Yu Huaizheng was infuriated in his heart. I’m the magnificent Supreme General of the Southern Suppression Camp. What dignity would I have if word got out that the lofty ruler of the area is unable to intimidate even a young brat. Immediately, he concentrated his magic energy and used his Second Layer Greater Thunder Tribulation, Void Return Realm Divine Intent.

Formless pressure clamped down. The Divine Intent of cultivators that reached the Void Return Realm already contained a lifetime of blood-soaked killing intent, able to make any cultivator deeply feel the terror of their experience, a terror that seemingly came from the void. Even if Chen Mo was already God Transformation, to withstand Void Return Realm was not so easy.

Seeing Yu Huaizheng’s eyes erupt with light, Chen Mo could not help but sneer inside his heart.

Chen Mo treated this usage of his power to restrain him truly as brandishing a broadsword in front of Lord Guan. Let alone that he was Third Layer Greater Thunder Tribulation, even Human Sovereign or Earthly Star might would hardly faze him.

After practicing the Book Of Changes Black Turtle, Chen Mo’s constitution was on a higher level. His bodily and even his mental defenses were both invincible.

Yu Huaizheng could not help but be taken aback when he saw Chen Mo remained free and easy.

Hm?

Yu Huaizheng thought he was seeing things.

Just at this moment, Chen Mo’s eyes narrowed. His eyes were like the boundless heavens, and a Deva-like might shot into his own pupils. A powerless feeling like he was as insignificant as an ant suddenly overwhelmed him. Yu Huaizheng screamed, taking several steps back, his eyes full of disbelief.

All of the officers and soldiers were in an uproar, hardly able to believe that their commander would shrink back in fear from the gaze of a young man.

“You…What is this…” Yu Huaizheng heaved, as if he was someone drowning.

“General, what are you saying. This Highness does not understand.” Chen Mo retracted the Deva Eyes, innocently smiling.

Yu Huaizheng’s expression became extremely stiff. As expected, that Chen Zhangtian, who could cover the heavens with a hand, was not to be underestimated, and his son was unfathomable, too. “Nothing, This General was seeing things.” Yu Huaizheng recomposed himself and smiled naturally in return.

His expression changed, and Yu Huaizheng said again: “However, Your Highness, don’t you feel it is inappropriate to set an example through punishment so ostentatiously? His Imperial Majesty instated you as the Supreme General of Nan Jiang not to let you behave as you please.”

“To suppress Nan Jiang will require strict military discipline, first and foremost. Do you feel this is incorrect, general?” Chen Mo calmly asked.

Yu Huaizheng was completely unconvinced that Chen Mo had the capabilities to subjugate Nan Jiang’s Ancient Miao tribes. He was more convinced that Chen Mo was seizing the opportunity to root out dissidents and debilitate the Southern Suppression Camp. “Does Your Highness truly have the confidence for this? To dare establish military order? If you dare, This General absolutely will not get involved with Your Highness’ conduct and deeds.”

“What wouldn’t I dare.” Chen Mo responded instantly. “If I make the Eight Villages of Nan Jiang’s Ancient Miao acknowledge allegiance to our dynasty, would that not signify that everything Your Servant did in the Southern Suppression Camp was correct.”

“As long as you can make the Ancient Miao’s Eight Villages acknowledge allegiance, then This General will willingly hang up his armor and return to civilian life, and the Southern Suppression Camp’s command shall thenceforth be under Your Highness’ control.” Yu Huaizheng’s promise was filled with evil designs. “If Your Highness is defeated…”

“If I am defeated, then that’s your problem, general.” Chen Mo filled in his sentence.

“Ha, ha, Your Highness is an heir of Chang’an Mansion. This General would not dare. If Your Highness is defeated, then His Imperial Majesty will take care of everything.” Yu Huaizheng smirked.

“Good!!”

Yu Huaizheng’s gaze swept over all the ranking officers, “All of you, remember what happened today. You must wholeheartedly support His Highness…Then This General shall go rest now.”

Saying this, Yu Huaizheng cast another heedless glance at Nianyou, tossing his cloak as he turned and left.

For a moment, Luo Hua and several other officers were unsure of what to do before following after him.

When the Supreme General left, the atmosphere slowly recovered its relaxed mood. Zhang Ming nervously said: “Your Highness, this Nan Jiang definitely is not easy to sort out.” The Southern Suppression Camp had stood guard in Nan Jiang for a century and was unable to suppress the Ancient Miao. There was no confidence in anyone’s heart. In actuality, as he looked at those soldiers below, Zhang Ming was very skeptical as to whether or not these troops would shrink back from battle.

“I have my own ideas. And how is the reporting coming along?” Chen Mo asked.

“Already mostly done. But…” A commandant hesitated.

“But what? Were there some that informed on you?” Chen Mo smiled and said.

The commandant’s mouth hung agape. He lowered his head and said: “Your Highness is very perceptive. Your Humble Servant absolutely did not commit any acts that would dishonor the army.”

“Please understand, Your Highness.”

Chen Mo had already anticipated that something like this would occur, but these so-called reports could only be considered at best fakes that raised a bit of trouble. In his mind, he already had an idea, “Collect them, then dispatch someone to investigate. In seven days, I want the investigation results.”

“As you command.”

After this matter, Zhang Ming and the other officers were already completely throwing in their support for Chen Mo. They realized that no matter what, they could only seek protection from Chen Mo for everything to go smoothly. Otherwise, things afterwards would be troublesome for them.

“Oh, right, Your Highness. Just now…” Zhang Ming hinted to Nianyou but stopped short. He had also noticed the Supreme General’s gaze just now. With Nianyou’s beauty, those criminals would certainly be seduced into another offense.

“No matter who they are, anyone who dares to have ideas about my little sister, I will wipe them off the face of the earth.” Chen Mo sneered. If the Void Return Realm Supreme General dared to offend Nianyou, he would not dare to cut him down.

“Your Humble Servant will definitely protect Her Highness Nianyou with his life.” Zhang Ming and the others heroically declared.

“Get going, I want results.”

“Big Brother.” Nianyou grabbed the hem of Chen Mo’s clothes.

Chen Mo picked her up, “Nianyou must be tired. Let’s go take a break.”

“En.”

Supreme General’s tent.

Yu Huaizheng sat in the center, and several officers followed him in.

When Chen Mo was unable to perceive them, Commandant Luo immediately jeered: “That Highness Chen Mo truly is very brash, to actually dare say he can conquer Nan Jiang’s Ancient Miao.”

“Exactly, even the Great Ancestor Emperor back then was unable to, what can he do.”

“Let’s watch how he dies.”

Yu Huaizheng stroked his chin, slightly grinning: “He is a young lord from Chang’an, after all. He’s lived like a prince, unaware of the dangers of the battlefield. Let’s just watch the show.”

“But General, those brothers are snitching.” Commandant Luo was very worried. It seemed that Chen Mo was determined to kill several hundred people.

“We ask that the general save our lives.” The officers knelt. They had all committed many evil deeds, and fear rose in their hearts.

“Since you left dirt behind, you have only yourselves to blame.” A bodyguard coldly answered.

“Your Humble Servant pledges to follow the general. Should Chen Mo kill us, he definitely will clip General Yu’s feathers.”

Yu Huaizheng waved his hand, hinting for quiet.

This indeed was very troublesome. If Chen Mo actually killed the people he raised, that would be very embarrassing for him. “You wish to live, then what you have to do is actually simple. This General has a safety rope for you.”

“Your orders, please, General. Your Humble Servants shall go to any lengths.” The nefarious officers expressed their devotion.

“That Chen Mo has no foundation in the army, yet he wants to kill a few hundred soldiers. When things reach an extreme, they can only move in the opposite direction, as they say. Some soldiers will save their own hides and band together to kill him. Adviser, do you think this is possible?” Yun Huaizheng’s smile was full of evil.

“The General is wise. This will inevitably occur, absolutely.” The adviser sinisterly said.

Commandant Luo and the others promptly understood his plan.

“Your Humble Servants are very willing to kill Chen Mo together, but Chen Mo has Zhang Ming and those other traitors protecting him…” To have them kill a God Transformation Realm cultivator was dangerous, though they could only do so if they wanted to live. But that would be even more dangerous with those other officers.

Yu Huaizheng naturally could not allow such a thing to occur. If traitors appeared inside the camp and killed their former comrades, then there would be no use for him as a general. “I’ll find an opportunity to move them away. You must find subordinates that are worthy of your trust. Presumably, a thousand warriors should be enough to kill a God Transformation Realm cultivator.”

Commandant Luo and the others hesitated indefinitely. Murdering a Highness of Chang’an mansion was certainly a capital offense.

“You don’t need to worry. His Imperial Majesty is dissatisfied with Chang’an Mansion right now. Don’t tell me you still don’t understand the intention of dispatching Chen Mo to Nan Jiang?” Yu Huaizheng’s expression turned serious: “If you kill him, then you must first flee to Nan Jiang. You can return after the coming destruction of Chang’an Mansion. Of course, This General won’t treat you unfairly either. Rumor has it that Nan Jiang’s Miao Village girls are beautiful and pure, a rare sight.”

Upon mentioning this, Commandant Luo and the others already realized there was no chance to turn back. They knelt on the spot to demonstrate their sincerity.

Yu Huaizheng looked at the cannon fodder in front of him with great satisfaction. He waved his hand to hint to them to leave.

When they left, Yu Huaizheng asked his bodyguard: “Who is the girl at Chen Mo’s side? This General hasn’t heard at all that Chang’an Mansion had produced another princess?

“Quickly go and investigate.”

“As you command.”

“Lord General, are you thinking?” The adviser was taken aback.

Yu Huaizheng’s eyes were aglow: “If Chen Mo dies, This General will naturally take good care of that little princess.”

“Congratulations, General. That girl truly is a gift from the heavens.”

“Ha, ha, ha, ha.”1

Five days passed very quickly. Altogether, there were four to five thousand reports about the camp, far exceeding everyone’s expectations. However, most of these were people with ulterior motives fabricating reports in an attempt to obstruct Zhang Ming’s investigation. But this did not pose any problem whatsoever to Chen Mo. With the statements from Zhang Ming and the others, he only needed to capture a few of them, use the Deva Eyes for persuasion, and then he could sort out the scoundrels.

And when Rivernest City learned of Chen Mo’s deeds, everybody rejoiced. Countless people came forth to testify about the injustices they faced.

Today, Chen Mo was still reviewing those cases.

A bodyguard stepped forward to report: “Your Highness, a woman calling herself ‘Qing Wan’ has come to request an audience.”

“Qing Wan? Why’s she here, let her in.” Chen Mo nodded.

Not long after, Qing Wan walked into the tent. Hardship was carved into the girl’s face, giving her a more heroic and determined feeling compared to before. That arrogance in her eyes had disappeared, making Chen Mo very gratified.

The girl’s figure was increasingly maturing, displaying the beauty of a gorgeous woman.

“Qing Wan, how do you have the time to come see me.” Chen Mo smiled and said.

Qing Wan saluted: “Your Servant greets Your Highness.”

“No need for formalities between us.” Chen Mo replied.

“Your Highness, no matter what you do, you always leave Qing Wan in your dust!” The girl’s expression was serious.

“So you’ve heard about what I did.” Chen Mo was not surprised. Starting from day one, his name already spread throughout Rivernest’s surrounding counties and even into Nan Jiang.

Qing Wan nodded.

Chen Mo hinted to the girl to sit and personally steeped a cup of green radish tea. This was a tea of the south. The tea leaves were fragrant; raised in the warmth of rain and dew, it could revitalize a warrior’s muscles and bones, allowing the mind to obtain tranquility.

“This tea is too valuable.” Qing Wan was overwhelmed by the favor.

“Are you saying that you don’t like the tea I made?” Chen Mo struck the question.

“No, Qing Wan does not dare.”

“I already said, no need to use etiquette. If you keep this up, then I can only dismiss you.” Chen Mo shook his head. Ever since he taught Qing Wan the Bagua, the position that the girl occupied in his heart had changed into something of an apprentice, losing the resentment he held towards her in the past.

Qing Wan’s face flushed, but she resolutely said: “Qing Wan engraves Your Highness’ kindness to heart.”

“No need to be so modest. Don’t tell me you followed me all the way to Nan Jiang to repay my favors with your devotion, right.” Chen Mo chuckled.

Qing Wan blushed even more. The girl’s gaze did not shrink back, as if saying she was willing.

Nianyou was currently practicing her calligraphy. She curiously raised her head and blinked at this odd atmosphere.

Chen Mo fake coughed.

“Qing Wan has a matter to inform Your…you of, Chen Mo.” Qing Wan spoke.

“?”

“There’s a Star General searching for Zhongli Mo, Chen Mo, you need to be careful.” Qing Wan’s expression was serious.

Chen Mo was taken aback. He could not help but smile as warmth filled his heart.

It turned out she was worried about him.

I feel like these descriptions are at odd with one another. Either hardship is carved into her face, or she is becoming a gorgeous woman. I guess the point is to make her look more like a Star General — even though she is in the minority of female characters in this novel who is not actually a Star General.

    1. Mmm, maybe they aren’t contradictory. The first describes Qing Wan’s face, which now reflects someone who has battle experience. She doesn’t have her previous arrogance, which has been replaced by the determination of a warrior. On the other hand, her figure as a whole still maintains feminine beauty.
