Early morning, Qilin Martial Emperor Liu Hongyu convened a magnificent “Qilin Banquet” to entertain all the Qilin Cubs participating in the Yuanshou. Chen Mo also finally had the fortune to situate himself in one of Star World’s legendary Nine Palaces – the Weiyang Palace.
Much more stunning up close than far away, the massive Weiyang Palace was wholly made of colored glass and precious stones, immersed in holy radiance. The rows of pavilions and buildings were picturesque, emanating a spiritual power, as if every brick and tile was a resplendent gem.
“I heard the Weiyang Palace was constructed in imitation of the Central Star Field’s Longevity Palace. They say that the Longevity Palace even has Longevity Immortal Qi that can be cultivated for eternal youth and life.” Yan Yu let out an astonished sigh.
Whether they were cultivators or Star Generals, both had longevity, the so-called “unlimited Realm, but limited life.” Even the best Star Generals had nothing more than the lifetime of a Star Era. Eternal youth cultivation techniques and abilities were legends in Star World.
Passing through nine gates, everyone entered an enormous courtyard. In the courtyard was an immense lake that was deep like an abyss. A crystal bridge was constructed in front of a palace hall.
Guarding the hall was a Spirit Beast. Blue and green scales grew all over its body, which looked like a dragon and a horse. Its tail was like a whip, and its hooves tread upon green light. As a whole, it had a gigantic build.
This beast was known as a “lake qilin.” It was classified as a descendant of qilin, able to walk on wind and move through water, stirring perilous waves. Its strength was equivalent to Lord Of Heaven. Even among the Ten Great Sects, this kind of Divine Beast was revered, but in the Qilin Star Kingdom, it was nothing more than one of Liu Hongyu’s guard dogs.
Every cultivator gasped in astonishment, their expressions stirring.
The lake qilin stared at everyone. The Spirit Beast’s pupils were as bright as jadeite, suffused with green light, manifesting its dignity. Chen Mo immediately sensed spiritual pressure launch towards them.
This little beast that was being treated as a guard dog still wanted to intimidate even now.
Chen Mo inwardly grinned, activating the Deva Eyes to stare back at the lake qilin.
The lake qilin growled, jolting the palace. The lakewater roared upwards with its voice, becoming two enormous water dragons. Chen Mo was not afraid of it. Instead, he stared even more intently, wishing to know just how powerful this Spirit Beast’s qilin bloodline was.
Zhao Chongguo was at the front of the procession. Seeing this change, she wrinkled her brow. The Spirit Beast she rode also shifted in unease. This was the first time that the Chamberlain Of Military Farms had seen the lake qilin behave so unusually. Just as she was about to take action, at this moment, a resounding shout came from the sky.
“Beast, how can an animal like you disturb the Martial Emperor’s banquet.”
An enchanting black sword-light slashed open space, landing in front of the lake qilin, firm as a pike. The lake qilin felt startled, and it immediately withdrew its voice and fearfully fell prostrate.
A mere flick of the sword made a Spirit Beast that even Lords Of Heaven feared tremble.
In the Qilin Star Kingdom, there was only one person who would dare draw their sword in the banquet hall.
“Huo Guang, you have frightened the lake qilin.” Zhao Chongguo turned her head back.
A woman riding a black divine steed descended from the heavens. Her countenance was rather charming as she raised a gorgeous long sword.
She was Heavenly Tip Star “Nameless Sword” Huo Guang!
Huo Guang snorted: “Whoever dares profane the Martial Emperor’s banquet, Guang shall immediately kill them.”
“The lake qilin merely wanted to show its strength to these cultivators, nothing more. This is not the first time.” Zhao Chongguo disagreed.
“Hm. However, this is the first time that I have seen the lake qilin nearly raise waves of fury. What a pity, what a pity.” Another snickering voice came over. Chen Mo looked to see a luxurious carriage approach from far away. Its decorations, paint, canopy, bronze components and more befit the status of a ruler.
At first glance, he even thought that the Qilin Martial Emperor had frightened the other cultivators into silence.
However, Huo Guang and Zhao Chongguo were unmoved upon seeing this carriage. Rather, disdain appeared in their eyes.
“Minister Weiyang, can it be that you want to see the lake qilin ruin the Martial Emperor’s banquet?” Zhao Chongguo smiled.
The woman sitting in the carriage seemed to weak to stand up to the wind, appearing innocent and vulnerable, making one feel pity. Upon hearing Zhao Chongguo’s words, the cultivators who pitied the woman immediately felt chills.
The woman in front of them was not one able to stir others into protecting her.
She was Heavenly Avoidance Star “Qilin Minister” Zhang Anshi.1 Among the Qilin Pavilion’s Eleven Officials, Zhang Anshi was ranked number two, but she had obtained more gifts from the Qilin Martial Emperor compared to Huo Guang. She was the Qilin Martial Emperor’s most trusted person. This imperial “Valiant Horse Carriage” was precisely one of the gifts that Liu Hongyu had conferred.
However, from the persepctive of Huo Guang and the rest, this Zhang Anshi merely relied on her weak appearance to evoke the Martial Emperor’s desire to protect in order to receive favor.
Huo Guang was unwilling to even speak to such a person. She raised her hand and stored her sword back into nothingness.
“Hee, I was only curious. There is actually a Qilin Cub able to draw the lake qilin’s fury. Seems very interesting.” Zhang Anshi cutely said.
Her words made Huo Guang and Zhao Chongguo stop briefly. Evidently, they had also sensed this phenomenon.
“A Qilin Cub, that is normal.” Zhao Chongguo laughed, not wanting to let the others realize that a fierce general like Ma Yuan was among her Qilin Cubs.
“Aiya, My Qilin Cubs are but very weak.” Zhang Anshi looked at the Qilin Cubs she brought with a hurt expression, most of whom were doddering. “They definitely are unable to satisfy the Martial Emperor.”
“It would be better if we trade a few Qilin Cubs, Elder Sisters. I will trade you a Lord Of Heaven for your Earthly Immortal.” Zhang Anshi gazed at Chen Mo.2
Chen Mo closed his eyes, maintaining composure.
“If the head of the Qilin Pavilion agrees, Your Servant has no opinion.” Zhao Chongguo smiled.
“Sister Jia,3 do you agree?” The woman initiated an offensive of weakness.
All of a sudden, black wind gusted, and powerful killing intent burst through the air. Huo Guang’s expression was furious. Her hand slashed, and black sword-light sliced directly towards Zhang Anshi. The sword-light’s coldness was seemed about to split the woman in two.
All of Chen Mo’s pores and acupunture points closed when he sensed this sword-qi’s power.
The Qilin Minister’s grin vanished. Her Valiant Horse Carriage glowed brilliantly and stopped this attack. “Huo Guang, what are you doing!”
“Who gave you this audacity, to dare address me by my True Name.” Huo Jia’s eyes were like swords, filled with a biting cold murderous desire. She gave Zhang Anshi no face at all, once again attacking with her sword.
Sword-light dispersed, changing into a bewitching gloom.
Zhang Anshi activated her own Destined Star Weapon, “Great Peace Treasure Mirror.”4 The mirror emitted blind divine light, wrapping up the sword-qi, but Huo Guang was very intense, shaking Zhang Anshi to the point of disaster.
Zhao Chongguo was content to watch the world burn, smirking as she spectated their fight.
Dark Rank: Kill Repression!5
Zhang Anshi used her Dark Rank. The Great Peace Treasure Mirror’s divine light glowed, producing multi-colored radiance, barely warding off Huo Guang’s ordinary strike. The woman was somewhat haggard as she resentfully glared at Huo Guang.
“Sister Guang, you must calm yourself. This is the Martial Emperor’s banquet.”
“Do not get angry.”
The other officers of the Qilin Pavilion rushed over in succession. Seeing the pair were actually causing a disturbance in the Rippling Water Hall, they promptly stopped the two.
“Next time, Guang will break your arm!” Huo Guang turned and stormed coldly into the hall.
“Ptooey,6 when all of Star World knows the Martial Emperor’s True Name, what do you even amount to, Huo Guang.” Zhang Anshi grit her teeth. Different from her feeble appearance a moment prior, hatred was in her eyes.
“Forget about it. You mentioned Huo Guang’s True Name in front of other cultivators, after all. You are well aware of her personality.” Zhao Chongguo offered a few words of insincere friendship and consolation.
Zhang Anshi coldly glared at her. She was fully aware that her provocation just now had completely backfired.
“I was careless. Hmph, however, I will definitely speak with the Martial Emperor about Huo Guang’s pettiness.” Zhang Anshi harrumphed.
“Your Servant honestly envies that you can sway the Martial Emperor through pillow talk anytime you wish.” Zhao Chongguo smiled.
Having gone through this disturbance, Zhang Anshi was in no mood to continue pursuing the Qilin Cub matter. She disembarked her carriage and walked into the hall.
Chen Mo twitched his mouth as he watched everything. This was the first time he had ever seen a Star General fight so violently just by having a compatriot utter a True Name. This Nameless Sword’s reputation was frightening indeed.
