
The scarlet sword-light was like Hou Yi’s Sun-chasing Arrow, a rainbow that pierced through the sun. Xuanxuzi was not like Gan Man; he unleashed his abilities at full power. The space around his body suddenly warped as he summoned the “Black Void Barrier,” barely stopping Shi Xuan’s arrow, but the leftover might of the Sun-chasing Arrow still made this Primordial Infant cultivator suffer immensely.
Shi Xuan and Hou Yi’s actions were lightning-fast, decisively attacking practically at the moment when everyone was relaxed. By the time everything stopped, Gan Man was dead, and Chang was not far behind while Qi Lin and Xuanxuzi were injured.
“Senior Hou Yi, what are you doing!” Xuanxuzi asked in terror, using an escape technique to reach a safe range.
He did not dare believe the ordinarily quite amiable women would instantly become hostile before they had even entered the Divine Gate.
“I already gave you three days. Since you missed your chance, you will pay the price.” Hou Yi did not pay heed to Xuanxuzi. The woman looked at Qi Lin. This mysterious young man was much more dangerous than Xuanxuzi. She originally wanted to kill him while he was unprepared; it was a pity that Chang would unexpectedly stop her arrow. This caught her by surprise.
“Why kill Chang!!” Qi Lin grit his teeth, pushing out his question word by word.
“Ever since Chang joined me, her Destiny was mine.” Hou Yi disdainfully smiled.
Destiny?
“Chang is a Divine Name…” Qi Lin’s gaze sank.
“Although I do not know what her Divine Name was, her Destiny has nevertheless moved me…” Hou Yi shut her eyes, ecstatically breathing in Chang’s Destiny that was on the verge of death.
“Meaning…You are her Emissary, Shi Xuan?” Qi Lin strained with all his might to keep calm.
Shi Xuan played with her black hair. As if she was a different person from the warm personality before, she apathetically said: “I already signed an Invested Deity Contract with Sister Hou Yi long ago. We share a life, and we have come specifically to Western Kunlun to meet the Queen Mother for this Register Of Deities.”
“We haven not even seen the Queen Mother yet, and you want to kill us, why!!!? Once we receive the Queen Mother’s reward, would you not benefit then as well?” Xuanxuzi was unable to comprehend her sudden hostility.
“Is this related to the ninth Divine Gate?”
Qi Lin could already vaguely guess.
Hou Yi calmly said: “You should have heard the legend of how the Great Yi sought an audience with the Queen Mother ten thousand years ago, yes? Back then, Yi and Chang’e paid a visit to the Queen Mother and received Heavenly Ascension Pills, immortality elixirs and peaches. Yi shot down ten suns, shocking Primordial World. Chang’e ascended to become an immortal, residing on the moon. Afterward, the legend of ‘meeting the Queen Mother’ spread throughout Primordial World…But the average person only knows that Yi received benefits, not the events that transpired.
“I, Hou Yi, am actually aware of some secrets. Back then, the Immemorial Royal Family’s ‘Sun Arrow God’ Yi collaborated with the goddess ‘Guanghan Moon Immortal’ Chang’an to seek an audience with the Queen Mother. But after they left the Kunlun Mountains, Chang’e did not emerge with Yi. Everyone thought that Chang’e had ingested the Heavenly Ascension Pills to go to the celestial moon. The truth is different.”
“You mean that Yi killed Chang’e?” Qi Lin was taken aback.
“Correct.” Hou Yi was very impressed with Qi Lin’s comprehension: “I am the sovereign of the Youqiong Kingdom, and the Youqiong worship Yi as their faith. This Sovereign understands some things. Opening the ninth Divine Gate is very simple…There can be only one.”
“One person?”
“How can the countenance and divine might of the Queen Mother Of The West be glimpsed by ordinary Divine Names. Only one destined by the heavens may see her. I am correct, am I not…Lu Wu.”
Hou Yi tapped her finger against her Divine Weapon Sunset Over Western Hills. Her finger was rhythmic, slow, and gentle, as if she was playing a qin.
Perhaps because victory was at hand, or because she was impressed with Qi Lin as a person, or perhaps for some other reason, but Hou Yi’s gaze towards Qi Lin was filled with warmth.
When she finished speaking, Lu Wu appeared out of thin air.
The young woman was expressionless: “One person may open the gate of Heaven and Earth. Master Mother’s reward can only go to one person.”
“So…from the very start…You had no intention of letting us live.” Chang’s body was already ice-cold in his arms, making Qi Lin’s heart turn completely cold.
“I gave you a chance. Pity that you did not find that chance.” Hou Yi sighed heavily: “I saw from these past few days that a man like you is a Qilin Child of the heavens. If I did not have a contract, This Sovereign actually would be very willing to make you serve as This Sovereign’s Emissary, to attack the Register Of Deities together.”
“Sister Hou Yi, was my work insufficient?” Shi Xuan was a bit angry to hear these words.
Hou Yi coldly said to her: “Shi Xuan, compared to him, ‘mediocre’ is already the greatest praise for you.” The Ancient Arrow Sovereign’s words were simply cutting. Shi Xuan, who had still retained a bit of warmth, now looked at Qi Lin with eyes full of hatred.
“I would have no interest in a Divine General like you even if you were handed to me.” Qi Lin hugged the ice-cold Chang tight.
Hou Yi smiled, “I will treat this as your last act of courage before death.”
“Ah, you can have the Queen Mother’s reward. This One no longer wants it.” Xuanxuzi saw the situation was unfavorable. He used the Dark Light Void Escape Technique, turning to flee the Nine Divine Gates.
But the instant he turned around, the way Hou Yi had been strumming her bowstring abruptly changed. In an instant, the Sunset Over Western Hill was already drawn to full. Then, in a single breath, she shot a Sun-chasing Arrow without mercy.
The Blue Sky Seal met the Sun-chasing Arrow.
But in Hou Yi’s eyes, a Primordial Infant cultivator was nothing more than livestock. Her arrow contained Ten Million Destinies power. The arrow shot out like a rainbow chasing after the sun. The Blue Sky Seal’s omnipresent blue light could hardly suppress the Sun-chasing Arrow.
The Sun-chasing Arrow pierced through the Blue Sky Seal like a meteor, the remaining power undiminished.
Xuanxuzi’s Black Void Barrier was unable to withstand Hou Yi’s arrow. His corporeal body was immediately turned to dust. With an infant’s wail, Xuanxuzi’s Primordial Infant flew out from his Niwan Palace. The Primordial Infant was no larger than an arrow, small and adorable, but Xuanxuzi was too late to use other powers. After Hou Yi’s Sun-chasing Arrow punched through his corporeal body, the light upon the arrow engulfed everything like the sun’s flames.
The only just emerged Primordial Infant Xuanxuzi screamed and was immediately reduced to ash by the blaze.
In the blink of an eye, only Qi Lin was left outside the ninth Divine Gate.
Three companions had been shot dead by Hou Yi in an instant.
“Truly foolish. Sister Hou Yi’s Sun-chasing Arrow is not only fast, but once struck, it is completely impossible to escape the arrow-light.” Shi Xuan derisively gazed at Qi Lin, as if she was goading him to flee.
“Ever since killing Huang Feihu, it’s actually been a very long time since I’ve battled an Invested Deity Emissary.” Qi Ling gently put Chang down and exhaled.
“Although you want to die honorably, it is a pity that everything turns to ash under my Sun-chasing Arrow…” Nocking an arrow, Hou Yi disdainfully smirked at Qi Lin’s pride.
Twang.
The arrow was loosed.
Million Destinies.

Hou Yi coldly said to her: “Shi Xuan, compared to him, mediocrity is already the greatest praise for you.”
S Tier BITCH!
Qi Qi! Time to play!
Yeah, that’s cold, even to her own Emissary. Also, changed the text to be a bit more grammatically correct.
