Qi Lin looked at the evaporating mystery silver, inwardly regretful. If he could collect it and manufacture a set of armor, that would be great. Material that was both strong and gentle was rare even in Primordial World.
Wu Gu knew what he was thinking about, but it was futile. The Shaman Spirit Kingdom had thought to do so before. These mystery silver materials were all under the management of White Emperor Shao Hao; very few people were aware of how to manufacture it. “Let’s go retrieve the cauldron for now.” Wu Gu was afraid there would be more variables and advised against staying.
Although they had anticipated that obtaining the cauldron would not be smooth, they did not expect it be so challenging and dangerous. The pair were completely exhausted. After handling the Mystery Silver Guard, Qi Lin did not even want to move right now. He forcibly roused himself and arrived in front of the hall’s stone door.
This door was exquisitely engraved. Qi Lin inspected the door but found no mechanisms. Then, with the last of his strength, he pushed the stone door open.
Behind the door was a pill hall. Wu Gu said that the man-sacrifice level had twelve such pill halls in total. They were places that White Emperor Shaohao dispatched people to concoct medicine. The pill halls formerly contained complete medicine refinement procedures, but now, they had already been abandoned. The pill hall could concoct a thousand Earth Origin grade pills a day, and twelve pill halls altogether totaled twelve thousand Earth Origin pills. It was easy to imagine how prosperous White Emperor Shaohao’s Western Province was. It was known that even Primordial World’s most famous “Genesis Universe” possessed the best pill refinement Divine Names and scholars, but they could only refine five thousand Earth Origin pills per day at most.
The pill hall was already collecting dust for ten thousand years, yet the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court’s glory was vaguely frozen in every detail within the room.
The lingering medicine fragrance from those times could seemingly still be smelled in the air.
Qi Lin and Wu Gu walked through the pill hall. Along the way, they saw many destroyed cauldrons, even some corpses; these skeletons scattered like dust in the wind.
Very quickly, they saw a dusty cauldron on the last platform.
Qi Lin looked closely. Seeing that everything was safe, he finally stepped onto the platform and gently blew. Dust flew everywhere, revealing the cauldron’s appearance. It was fashioned in the likeness of a luan holding its chick; the cauldron was elegant, like gold or copper, a dark golden color. The cauldron was exceedingly simplistic and solemn.
There were many patterns and talisman scripts on the cauldron.
Qi Lin attempted to lift it, only to discover the Luan Pill Cauldron would not budge an inch, as if it was deeply rooted to the ground and one with it.
“This Luan Pill Cauldron has been imbued with an ancient forbiddance known as ‘Five Elements Divine Lock Curse.’ Only when the curse is lifted can you control this cauldron.” Wu Gu had seen the data in Changliu and was a bit more knowledgeable about the Luan Pill Cauldron. This cauldron was a top-notch magic treasure for concocting pills. In order to prevent theft, the White Emperor’s pill refinement masters added the Five Elements Divine Lock Curse to them. Only by undoing the Five Elements Divine Lock Curse could they use it to refine medicine.
Qi Lin did not feel the Five Elements Divine Lock Curse was very interesting, but Wu Gu answered that this was considered a very common type of ability, belonging to the Five Elements category. When added to the cauldron, the user was required to blend the Five Elements successfully one after another to unlock it.
Qi Lin thought this was like a secret password, requiring a cipher to unlock. However, the key to the lock was in Five Elements materials.
“If you make a mistake, then you will suffer backlash from the Five Elements Divine Lock Curse. In your current state, it may prove fatal.” Wu Gu warned. “Furthermore, after the recoil, the Five Elements combination will have reset to something new.” Meaning that the price of failure was very serious.
“Sister Wu Gu, you don’t know how to dispel it?” Qi Lin was helpless.
“Only the pill refinement masters of the pill hall would know. But they’re already gone. You are an expert in medicine refinement, perhaps you can dispel it, but there is no harm in leaving it alone. As long as you are unhurt, we can still go and take our time checking the other pill halls.” Wu Gu consoled.
Qi Lin had a headache just thinking they could bump into more Mystery Silver Guards.
“I’ll try.”
“Alright.”
Wu Gu did not have high hopes that Qi Lin could dispel the Five Elements Lock Curse. Wu Xian’s luck back then was not bad, for she had somehow obtained a notebook from Changliu’s pill halls. It just so happened that it recorded the dispelling technique for one of the pill halls’ Luan Pill Cauldron. Otherwise, the other Ten Shamans would not have allowed such exceptional treasures to stay buried in these ruins.
Qi Lin was currently circling around the Luan Pill Cauldron, inspecting every detail about it, every design, every Strange Beast depiction.
Then, he smelled it.
A while after, Qi Lin opened his eyes and walked around the pill hall, checking the other cauldrons, even flipping through the belongings scattered amongst the skeletons.
Wu Gu was not sure what he was doing, but she quietly meditated and watched.
…
At the same time, Changliu, sacrificial grounds, in a forest with thick mud.
A gigantic black earthworm rolled out from the mud. This earthworm was grotesque, sleek and scaleless. It flailed through the mud, and black poison barbs shot in every direction from its pores.
These quills dissolved all matter it touch; it was an extremely savage substance.
A woman was flitting about in the middle of the black earthworm’s throes, her body techniques as fast as lightning. The earthworm Demon Beast let out an eerie screech, and it suddenly flew above the woman’s head. Row after row of helical, spiky teeth dotted its open mouth, which was like a black hole.
Countless spikes extended towards the woman to swallow her.
The woman waved her hand, and a water dragon flew forth and slammed into he earthworm’s mouth, releasing a frightening shriek, “A lowly creature dares to be impudent in front of This God. Obediently grind yourself to dust for This God and become medicine.”
The woman was none other than Western Sea God Yan Zi.
Yan Zi’s eyes were like lightning, ice-cold and ruthless. Very quickly, this worm was obliterated by the attack. Divine Energy concentrated and seized the earthworm’s Demon Core, which was reduced to powder under her Divine Energy. Yan Zi opened her mouth and completely absorbed this powder.
As a Divine Name, ordinary pills were not very effective on her. Only by relying on some other methods could she recover quickly. This Golden Core Middle Stage “Earth Worm” lived year round in the mud, absorbing the nourishment of Changliu’s myriad herbs. It was a living tonic, and so long as she ate ten more, she could recover. Then, she would go to the Western Sea and sever her Karma Tribulation. She needed to settle her contest of strength with Yang Jian.
“Yang Jian, hmph, just you wait.” Yan Zi’s expression recovered its warmth, and she cast a sidelong glance: “Why are you here!”
Fuyunzi and his partner deferentially walked out and knelt.
“We greet Lord God.”
“What is the matter.” The woman coldly asked.
“Lord God, we just spotted the Illusionary Flying Snow fly into Changliu’s horizon.” Fuyunzi said: “We specifically returned to report to Lord God.”
“The Illusionary Flying Snow?” Yan Zi was astonished: “The mount of the White Emperor?”
“Yes.”
Changliu was formerly the location where the White Emperor offered sacrifices. Back then, when the sun and moon rose and fell, the herbs grew everywhere. It would not be strange for the Illusionary Flying Snow to be present. If she could capture such a Spirit Beast to act as her own mount, then she would be as mighty as White Emperor Shao Hao. The insignificant Erlang Shen Yang Jian would then amount to nothing.
“Lord God? Shall we capture it immediately.” Deng Yu said, ingratiating. “We should seize the moment while the Ten Shamans have yet to discover…”
“Hmph, since the Illusionary Flying Snow is the White Emperor’s mount, how can it be captured so easily. If it is hidden in Changliu’s horizon, then that is very bothersome.” Yan Zi sneered.
Fuyunzi also spoke up: “Yes, Lord God. The Ten Shamans did not dare to brashly intrude into Changliu’s last level where sacrifices were made to Heaven. I hear that place is extremely dangerous.”
“A way to obtain this beast…the Spirit Mountain’s Ten Shamans and Yang Jian…Why not just let them find the path for us.” Yan Zi’s brow rose.
“Lord God’s meaning is?”
“Spread news throughout Ten Shamans City regarding the Illusionary Flying Snow. The Ten Shamans and Yang Jian definitely will not sit idle. Let them open the path for us, and then we will be the fisherman that catches both snipe and clam.” Yan Zi had such an idea.
“But if it is taken by Yang Jian and the others?” Fuyunzi was worried.
“This is handled easily. We point them in the wrong direction, for we only need them to open Changliu’s last level.” The woman was brimming with confidence.
“Lord God is wise.”
“However, we must convince them that the Illusionary Flying Snow is inside.” Yan Zi frowned. She glanced at the two, her gaze like daggers.
Fuyunzi cautiously presented his hands.
In his palms was a fragment as thin as a cicada wing.
“This is a piece that fell off when the Illusionary Flying Snow was in battle. Please, Lord God, examine it.”
“Good, good, good. You have done well in this. This Lord God shall reward you two.” Yan Zi grinned.
“It seems God has foreordained that the Western Sea return to This God’s rule!!”
Yan Zi looked at this glimmering muslin-like fragment, her face brimming with an expression of intoxication.
