Afterwards, every time there was Yin spiritual influence, Qi Lin would step out in advance. Then, he would first refine the Escaping Heavenly Shuttle, however, after entering the Western Sea, the Yin spiritual influence also grew increasingly abundant. In the end, it had been a long time since he saw that mysterious woman, who had apparently vanished. When he asked Wang Jian, she was not very sure.

The master of the Immortality Boat was “Alchemist Of Immortality” Xu Fu. Setting out to sea was a considerably endless and dull process. To a Star Name, it was a great waste of time, and if it was not for Qi Lin and the others this trip, Wang Jian would not have joined either. There were many parts to immortality that she was not very clear on.

However, to be able to make Xu Fu use an array that borrowed Yin spiritual qi for cultivation, that woman’s identity was clearly not simple.

The very first ocean scene made Qi Qi somewhat excited, but in the days that followed, the girl appeared very bored. She stayed in the cabin, snoring loudly in deep slumber, refusing to come out. Every day, Qi Lin cultivated his Qi Refinement Ninth Deva’s peak Realm, preparing for the core formation at the end. Three of the twelve banners were finally refined after a long and bitter cultivation period, but while cultivating on the seas was very monotonous, it was very safe. To find them in the Western Sea, Yang Jian and Great Emperor Gou Chen may as well be looking for a needle in a haystack.

In an instant, two months had passed, yet Shaman Spirit Island still seemed so faraway.

Today, the Immortality Boat finally docked at an island.

Qi Lin walked out of his cabin. The sailors, guards, and cultivators were already busying about, “Have we arrived at Shaman Spirit Island?” Qi Lin asked Wang Jian.

Vermilion Bird General Wang Jian also appeared quite weary. Wandering two months at sea was honestly exhausting. “No.” The girl mercilessly smashed Qi Lin’s fantasy.

“Then what are we doing right now?” Qi Lin was depressed while Qi Qi was nearly mad. Every night, she wanted to bite his neck.

Wang Jian shook her head; she was not sure either.

The two of them sought out Xu Fu. The woman’s expression was not bad, no different from when they first met; there was no sign at all of maritime wear on her face. “Xu Fu, how much longer before we can reach Shaman Spirit Island?”

“Probably about two more months.” Xu Fu smiled: “Have you gotten used to things now?”

“I’m okay, Qi Qi finds it a bit unbearable.” Qi Lin was helpless. Qi Qi was naturally averse to water, and to have stayed so long on the sea, she was on the verge of insanity.

Xu Fu could understand: “I also found my first trip unbearable, but afterward, I grew accustomed. Now, I find it uncomfortable to not be traveling over the sea.”

“We can’t compare to you.” Wang Jian said. “What is happening now?”

“Oh, the Immortality Boat’s spell formations require another supplement. This will probably need a few hours. I allowed the crew to rest on the island in the meantime.” Xu Fu said.

“Right, there were many jiaozhen1 on the islands in front. You can go try your luck. If you can find one, not bad. They are very useful to a cultivator.” Xu Fu introduced.

“Sure.”

“But you’d better be careful. Some jiaozhen are exceptionally smart. If they glow silver, you must not provoke them.” Xu Fu warned.

“I really did get you caught up in this, Jue’er.” Over the past few days, Qi Lin had already used a closer address.

At some point, Wang Jian had accepted it, “No need to be modest. This is something I ought to do. If you die, I’ll also be very vexed.”

The ocean wind was gentle as the two walked shoulder-to-shoulder over the ocean surface.

It was an endless expanse that rested the mind.

“Right, I didn’t figure out the identity of the girl you mentioned, but she should be living in a special level of the boat and with very good protection. She should be an honored guest, or she may be someone Xu Fu is familiar with.” Wang Jian recalled this matter.

Qi Lin actually was not very concerned.

“Let’s not disturb her.”

Wang Jian nodded, thinking the same.

After a long silence, the woman asked: “If you can’t find a route to the Eastern Sea once you reach the Shaman Spirit Kingdom, what will you do?”

“The world is so vast, there’ll always be a way.” Qi Lin smiled: “I heard Xu Fu say that this Shaman Spirit Kingdom is the Western Sea’s greatest medical kingdom, that the entire Western Primordial’s spirit medicines are practically exchanged from there. Even the cultivators from the other great provinces come to conduct business. Since it’s so bustling, there should be many routes.”

“But also very dangerous.”

“What, you seem reluctant to let me leave.” Qi Lin grinned.

Wang Jian was taken aback and snorted. “I am just so eager for you to vanish from my sight. But the Western Sea is too far from the Eastern Sea. If you die, that would affect me.”

Seeing that she was a bit duplicitous, Qi Lin was even happier. “I will keep my life nice and safe, however, you will also need to promise me that you’ll do the same.”

“I am a general of the Ancient Qin, no need to worry.”

“En.”

The two crossed several dozen li as they chatted, arriving at a shallow coral reef. They spotted the place with jiaozhen that Xu Fu had mentioned. A multitude of clamshells floated on that ocean surface. One after another, they flickered with faint white light, and jellyfishes floated in the surroundings.

These clamshells were the “jiaozhen” that Xu Fu mentioned; they were a type of marine Strange Beast. Containing a nucleus inside and sparkling with light, they could be ground into medicine or even used as accessories. They were also considered slightly valuable.

Legend said that lovers able to open a jiaozhan and see a moonlight-like pearl inside could grow old together.

However, these jiaozhen were not easily opened. Some intelligent jiaozhen could even be very dangerous.

Wang Jian took her sword and lifted one of the shells. It was absolutely motionless, shut tight, completely impregnable. The jellyfish floating on the shell emitted a weak electric current at this time, which ran through the sword and shocked Wang Jian into nearly dropping her weapon.

These jellyfish were born from the jiaozhen‘s spiritual qi and adhered to it. They naturally emitted and carried electrical current, able to breach a cultivator’s barriers and paralyze nerves.

However, after a long while, Wang Jian finally pried open one of the shells. Inside was a turbid pearl, not at all bright as moonlight like in the legends. The woman showed a disappointed expression.

Wang Jian’s next several dozen jiaozhen did not have satisfactory pearls either.

Qi Lin was not aware of the jiaozhen legend and thought the woman was fond of pearl accessories. “If you keep looking like this, you’ll soon run out of strength.”

“These impure pearls aren’t worth much.” Wang Jian pursed her lips.

“I’ll help you look.”

“How will you do that?” Wang Jian was confused.

Qi Lin chose a higher location and gazed over this strip of water. Countless jiaozhen entered his view. According to fengshui, the best was a place that concealed wind and collected water. Jiaozhen were considered a type of Demon Beast, and the place with good fengshui would evidently grant them sapience even faster. This was like how plants grew towards the sun as best they could.

“Come with me.”

Qi Lin very quickly locked onto a direction and pulled Wang Jian over by the hand.

After another few li they spotted a particularly large one among the countless shells. This jiaozhen was as large as a carriage wheel, and its entire body flickered with silver light. It was particularly eye-catching amidst the many other jiaozhen. Its shell even showed strange patterns as if it was an existence that gathered all others to it.

“Hm?” Wang Jian sensed an intense demon-qi from this jiaozhen.

“This jiaozhen has attained sentience.”

“Xu Fu said such jiaozhen are very dangerous.” Qi Lin wrinkled his brow, for he also sensed a certain pressure.

“Forget it, we’d better not take it.” Wang Jian shook her head. She was not a vain person. Since Xu Fu had carefully warned them, it would be better to leave it be. Qi Lin thought this was reasonable.

“Let’s go back.”

Wang Jian was not reluctant to leave. She turned and started to head back.

Just as Qi Lin was about to withdraw, he suddenly spotted a figure fly towards that giant jiaozhen. That figure was none other than the mysterious girl he previously saw.

    1. Yeah, she’s pretty tsun. It’s quite endearing to see her so determined to find a pure pearl, and then to be so disappointed when she wasn’t able to.
