Qi Qi’s iron fist was like a mountain as it thundered upon the Taowu.

The enormous evil qi was nearly scattered under the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven’s punch. The Taowu roared, for it surprisingly was sent flying by the punch.

The little girl haughtily stood in front, her glare ruthless.

“Great Sage, this is the Taowu of the Four Perils. We cannot entangle ourselves with it. We must save the young master and leave, hurry.” The tiny white ape jumped onto her shoulder and urgently said.

Qi Qi’s face was covered in displeasure, and she did not pay heed to its warning.

“Qi Qi!” Under Qi Lin’s exclamation.

Great Sage Of Equal Heaven Sun Wukong already sent another punch hurtling towards the Taowu.

“I smell an even sweeter, more beautiful power. Oh, too beautiful. This One has never seen one so pure. It is beyond the Three Worlds, not of the Five Elements, without karma…Oh, it truly is too brilliant. I must devour you.” It was only one punch, but the Taowu tasted Sun Wukong’s pure Divine Energy.

A Divine Name immersed in the quintessence of the sun and moon as well as the spiritual influence of Heaven and Earth was an unattainable legend even across all of Primordial World. Such a Destiny was comparable to the beginning of primordial chaos itself, the quintessential qi birth following the creation of Heaven and Earth. Consuming it would be sufficient to allow the Taowu to free itself of this tomb’s shackles.

“Grievances Swallow Heaven!!”

The Taowu opened its mouth wide. The immense mausoleum space’s black smoke was like a monster opening its jaw and biting at her. Countless wisps of black smoke chains emerged from empty space. One tendril after another wound around Sun Wukong’s limbs. This ten thousand year old grudge’s power was inescapable for even the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven.

“Great Sage, look out!!”

The white ape was frightened out of its wits.

The black smoke opened its maw to devour Qi Qi, who struggled fiercely. Every time she freed herself of the ten thousand year grudge, it recovered just as quickly. Even with her boundless strength, she could hardly get away.

“Who is this girl…” Wang Jian was stunned. Seeing her dare to engage the Four Perils Taowu, this was simply a bit beyond common sense. “Qi Lin, let’s go, now!” Regardless, this girl who was unafraid of death had succeeded in drawing the Taowu’s attention, which gave the two of them the chance to escape.

“You go first!” Qi Lin was resolute.

“What are you doing? Staying here to be buried? We won’t have a second stroke of luck.” Wang Jian worriedly said. This was the first time she had been so concerned over a man. Who could have thought that moments ago, this man had been the target she wanted to kill.

“She’s my little sister.” Qi Lin calmly inhaled.

Little sister?!

Wang Jian’s thoughts were in disarray.

Qi Lin handed Shang Yangjun to Wang Jue and hardened his gaze. The Heaven-shaking Bow and Cloud-piercing Arrow appeared in his hands.

As resounding as thunder.

The bowstring erupted, tearing apart space. The arrow was like a shooting star. The Cloud-piercing Arrow was a spiraling ray of white light, and the expansive black curtain was ripped open by the arrow. “Dark Heaven magic treasure!” The Taowu was shot by the arrow. The Dark Heaven magic treasure’s power directly pinned it to the wall inside the hall.

“Little Sister, let’s go!” Qi Lin grabbed the headstrong Great Sage Equal Of Heaven, no longer lingering here.

Although the Four Perils Taowu had its cultivation greatly debilitated and was injured by the Dark Heaven magic treasure, he still wanted to capture it. However, Qi Lin’s Realm was currently insufficient to do so; the reason he could excavate several of China’s dangerous tombs and escape unscathed was mostly because he understood what to take and what to give up on, to not have a greedy heart.

A moment later, as Qi Lin expected, the Taowu broke free of the Dark Heaven magic treasure’s power and lunged again.

A wisp of black smoke shot through the mausoleum’s pathways, but following Qi Lin and the others’ leap across the gate of life and death, the tomb’s forbiddance made the Taowu once again unable to advance a step. “I will remember you, accursed man. I will surely find you, surely torment you, surely make you realize what despair is!!” The Taowu wrathfully slammed itself against the barrier.

“I’ll be waiting!” Qi Lin smirked.

Boom.

The mountain caved in and buried the tomb.

Sunlight penetrated the scattered leaves, sprinkling shadows around. Fresh air filled his lungs, and each step towards the world of “life” strengthened his mind even more.

Wang Jian quietly looked at Qi Lin. To be able to escape from one of the Primordial Four Perils this time was like a dream. Although the Four Perils were not considered very strong in Primordial World, to a True Ancient Realm Divine Name and a Qi Refinement Sixth Deva cultivator, no one would believe them if word got out. In particular, Qi Lin’s composed manner on the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches had enormous impact on the woman’s heart.

She had signed a contract with this man.

Wang Jue’s heart did not contain even the slightest bit of revulsion.

“Jue’er, although your figure is fantastic, and I’m very happy to admire it, maybe it’s better for you to wear something.” Qi Lin’s gaze suddenly turned towards her. He looked her up and down, carefully examining her.

“Ah.” Wang Jue only then recalled that she had been profaned by the vile water in the coffin, her clothes dissolved, leaving but a few scraps hanging on her body.

Her body that was as spotlessly white as a beautiful jade sculpture reflected bits of light under the sun’s rays, yet Wang Jue remained calm and open. While her face was red, she did not panic. As for her body, there was no secret left after she had been profaned by this young man while they were inside the coffin. Acting coy now was just a joke.

Qi Lin walked towards her.

Wang Jue was startled, her heart somewhat nervous. She pressed her legs together, and her hands covered her exposed allure. “What are you doing…”

Qi Lin stepped to past her and arrived beside Shang Yangjun. He picked up the girl and fished out a spare green lotus skirt from Shang Yangjun’s luggage, “Wear it.”

Wang Jue put on the clothes. Her figure was much more curvaceous and mature compared to Shang Yangjun. The girl’s slim skirt highlighted Wang Jue’s shapely figure and curves in even greater prominence. Add on her dignity as the Vermilion Bird Divine General, she was surprisingly more attractive than when she was unclothed.

“You truly are too beautiful.” Qi Lin was in awe.

“Hmph.” Qi Qi snorted.

“Is this Little Sister that your Divine Name, Qi Lin?” Wang Jian restored her temper. In the cave, she had already seen the girl’s evil qi, which was only stronger than the Four Peril’s.

“She is the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven Sun Wukong Qi Qi.” Qi Lin did not hid anything.

“Great Sage Equal Of Heaven Sun Wukong?”

Wang Jian thought for a moment. She was not very familiar with this Divine Name.

“I am Wang Jian, Vermilion Bird Divine General of ‘Ancient Qin,’ True Name Wang Jue.”

“Hmph.”

“Qi Lin, come with me to Ancient Qin right now. I guarantee you by my identity as Wang Jian, they will definitely help you ascend to Heaven in a single bound. Work with me, and we will seize a position on the Register Of Deities.”

“Jue’er, you still want to go back to Ancient Qin?” Qi Lin asked.

“Your Servant is a great general of Ancient Qin, how can I betray Shi Huang Di. Furthermore, with our Realm, we are not like those Ancient Divine Names. We must unite together, take advantage of our national wealth to ward off the Invested Deity tribulations. Only then can we survive.” Wang Jian urged: “A hundred thousand years ago, the Shi Huang Di Divine Name birthed its Star Name from the Register Of Deities and already deterred the primordial. This time, we can prevail over her Divine Name for sure.”1

“To actually dare proclaim herself Shi Huang Di, I feel this tribulation will be difficult to avoid.” The white ape said.

The human realm of Primordial World, that is, the laity, had strict rules governing the usage of the words sovereign, emperor, king, duke, and gentleman.2 Only gods could be sovereigns, emperor referred to the ancient monarchs that ruled over the human world, while king referred to the successive kings of the various kingdoms. To show that their virtues and achievements were lacking compared to the rulers of antiquity, they showed modesty by using only king, never emperor. Duke referred to the greatest rulers below king, including various dukes and princes, and gentleman referred to refined people with cultural achievements or virtuous character.

Originally, the secret rules for these five characters had lasted harmoniously from the birth of Primordial World, up until a hundred thousand years ago when Shi Huang Di Ying Zheng was birthed by the Register Of Deities and declared herself above the “Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors.” Only then was this rule broken.

Afterwards, all kinds of emperors, gentlemen, sovereigns, and kings appeared everywhere. Even cultivators began investing themselves with these titles.

“The head of my house is a true Founding Dragon, beyond comparison to those little people who hold themselves in such high esteem.” Wang Jian solemnly vowed,  “Yao accepts advice, Shun seeks advice.’ That Shi Huang Di is wise is why she does not lose out to the ancient Emperors Yao and Shun. The Great Primordial Western Province will definitely be united under the Ancient Qin. Qi Lin, come with me, I will recommend you to Her Majesty. With your capabilities, no man in all of the Great Primordial Western Province, nay, in Primordial World can compare to you. You will definitely receive an important office and become the sage of our generation.”

“What a joke. Big Brother doesn’t have interest in entangling himself with your mundane power struggles.” Qi Qi sneered, somewhat displeased.

“Qi Qi and I have other matters to attend to, so fulfilling an ambition is something I’m afraid I can’t do with you.” Qi Lin said.

Wang Jian apparently foresaw this. A phoenix could not be kept in a cage nor a dragon in a pond. Some Divine Names were bound to not need the “fate of a nation” to defend against their predestined “fate.” For some reason, Wang Jue was a bit reluctant to part. She uttered a few more entreaties, but seeing Qi Lin’s resolve, she could only give up.

“You may as well come with me. The tallest trees in the forest are always the first to fall to the wind. Shi Huang Di’s fame is too great. I’m afraid countless Divine Names want to devour her.” Qi Lin countered with his own urging.

“It is precisely for this reason that Wang Jian cannot leave. Since you are so determined, Qi Lin, I will not force you. However, King Zhou wants to initiate the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner. Shi Huang Di worries she has a scheme…”

“Oh, don’t worry. I just so happen to have some interest in the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner. I won’t let her use this banner to harm your Shi Huang Di. After all, you’re my woman now, I’ll have to be considerate of you.” Qi Lin smiled.

“I am Divine General Wang Jian. When did I become your woman.” Wang Jue said emphatically.

Qi Lin laughed: “Okay, okay, okay, then, I’m your man.”

Wang Jue nodded. This was more acceptable, yet upon second thought, did this not mean the same thing.

“Never mind, you saved me this time. I, Wang Jian, am not as skilled as you and thus concede defeat. In the future, I will focus wholeheartedly on cultivation. There will be a day I repay you this favor.” Wang Jue was somewhat exhausted.

“King Zhou Di Xin is a brutal, powerful, yet also cunning ruler. In your trip to Zhaoge, you must be cautious.” Wang Jue warned: “She toppled the Kingdom of Zhou and with methods that were vicious. Be wary of this convening of the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded. It would be for the best that you absolutely not go to Zhaoge, this den of dragons and tigers.”

“Look out for yourself, too.”

“I will pass my Destined Skill to you. Then, I will have helped you in the end.”

Wang Jian sat across from Qi Lin and locked eyes with him.

The woman opened her mouth, and a red light appeared. This red light’s delicious aura stirred Qi Qi’s appetite, and she fidgeted restlessly.

This was Destiny, different from when after a Divine Name perished. A contracted Star General’s Destiny was able to live, able to mature alongside her and become even stronger. However, for a Star General, to pass on her own Destiny was a symbol of supreme faith. This was because her own Destiny would suffer harm. As compensation, Qi Lin also gave the “Destined” Weight Of Mount Tai that he had refined to Wang Jian.

An exchange of Destiny was like a communion of passionate love. The entire process was filled with pleasure, contact, and an intercourse.

They had clearly been mortal enemies yesterday, yet today, they seemed like lovers stuck to each other, reluctant to part, leaving them between laughter and tears. However, the Taowu disaster and the nap in the coffin had indeed made the two of them experience an unprecedented intimacy in addition to their contracted relationship. It was inevitable they would feel close.

The moon peeked overhead, and the night was silent. In the end, Qi Lin and Wang Jian both collapsed onto the ground and passed out, physically exhausted.

Qi Qi dangled from a tree, propping up her cheek: “I also want to do this with Big Brother.”

“Great Sage’s Destiny is too powerful. Given Emissary’s constitution, Your Servant fears he will be unable to bear it and will explode and die.” The white ape was apprehensive. A Destiny intercourse with a True Ancient Realm Divine Name left Qi Lin unconscious in the end. If he likewise did so with the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven, perhaps he could not sustain her destiny and be utterly destroyed.

“Furthermore, Great Sage is always beside the Emissary. Exchanging Destiny would be completely meaningless.”

Qi Qi simply did not listen to the white ape at all.

“Then This Great Sage will do it with Big Brother once I grow a little more.”

“…Cough…Very well.” The white ape wiped his sweat.

The two were conversing when Wang Jian woke up at this time. She quietly looked at Qi Lin’s face, rose, donned her clothes and tidied her appearance. “Qi Qi, I will leave Qi Lin to you from now on.” Wang Jian looked at the girl dangling from the tree.

“Big Brother is always mine.” Qi Qi’s arms folded across her chest as she harrumphed.

Wang Jian bowed to her. She looked at Qi Lin’s lips and recalled their kiss in the coffin. She gently pecked his lips. Then, she stared deeply at him, singing an ancient folksong as she turned and left.

“There is no joy greater than a new encounter, no sorrow greater than a separation!”

The Great Sage Equal Of Heaven did not understand what she heard and inquired with the white ape extensively.

The white ape did not understand the songs of humans.

Qi Lin lay atop the grass. At some point in time, he had woken up. The starry sky that was here since ancient times fell into his view.

“The thing in this world that makes us most happy is our meeting. The thing in this world that makes us most sad is when we part while we yet live.”

  1. Confusing here, but what I think this means is that bearers of Divine Names must face tribulations related to their Divine Names. The time has come for the current Shi Huang Di to do so.
  2. 皇 (huang), 帝 (di), 王 (wang), 公 (gong), 君 (jun)
