Chapter 330: Strange Senior Sisters

Mount Hua’s Heavenly Law Palace was enormous, with row upon row of pavilions strewn about at random.

Since Mount Hua only had a few people residing here, there were many unoccupied residence halls. Gao Shanxue arranged for Chen Mo to live at North Star Hall and explained some of Mount Hua’s arrangements at the same time. Western Moon Mount Hua was one of Star World’s Five Great Cultivating Star Sects, but Mount Hua’s disciples plus Chen Mo amounted to no more than seven people. There were no strange rules; Daoist cultivation had a saying about three treasures.

Daoism’s Three Treasures were also called Converted Three Treasures, referring to the Dao, the classics, and the master. In learning the Dao, without the Converted Three Treasures, the mind would have no connection to the law. The “Converted Three Treasures” was one part of the way.

Daoism’s Three Treasures were somewhat complex, but the end goal of cultivation was a level of quiet and non-action, to cultivate oneself and enable oneself to gain spiritual tranquility;

Each disciple of Mount Hua had their own mental standards for non-action and the opposite. Cultivation would exhibit it.

Simply put, this all depended on one’s own wits.

Of course, Chen Mo did not truly plan to cultivate at Mount Hua for a long time. So long as he had some comprehension of the Dao, that would be enough. The moment he ascended to Earthly Immortal, he planned move to find Auntie. Right, Chen Mo suddenly recalled that “verse” that Jiang Ziya left him.

“Heaven and Earth first judged and split Yin and Yang, supreme virtue developed from primeval chaos, and the Land of Gods put the people in a state of blood and panic. The twin dragons drive the chariot awaiting the Human Sovereign, supporting the imperial canopy and divining the Heavenly Stems. Henceforth, the sword severs sorrow.” Chen Mo muttered to himself: “I wonder what it means. Since Xiyi is Mount Hua’s headmaster, perhaps she knows a few things.”

Chen Mo decided to go inquire Xiyi when he had the time, to see whether or not he could find some clues pertaining to Nianyou.

Nightfall. Chen Mo was in the middle of reading and rereading the Treatise on the Response of the Dao that Gao Shanxue left him when pounding came from the door.

Chen Mo jumped off the bed and opened the door.

Dressed in light green medicine master clothes, Yingmeng cutely stood in front of him.

“Yingmeng, you really can come and go as you please in Mount Hua.” Chen Mo teased.

Yingmeng really was not one of Western Moon Mount Hua’s disciples, but she was able to move about Mount Hua’s palace like no one else. This situation was a bit interesting.

“Let alone Mount Hua, This Palace is able to go freely to even Mount Tai or the Central Star Fields’ ‘Purple Rose Palace.'” Yingmeng proudly said.

“Yingmeng, looks like your Star Name isn’t so average?” Chen Mo was a bit curious.

“Very average. This Lady couldn’t even handle a mountain boar.” Yingmeng stuck out her tongue.

This girl still bore a grudge over what happened this morning.

Chen Mo invited her into the room. YIngmeng looked around a bit with a very bored expression on her face. She hopped onto a prayer mat, “Right, I heard that your friend, Milu, is discussing the Dao with the Ancestor?”

Chen Mo already knew that Milu had been taken by Xiyi into a restricted area of Mount Hua, Zhang Chao Valley, purportedly to cleanse her murderous personality. Li Guang’s secondary killer personality was honestly too heavy, beginning a massacre the moment she appeared. Up until corpses lay strewn everywhere, no one was safe.

A Star General like this with too severe a killer mindset perhaps could only be compared to “God Of Killing” Bai Qi, but God Of Killing Bai Qi had her own morals and preferences; back in the desert, it was fine to let Li Guang kill the bandits. If she killed in a Star Field under their control, the Central Star Field would not let her go for sure. She would inevitably be sent to the “Falling Star Terrace,” and her Star Name would be destroyed.

This was for Milu’s sake. The more contact she had with cultivators and Star Generals, sooner or later, Milu’s second personality would no longer be able to be repressed.

“Relax, Ancestor Chen Tuan is the famous Sleeping Immortal, currently the first or second best Star General in Daoism, free of the mundane. Cleansing your friend’s killer urges is very simple.” Yingmeng consoled him.

Chen Mo evilly sized up Yingmeng’s petite physique: “You didn’t find me so late at night just to comfort me, did you?”

Yingmeng glared at him, covering her budding chest completely: “You can’t scare This Lady. If you had lewd intents, you couldn’t fool Ancestor Chen Tuan.”

“How is she, is Li Xiao alright?” Chen Mo put away his frivolity: “I seemed to have acted a bit harshly this morning.”

“Don’t be complacent. Xiaoxiao was injured by Yang Guang’s subordinate, Yu Juluo, and hasn’t yet recovered. Then, she forcefully activated her Earth Rank and caused great damage to her vitality. If she recovers, you may not necessarily be able to occupy an advantage.” Yingmeng amicably said.

Chen Mo nodded. He also understood his Star Energy was still too weak.

“Forget it. I came to find you this time to give you medicine.” Yingmeng fished out a porcelain jar.

It wafted a medicinal scent, thick and abundant.

“This is a medicine that This Lady refined by using the Cherished Spirit Drop. I’m giving you a bit. You’re also injured. After you drink it, it will double your gains in cultivation.”

“Yingmeng, many thanks.” Chen Mo’s heart warmed up.

“Right, where is that Nine Tailed Fox of yours?” Yingmeng looked around and could not find the Nine Tailed Fox.

“It’s together with Milu.”

“Oh.” Yingmeng was very regretful, for she wanted to take the Nine Tailed Fox around to play for a few days.

“This Lady won’t bother you anymore. In the future…things will feel better here with you around, but I wonder how long you can stay.” Yingmeng mysteriously twitched her mouth. Without waiting for Chen Mo to raise a question, the girl already vanished like smoke into thin air.

Leaving behind only that jar of fragrant medicine.

Chen Mo drank a mouthful. His whole body quivered. He could not describe the sensation, but he felt this medicine enter his throat, his lungs, his stomach, heart, organs, limbs and meridians, instantly circulating throughout.

His internal injuries actually vanished completely.

“This Cherished Spirit Drop medicine is so incredible?” Chen Mo was flabbergasted. Even the best medicines were nothing special compared to this potency.

Chen Mo sat crosslegged, cultivating the “Five Dragons Hibernation Art” that Xiyi passed on to him.

The Five Dragons Hibernation Art was the next progression of the Nose Locking Art. It continuously circulated restrained breath through the heavens. The breath inside his body was like five True Spirits taking in the quintessence of the sun and moon, condensing them into Star Energy in a way that could eb described as magical. Even while sleeping, it could help a warrior cultivate. Furthermore, the Five Dragons Hibernation Art was able to reach the efficacy of abstinence from eating, to absorb nutrients from dew; it was incomparably miraculous.

Chen Mo very quickly sensed the Star Energy in his body was becoming more and more profound. After cultivating the Five Dragons Hibernation Art for a while, Chen Mo suddenly felt his mind turn dizzy. Shit, the side effect of the Five Dragons Hibernation Art was that it was very easy to fall asleep during meticulous cultivation. This way, the Five Dragons’ absorption would return to a natural state.

Fuck.

Chen Mo entered dreamland when he realized this point.

Early morning.

Chen Mo opened his eyes and heard the calls of red-crowned cranes.

When he woke up, Chen Mo did not feel any exhaustion at all, and his spiritual power was absolutely brimming.

“This Five Dragons Hibernation Art really is incredible.” Chen Mo said to himself.

Outside the room, the cranes trumpeted. Chen Mo got off the bed and walked out of the palace hall. He opened the doors and saw the courtyard outside the room had three or four White Jade Red-crowned Cranes in the middle of eating. A black-clothed woman was feeding them.

“You’re awake? You must have had a very comfortable sleep.” The black-clothed woman sprinkled a handful of golden yellow rice. As if she was sprinkling shining sunlight itself, the red-crowned cranes fought each other.

“Senior Sister.” Chen Mo cupped his fist.

“Don’t call me Senior Sister. Our Mount Hua Daoism makes no distinction in seniority at all. What we focus on is quiet and non-action. There is no need to be meticulous about things. It’s very invigorating, right.” The black-clothed woman chuckled.

Chen Mo was a bit unaccustomed to her outspoken style.

The black-clothed woman dusted off her hands, “Your Servant is Lu Xiujing.1 Elder Monk’s orders are to acquaint you with the rest of Mount Hua.”

Lu Xiujing?

“Is this Senior Sister Lu’s Star Name?” Chen Mo asked.

“Yes, don’t believe me?” Lu Xiujing blinked. She flourished her hand, bringing out her Star Weapon, “Highest Clarity Open Mind Seal.”2

“Never mind.” Chen Mo shook his head. Lu Xiujing seemed to be the sect master of the Highest Clarity branch. To unexpectedly be cultivating at Mount Hua, this kind of Star Name should be very formidable. However, Chen Mo sensed that Lu Xiujing’s Realm was not high at all. She seemed yet to reach Heavenly Star.

Come to think of it, Star World inherently could not completely correspond to the history he knew, so Chen Mo did not ponder upon this any further.

“Follow me.” Lu Xiujing clapped her hands. The four red-crowned cranes suddenly flapped their wings and took flight. A spirit-light extended from the cranes’ wings, supporting Lu Xiujing. The girl sat on the spirit-light following the red-crowned cranes on their flight.

Chen Mo stepped onto a sword. Sword-light lifted up and flew out of the North Star Hall’s courtyard.

Mount Hua’s Heavenly Law Palace was enormous, but in truth, the Four Great Peaks all had fairylands.

“You should have already me Li Su. Her True Name is Li Xiao, Earthly Zhi ‘Duke Wu Of Liang.’3 She lives at Martial Origin Hall, and she is our Mount Hua’s first guardian.” Lu Xiujing twitched her mouth: “But her power is average…She was saved by Yingmeng in the past, and their relationship is very close. Don’t get too close to Yingmeng, or she’ll get jealous.”

Chen Mo already sensed this point yesterday.

While her body was injured, she did not use her Yellow Rank or Dark Rank and instead forced an Earth Rank. This was more than reckless.

The two of them arrived at a white immortal’s abode in the white mountain. In the palace was a fairyland, and in the fairyland was spiritual power.

“Great Poet Jiang,4 your Junior Brother has arrived.” Lu Xiujing hollered.

A young woman dressed in a beautiful flower robe delicately walked out. The woman’s countenance was gorgeous, thoroughly elegant.

“Oh, this junior brother has already received the Ancestor’s acknowledgement?” The woman’s hand played with a lock of black hair that was in front of her chest as she warmly sized Chen Mo up.

Chen Mo politely said: “Your Servant is Chen Mo, I joined the sect yesterday. Greetings to Senior Sister Jiang.”

“I see that. You can call me Yuezhuo.”5 The woman nodded.

“Yuezhuo?”

“The Yuezhuo is one of the legendary Five Phoenixes, the Divine Bird Yuezhuo.” Jiang Yuezhuo explained.

This name was a bit rare.

Lu Xiujing made introductions: “Jiang Yuezhuo’s Star Name is ‘Clear Empty Shadow’ Jiang Kui.6 She is a great poet and a musicologist. Junior Brother Chen Mo, if you have any interest in poetry or literature, you can look for her.”

“I am only slightly skilled.” “Clear Empty Shadow” Jiang Kui modestly bowed.

“Yuezhuo, how is progress on your Sequel to the Treatise on Calligraphy?” Lu Xiujing asked. “Still at a bottleneck?”

“Thank you for your concern, Xiujing.” Jiang Yuezhuo was not too keen to elaborate.

“Can you make it in time for the Literary Excellence Convention. This is but a very important meeting, but I’m also worried about you.” Lu Xiujing giggled.

“Yuezhuo has her own stance.”

“Very well then.”

“If Your Servant can help, Senior Sister can call any time.”

“Call you?”

“Don’t underestimate Junior Brother Chen Mo. I heard he helped Law Protector Shanxue out of a defeat scenario against the Ancestor. He played evenly against the Ancestor; he is exceptional at chess.” Lu Xiujing said.

“Yuezhuo understands.” Jiang Yuezhuo was pensive.

After leaving the White Stone Fairyland, Lu Xiujing said: “Hm, I think I introduced you to everyone.”

“Senior Sister Xiujing, aren’t there two more Senior Sisters?” Chen Mo remembered that Mount Hua had five disciples altogether.

“There’s no need at all to introduce you to the last two.” Lu Xiujing pursed her lips.

“Why?”

“I’ve never met one of the Great Senior Sisters, and the other Junior Sister…She’s been in gestation for several decades with nothing to show for it. Let’s go see her. Perhaps this will deal a blow to her self-confidence.”

Chen Mo wiped his sweat.

Western Moon Mount Hua was a bit too weird.
