Pure Sky?
Pure Sky was a type of peculiar crystal from the Primal Chaos Period, available only in the Pure Deva of the Thirty-three Devas. It absorbed worldly qi and was extremely flawless.
It was an expansive blue like the sky, so named for its purity and perfection.
Pure Sky had a very significant effect, which was that it resisted Divine Intent.
In Primordial World, there was a saying, “A thought through eternity, a thought from life and death.” Regardless of cultivator or Divine Name, they were able to make their thoughts reality. Whether for offense or for scans, one thought created all things, and it was said that these thoughts themselves could be cultivated.
The heavenly way had its own thoughts, like that of stars.
The stronger one was, the more pure and flawless their thoughts, approaching the most original of states. They could even reach a level where their thoughts were one with the will of the heavenly way, and when this level was achieved, they could become a sage.
But powers and cultivation methods that cultivated “Divine Intent” were as rare as phoenix feathers in Primordial World. Rumor had it that Ling Chaoxi of Primordial World’s Four Dukes relied on Divine Intent cultivation to make a single leap into peak level. When he was eighteen years old, he was able to use “One Thought” to produce all manners of things, surpassing Truth Return Four Symbols Realm; he could be described as a stunning genius.
However, top-notch abilities that could cultivate Divine Intent were extremely rare. Even the cultivation methods that did circulate around were second-rate, some of them being self-detrimental, on the contrary, resulting in qi deviation.
Thus, some cultivators or deities would seek alternatives, beginning with magic treasures.
Pure Sky was one of these.
Pure Sky could resist the incursion of all thoughts, remaining impervious even to those several Realms higher. This unique characteristic alone was sufficient to turn Pure Sky into a priceless treasure in everyone’s eyes, but Pure Sky was more than that. If it was fashioned into an accessory, the light it emitted would temper the wearer’s thoughts slowly over time, reaching a level of “thoughts as vast as the sky, flawless as the first supreme.”
“In other words.” Qi Lin stared at this jewel.
“En, this gem should be fashioned from Pure Sky, and Emperor Yao forged it into void space.”
“If that’s the case, how do we get the secret inside the jewel?” Nezha was speechless.
How could they learn anything when even thoughts were unable to enter.
“The thoughts of outsiders cannot enter the Emperor Yao Jewel, but if it was Emperor Yao herself, it is possible.” Yu The Great said.
“And Emperor Yao is dead.” Nezha did not understand Yu The Great’s meaning.
Qi Lin knew what she was referring to. Since Emperor Yao had given him the gem, this meant he already received her acknowledgement. What he needed to do right now was to recall the circumstances when he first saw Emperor Yao’s thought, to bring the mindset of that time in and merge it with Emperor Yao in order to open the Pure Sky.
Qi Lin closed his eyes and quietly recalled.
He still remembered the feeling of the first encounter with Emperor Yao’s Divine Intent. Qi Lin’s Divine Intent recalled the scene from that moment. Spontaneously, the aura of Emperor Yao’s lingering intent seemed to merge with his own thoughts. His thoughts in that moment had already received Emperor Yao’s recognition, so the merging of the intents was very smooth.
When he again imbued his thoughts into the Emperor Yao Jewel, he saw the Pure Sky once more, but this time, these crystals quickly vanished by the layer in front of his eyes, and he very easily reached the center.
In the center was a large cauldron.
This cauldron slightly resembled the Four Goats Square Zun. It had an elongated neck and elevated circular legs. The neck portion was towering, and its four sides were decorated with leaf patterns, tri-horned kui patterns and the faces of beasts. The middle of the zun was the vessel’s center of gravity, and a spirit was at each of the zun’s four corners. However, while the Four Goats Square Zun had goats, this cauldron had the Four Symbols.
Split into Azure Dragon of the East, White Tiger of the West, Black Turtle of the North, and Vermilion Bird of the South.
These Four Symbols sculptures were vivid and lifelike, very much like the genuine Four Symbols that Qi Lin had seen.
The Square Zun’s corners were decorated with tall reliefs of clawed serpents. On each of the four sides of the zun, where two heads were adjacent , a twin-horned dragon head jutted out from the surface of the vessel, winding from the right shoulder of each side of the Square Zun to the middle of the front.
Although this “Four Symbols Square Zun” was magnificent and majestic, it only gave Qi Lin a sense of mediocrity.
The Four Symbols Square Zun did not have any magical energy aura to speak of, and it was even somewhat lacking. Clearly, it was unfinished.
Qi Lin approached the Square Zun. Inside it were four items.
An elaborate box.
A strip of translucent jade.
A scroll.
A blue pill.
The elaborate box was a magic treasure, and astonishingly enough, it was the Heavenly Evolving Corridor.
The scroll contained a few records, some of which were fragmented accounts of Emperor Yao’s life at the time and the occasional tidbit of secret information on the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court. Qi Lin wanted to know a few things about the Great Sage Equal Of Heaven, and while there were some records within, they were vague and nondescript. Apparently, Emperor Yao had some reservations.
However, there was a mysterious poem in there that caught a bit of Qi Lin’s interest.
It read:1
The blue pill kept for ten thousand years still wafted its medicinal fragrance and an overwhelming spiritual energy. Since Emperor Yao had placed it inside the Square Zun, it should be a very important divine elixir, perhaps even for the new Emperor Yao to consume. Qi Lin did not dare ingest it without permission. These items were not related to the Divine Cauldron, so Qi Lin placed his last hope on that jade strip.
His thoughts entered the strip, and as expected, this jade strip recorded none other than some materials and her experiences in casting the “Fortune Divine Cauldron.”
Back then, Emperor Yao was the Divine Emperor who presided over the Great Primordial’s Northern Continent. The Northern Primordial was Primordial World’s most savage and dangerous place, one that nurtured many a ferocious beast, and the ancient rivers of the Eight Desolates often would divide its people into countless tribes, each supported by a Divine Name. For territory and for glory, they often waged war, leaving the people in suffering and in devastation. Emperor Yao was kindhearted and could not bear to see the Northern Primordial be like this always.
Thereupon, she conceived of the idea to forge a magic treasure that could secure the Northern Primordial’s fortune, to let it prosper for eternity.
She forged nine cauldrons, eight Divine Cauldrons to stabilize the Northern Primordial’s Eight Desolates and to symbolize the eight directions, with the final ninth serving as the core treasure that controlled the other eight.
Over a thousand years, Emperor Yao secretly forged eight cauldrons, but the last one to act as the controller of the other eight – the ninth was very difficult to cast. Of the materials and refinement method that this Divine Cauldron required, Emperor Yao’s exhaustive research found the method in the end, but the required materials were very demanding.
Mount Buzhou Copper, earth of xirang, Thunder Swamp water, Tianbao Jiuru Jade, Wanshou charcoal, blood of the Four Symbols, Qilin Illusory Sand, and even innate qi.
Seeing these materials, Qi Lin was simply speechless.
As expected of an Earlier Heaven Fortune magic treasure. Only a high-ranking Divine Emperor had the qualifications to think of such materials.
Mount Buzho Copper came from the Western Continent’s Mount Buzhou, which was one of Primordial World’s Five Great Divine Mountains. This mountain range was said to span a billion li and reach heights of a million zhang; not Immemorial Realm Divine Names were able to see the ends of it. It was said that this mountain’s peak could connect to the Thirty-three Devas. Mount Buzhou produced a type of copper ore that was reportedly the foundation of Primordial World itself and could last for ten thousand years. Only one with the power of a half-sage could lift this ore, and consequently, it was named Mount Buzhou Copper.
Earth of xirang derived its name from “xirang.” This soil was capable of self-production and was inexhaustible. It was the pinnacle of “earth element” materials. Goddess Nüwa use xirang to forge an Earlier Heaven magic treasure known as the “Nine Heavens Xirang.” Once this treasure appeared, it could bury a hundred li ocean and smother armies with sand; it was very terrifying.
As for Thunder Swamp water, divine jade, and the others, while Qi Lin did not have a very strong impression, he feared they were not unremarkable in background.
Fortunately, Emperor Yao had already obtained these materials and forged the ninth cauldron. This perfect Divine Cauldron was merely missing the final step.
The Earlier Heaven Qi and water from the Thunder Swamp.
According to the jade strip’s records, after forging this Four Symbols Square Zun, it was to be placed into Thunder Swamp water and immersed for forty-nine days, Great Evolution for fifty, Heavenly Evolution for forty-nine, leaving a slim chance at life for all things in Heaven and Earth.
After forty-nine days, the Earlier Heaven Qi and the Divine Cauldron would merge in the Thunder Swamp.
After entering the final forging, one would imbue their own thoughts into the cauldron, and the Four Symbols Square Zun would be successfully completed.
Of course, auspicious timing was also required for the placement of the Divine Cauldron into the Thunder Swamp for its soak, and it needed to be on the day Kan and Li merged. In other words, on the final day, the Thunder Swamp water needed to have the phenomenon of “sun and moon in parallel.” Only then could this produce Earlier Heaven Qi.
Emperor Yao had already deduced this “sun and moon in parallel” phenomenon, but she never expected that, in the end, the Three Doctrines would subjugate the Heavenly Court. She had no choice but to cease this activity.
When Emperor Yao saw that the Heavenly Court’s power was already foregone, in order to prevent the “ninth cauldron” from falling into the Third Doctrine’s hands, she sealed it inside the divine palace and used geomancy formation arts to function as a safeguard.
That is, until they were dispelled by Qi Lin.
…
Retrieving his thoughts from the Emperor Yao Jewel, Qi Lin then relayed his discoveries to everyone.
Hearing about the final Divine Cauldron’s background, about Emperor Yao’s painstaking efforts, everyone was deeply impressed by her.
“Emperor Yao indeed is a kind emperor, to actually have spent so much effort to forge a magic treasure, all for the sake of our Northern Primordial’s fortune.” Hou Ji increasingly adored this Divine Emperor who once ruled over the Northern Primordial. Although she did not see her face or hear her voice, the girl adulated Emperor Yao completely.
Yu The Great was also very impressed, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
“If she had not fallen, the Northern Primordial would have prospered for generations.”
“What a pity.”
“Enough of this for now. So long as we successfully forge the last Four Symbols Square Zun, we can control the other eight. When the time comes, we can break the Eight Directions Flood Formation and quell the floods, still achieve Emperor Yao’s wish, to use the cauldrons to stabilize the Northern Primordial’s fortune for a thousand years.” Qi Lin said.
Thinking they could achieve Emperor Yao’s wish, Hou Ji and Bo Yi were very moved.
Because the floods had already nearly submerged the Northern Primordial, the time they had left amounted to little more than half a year at most; they needed to successfully forge the Divine Cauldron as quickly as possible. Otherwise, billions would suffer when the time came. From what Qi Lin saw in the jade strip, the nearest “sun and moon in parallel” would be in sixty days. If they missed this time, they would need to wait until the next cycle.
“However, where is this ‘Thunder Swamp?'” Qi Lin did not understand much about Primordial World and was not sure where the Thunder Swamp was located. If it was somewhere else like the Eastern Continent or Western Primordial, that truly would be a choke at the final stretch.
Fortunately, the Thunder Swamp was in the Northern Continent.
However, it was not in the Northern Primordial, but below the Northern Continent’s ancient Mount Kun.
One of Primordial World’s Twelve Savage Regions.
Qi Lin did not like the sound of that very much. This signified that soaking the Four Symbols Square Zun in the Thunder Swamp’s water would not be very easy. However, this was only natural. Successful casting of an Earlier Heaven Fortune magic treasure could not ever possibly be done so easily in Primordial World.
As they say, Heaven rewards the diligent.
The heavenly way always admired those who strove forth with effort. The more dangers one experienced, the greater the rewards she gave.
As Qi Lin and Yu The Great discussed arrangements for the journey, at this moment, General Xian Zhen’s voice came from outside the door.
“King Yu, the Yellow Emperor has invited you to pay the Li a visit.”
“Elder Sister asked me?” Yu The Great was a bit surprised. She glanced at Qi Lin. At such a critical moment, Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan’s request was not good. She did not want to engage in side issues or waste time.
“She has also invited Your Distinguished Self Qi Lin.” Xian Zhen said respectfully to Qi Lin, her tone a bit envious. To be able to receive Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan’s invitation, this was a rare honor that a Divine Name could not compete with.
“Sister Xuanyuan was injured in battle against Gonggong. No matter what, we must go visit her.” Qi Lin faintly smiled at Yu The Great.
Yu The Great understood and ordered.
“Inform the messenger. This King and Elder Brother shall prepare to go meet Elder Sister.”
“As you command.”
