Nightfall, Weightbearer Mountain was especially silent.
Qin Weiyu and Wang Sengbian stood guard around the crevice, both of them motionless. The Northern Barbarians’ night sky was bright. However, perhaps it was because of Weightbearer Mountain’s depths, their Star Energy was very lacking.
Both of them were cultivating here at the moment.
A Northern Barbarian warrior ran over urgently and was stopped by other people. That warrior was covered in wounds, his expression a bit panic-stricken. The pair had their cultivation interrupted, and Wang Sengbian asked in displeasure: “What is it?”
“Master.” A female warrior cautiously reported. “Apparently, people from Lu Hanhai’s1 group have intruded. They injured our people from another entrance and entered the holy grounds.”
“Lu Hanhai?!” Wang Sengbian’s expression sank.
“Wang Sengbian, what is the matter?” QIn Weiyu asked.
“Nothing, some clowns, nothing more.” Wang Sengbian indifferently said.
“I hope there will be no mishaps.” Qin Weiyu was not very happy. “I even thought that you already had the Northern Barbarians controlled very submissively, Wang Sengbian.”
“The Northern Barbarians are vast, there will always be some ignorant clowns. Qin Guan, you worry too much.”
The female warrior answered: “Answering to Your Distinguished Self. This Lu Hanhai is chief of some Northern Barbarians who do not follow Master at all. He has assembled a rebel army and hid them in the mountain, breaking the law and throwing us Northern Barbarians into disorder. When they heard that a Highness of the Great Chong Dynasty entered the Black Turtle Holy Grounds, Lu Hanhai brought people to seize it as well.”
“The Northern Barbarian people have a legend from antiquity. Their natural divine might comes from the blessing of the Black Turtle True Spirit. It is only natural that these people do not want Chen Mo to obtain it.” Wang Sengbian disdainfully said: “I would be surprised if they did not go to stop him.”
“Will they cause trouble for Chen Mo?” Qin Weiyu asked, concerned.
“Lu Hanhai has already passed through Third Layer Greater Thunder Tribulation. Otherwise, on what basis would he dare to defy me.”
“He is Dragon Among Men, Human Sovereign Realm?” Qin Weiyu wrinkled her brow.
“If Chen Mo cannot kill an insignificant Human Sovereign, what point would there be in discussing how to kill Huan Wen.” Wang Sengbian was very optimistic.
Her words nevertheless could not be refuted.
“However, should anything happen to Chen Mo, then I, Qin Guan, will certainly annihilate you Northern Barbarians, Wang Sengbian.” Qin Weiyu’s tone was harsh.
Sojourner Of Fangshan laughed. She did not deny one bit that Qin Guan had this power. “You even said that man is not your lover, but surprisingly, you utter such grand words.”
“However, this is the domineering aura that a Star General ought to have.”
The woman nodded, praising her.
At this time, Chen Mo and Chen Luan had just met with their first crisis after entering the Black Turtle holy grounds. Nameless Demon Worms wantonly emerged from the mountain, and Chen Mo carried Chen Luan for a rapid descent, her Luan Flying Swords continuously dancing.
They had fallen approximately ten thousand meters when the crevice’s space finally began to open up. The oppression from the narrow two walls of the mountain disappeared, and Chen Mo exercised his Star Energy.
Bang.
The two of them landed on an uneven rock. His center of gravity was all of a sudden steadied. Although the ground was uneven, Chen Mo’s legs stepped with a feeling of ease.
A fall like that from before honestly was too lacking in a feeling of security.
Chen Luan ignited an illumination talisman. They seemed to have arrived at a wide passageway that led even further down.
The legend of Weightbearer Mountain said that the Black Turtle True Spirit was located at the deepest place. Now, they could only press onwards.
After entering the tunnel, the pungent stench of sulfur became even stronger. However, the disappearance of the spear worm Demon Bugs from earlier already were gone, which was a great relief. Chen Mo did not dare be careless, though, covering all directions with his Divine Intent.
The tunnel was extremely long and stifling. The echoes of their footfalls reverberating through the passage was not as terrifying as silence. The inside of the crevice was like an underground labyrinth, and the entrances to the passage grew in number.
The deeper they went, the hotter the underground temperatures became. Chen Luan’s pace already was beginning to lag behind Chen Mo. She had broken through to the First Layer Of Greater Thunder Tribulation not long before and entered God Transformation Realm. Although her magic energy was abundant, this Black Turtle holy ground honestly was unimaginably deep. Chen Luan was a bit strained.
“Big Sister, let’s rest for a while.”
Chen Mo saw that his big sister was unable to persist and suggested a break. They had already used more than thirty illumination talismans in quick succession. Each one was able burn for an hour. Thirty talismans meant that thirty hours had passed.
“No, the Black Turtle cannot be delayed.” Chen Luan still wanted to refuse.
“It’s underground and can’t escape anyways.” Chen Mo himself willfully sat on top of a rock, directly stopping his progress.
When Chen Luan saw her little brother acting dumb, she also helplessly sat down and found an opportunity to catch her breath. To go further underground required constant magic energy, and more than thirty continuous hours of this had exhausted her.
Chen Mo walked over to his big sister’s side and wiped away the sweat on her forehead. “Third Sister, I’ll pass the Nine Yang Soul Technique to you.”2
“Nine Yang Soul Technique?”
“En, this Soul Technique can resist high temperatures, and it can make your magic energy become even more profound.”
“Isn’t this the signature ability of the Prince of Yang? How are you able to use this?”
“Coincidence.” Chen Mo summarized the events with Chang Princess Diaobing.
“I once heard that the Great Chong Dynasty had a Chang Princess who became a Star General at the same time as Huan Wen. However, I heard that the Chang Princess passed away after inheriting the Star Name. I never imagined she actually was hidden in Wuyang County.”
“Wait until after I kill Huan Wen, we’ll have Princess Chang assume power, and our Chen Family would not be considered rebels.” Chen Mo said.
“Well said, Little Brother. We truly have troubled you so much.” Chen Luan sighed in regret. She thought back to the past. Who could have thought that this little brother who had always been recognized as trash would try to save the Chen Family in its moment of crisis.
Chen Mo imparted the Nine Yang Soul Technique to Chen Luan. Generally speaking, this type of ability required the complete cultivation method to be passed on, but with a formidable power like the Bodhi Soul Technique, enlightening his elder sister was not difficult. As expected of Chen Luan, a genius cultivator of the Great Chong Dynasty, she was already slightly proficient after only a few hours.
The two of them rested a while longer then continued along the path.
After using close to two hundred illumination talismans, the dark and gloomy tunnel finally reached an end.
A bottomless abyss was beyond, and the surroundings unexpectedly had a great number of similar tunnel exits. It appeared that there was more than one path to the Black Turtle holy grounds.
“Do we still need to go down?” Chen Luan stood at the edge and looked down into the pitch-black abyss.
The abyss was like the maw of a monster, unfathomable.
Chen Mo used the Deva Eyes but was unable to see the bottom.
“We should be close.” Chen Mo guessed.
Chen Luan released her Flying Swords, and the pair flew towards the abyss.
Not long after, three figures appeared from another tunnel.
These people were muscular and wore animal hides of the Northern Barbarians. Their eyes were like copper bells, emanating a chilling blood-qi. Astonishingly, they were all Third Layer Greater Thunder Tribulation Realm.
“Hanhai, that Central Plains cultivator has already entered the ‘Black Hall.'” This man’s whole body was a shade of bronze.
“That so?” The man named Lu Hanhai had a tiger-like face. His every movement had a terrifying kingly aura, as if every gesture was a supreme command.
This was shockingly the majesty of a Human Sovereign.
“That cultivator actually is able to escape the ‘White Speartongue’ unharmed. Extraordinary.” A purple-haired man beside Lu Hanhai said, impressed. In his hands, he played with two white earthworm Demon Beasts. They were precisely the “White Speartongues” that Chen Mo encountered earlier. The White Speartongue was not to be looked down upon. These Demon beasts were classified as Ancient Strange Beasts; living deep underground, they were able to burrow through any wall. Their bodies were tough as nails and absolutely silent, very exceptional.
Many of the warriors who entered the Black Turtle holy grounds were nailed to death along the walls during the descent, becoming eternal skeletal ornaments.
“Wang Sengbian truly is ridiculous. She actually wants to bestow our Northern Barbarian holy relic to a Central Plains cultivator. We absolutely cannot allow this man to have his way. Hanhai, let’s go kill him right now.” The bronze-toned man said.
“Tongfeng, don’t be hasty.” The purple-haired man faintly grinned.
“Danbai, aren’t you afraid? I heard this man has received Wang Sengbian’s deep affection. Perhaps he actually has.” Tongfeng3 said.
“This way is best.” Danbai4 said.
“What?”
“In order for us to defeat Wang Sengbian, how many times have people come looking for that holy ground? I fear I have lost track.” Danbai stroked his beard. “But no one has ever found where the True Spirit is located. For the time being, we can watch whether or not that man can find it. Hanhai has this idea, too.”
Lu Hanhai sneered.
“First monitor how far this man can go. Then we kill him without hesitation.”
“Understood.”
“This ‘Black Hall’ isn’t something a Central Plains cultivator can break through so easily.” Lu Hanhai recalled the wretched scene when he entered the Black Hall once before, and his Qi-blood could not help but become excited.
…
What’s going on?
The further down they flew, Chen Mo all of a sudden sensed the the pressure on his body grow bit by bit. This was like gravity had abruptly increased from ten times to more than a hundred times greater than normal. This was obviously an empty space, but it was like being stuck in a quagmire. Surprisingly, moving an inch was difficult.
The Flying Sword under his feet was already unable to withstand this immense feeling of oppression, its speed becoming slower and slower.
“Big Sister.” Chen Mo turned his head back to find that Chen Luan was lagging far behind him.
Chen Luan bit her lip, doing her utmost to fly downwards.
Chen Mo jumped up, but gravity intensified when he went upwards. All of his muscles and bones could feel this invisible pressure, however, Chen Mo cultivated the Black Turtle chapter of the Book Of Changes. Not long ago, he just happened to condense the sixth Black Meridian. His body was very sturdy, and this enormous pressure was still bearable.
But Chen Luan was unfortunate. The girl’s supple body was even more frail. Drained of magic energy, it was difficult for her to resist this kind of pressure. Under such heavy stress, the weak clothing that Chen Luan wore was the very first thing to give out. Her red skirt and leather amor instantly shredded. The red skirt she wore was a defensive magic treasure, but it was unable to withstand this terrible force.
This is bad.5
Chen Mo exercised his power to the limit, bursting through the pressure to arrive in front of his sister.
At this time, Chen Luan’s clothes were already disintegrated. Her glossy, snow-white body was completely threadbare before his eyes. Even in the darkness, it was all distinct. Chen Mo was taken aback, but he did not have time to get a look.
Following the destruction of Chen Luan’s clothes, her skin also seemed to have reached the verge of breaking down.
Chen Mo did not hesitate to take off his Heavenly Silkworm Snow Brocade for her to wear. The brocade was Treasure Clothing of the Inner Star Fields. This finally helped to alleviate the stress on Chen Luan, but the girl was exhausted. She cried out, “Little Brother,” and powerlessly crawled onto his chest.
“Sister, you have to use your magic energy. You absolutely mustn’t lose consciousness at this time.” Chen Mo hugged Chen Luan tight, protecting her within his embrace like she was an infant, bearing the incoming external pressure.
His muscles swelled, and his blood vessels bulged. Chen Mo’s eyes were completely red as he used Star Energy. With a shout, he protected his big sister. Chen Luan’s taut body gradually relaxed, yet her body grew even hotter.

It would have been funny if the Northern Barbarians had referred to Che Mo as a “Southern Plains cultivator,” since those plains aren’t central to them.
