The fragrant Snake Orchids from the Northern Primordial emitted a faint aroma.
This flower was able to calm the mind, and it was a valuable material for mental cultivation. The table inside the room was green and red, fashioned from Mount Dongye’s famous Ruo wood; this wood was able to soothe a person’s internal organs. Langya Jade was spread out over the flood, each piece absolutely flawless and magnificent.
A painting hung on the wall.
It depicted the landscape of a yellow dragon, the brushstrokes and ink application of which were supreme. Clearly, this was the work of a master.
The moment Qi Lin stepped into the study that the Yellow Emperor invited him into, the decorates that he saw broadened his horizons.
Everything in the room was respectable to the extreme.
After Xuanyuanshi was invested as the Yellow Emperor, her place of residence had become much more impressive.
Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan sat in a chair, sipping a cup of tea that bore the fragrance of medicine. Her complexion was a bit wan and sallow, not at all great. Her battle with Gonggong was shocking, and it allowed everyone to witness Xuanyuanshi’s might. At the same time, it also made everyone take note of the Divine Name Primordial Chaos Water God Gonggong.
A young girl sat in a chair in another corner of the room. However, her posture was not proper at all. She sat cross-legged in the chair, clearly not at all respectful in front of the Yellow Emperor, but Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan did not take offense at all, chatting and smiling with her completely unconcerned.
The young lady was none other than Pure Yang True Immortal Lü Dongbin. Ever since she learned that Xuanyuan would become the Yellow Emperor, Lü Dongbin specially ran over to the Hong Tribe. Given her status as Grand Supreme Laozi’s disciple, Xuanyuanshi did not dare neglect her.
Lü Dongbin had studied under Laozi’s strict instruction for a very long time, and she was particularly interested in the late Primal Chaos Heavenly Court. The Yellow Emperor had herself experienced those times and knew many things. She spoke of Donghuang Taiyi, the Sun And Moon Twin Consorts, the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors, as well as the Twelve Demon Marquis. Lü Qingxuan was kept at the edge of her seat, immensely satisfied.
Lü Qingxuan waved her hand and greeted them, beaming: “Young Lord Qi Lin, your vitality after waking up has become even more vigorous. Presumably you had a wonderful spring dream.” The girl drew out the last few words with a specially teasing tone, her implication clear.
“Seems you also dreamed of me, Qingxuan?” Qi Lin was aware of Lü Qingxuan’s personality and faced her obscene language with magnanimity.
Lü Qingxuan laughed. She was fond of men who had no reservations.
“Cough, cough.”
Nüba fake coughed and frowned at this couple that was openly flirting in front of her mother. The status and position of everyone present was higher than her won, so Nüba could not easily speak up in rebuke.
Qi Lin bowed towards Xuanyuanshi and said: “Your Servant has heard that Sister Xuanyuan recently defeated the evil deity that was the source of these floods, which has rallied the people of the Northern Primordial to your banner. If there is anything Elder Sister requires, please do not hesitate to ask. We will do all that we can.”
Xuanyuanshi nodded, an amicable grin fleeting across the corner of her mouth. “We accept Your Distinguished Self’s kindness.”
“Mother has sought out King Yu and Young Lord Qi Lin to discuss a certain matter.”
Nüba commanded the others to withdraw and sealed the doors to the room.
“What would that be?”
“Chiyou has seized the eight cauldrons. Young Lord Qi Lin should be aware of this.”
Qi Lin nodded. It had been snatched right out of his hands. To not be aware would have been strange. “Eight cauldrons? Don’t tell me that Little Sister Nüba’s Divine Cauldron was also taken by Chiyou?”
“Indeed.” Nüba was helpless.
“Oh.”
“It appears that Young Lord Qi Lin is not worried at all?” Nüba’s tone implied something.
“Worrying is useless. The eight cauldrons are in Chiyou’s hands. Sister Xuanyuan and Gonggong are injured from battle, and both the tribes competing over Zhuolu have ceased combat. I’m afraid I couldn’t steal it back even if you asked me to.” Qi Lin spoke forthrightly.
“But my spies have obtained information from the Li that Chiyou has made the Li Army stand down, and not because mother is injured.”
“Is it because of the Divine Cauldron?”
Nü answered: “Yes, King Yu. Is Young Lord aware that there is a ninth cauldron outside of the eight?”
“A ninth?” Qi Lin feigned ignorance. “But there were only eight in the divine palace. I didn’t see any others, and Little Sister Nüba was there, too.”
“Then Young Lord Qi Lin is unaware?”
“Little Sister Nüba, just what is the matter, do tell.” Qi Lin drank a cup of tea.
“This is the situation. According to the information our spies brought back, Chiyou already used her own talents to understand the secret of the Divine Cauldrons. The Eight Directions Cauldrons are not completely forged at all; they are still missing the core magic treasure that controls the eight. Chiyou is preparing to use her own body to forge the ninth Divine Cauldron.”
“What?”
Qi Lin and Yu The Great were both shocked.
“Chiyou is preparing to use her own body to complete the forging of the Earlier Heaven magic treasure?” Qi Lin thought he had misheard. This idea was honestly too shocking; he could not even conceive of it.
“Yes.”
Nüba answered matter-of-factly.
The Yellow Emperor calmly said: “Throughout Our life, Chiyou is a Divine Name that is rarely seen. This Divine Name is very mysterious, capable of Dragon-slaughtering Arts and cultivating eighty-one doppelgangers. These doppelgangers are possessed of boundless power, inheriting Chiyou’s own Realm with hardly any degradation. She is unfathomable. And the Divine Weapons that Chiyou forges and develops, the ‘Chi Armor Guard’ that she forged from Crimson Dragon Bones have proven an enormous headache for Us.”
“Given Chiyou’s skills, if she uses her own body as the medium to complete the ninth cauldron, it is extremely likely she can succeed.”
Qi Lin and King Yu glanced at each other.
If Chiyou truly achieved this, then she simply would be able to change entire Northern Primordial’s status quo.
To use her own body to forge the ninth cauldron and complete the Earlier Heaven Fortune magic treasure. The fortune of the Northern Primordial would be forever intertwined with Chiyou. If she died, the Northern Primordial would die. So long as she lived, the Northern Primordial would exist. Countless tribes would need to capitulate to her, to follow her blindly.
Even Xuanyuanshi, who had just been coronated the Yellow Emperor, could only then bow her head.
An Earlier Heaven Fortune magic treasure could but found a sect.
No wonder the Yellow Emperor would invite Yu The Great and Qi Lin; this matter was honestly too shocking. As it happened, Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan had sustained injuries in her battle against Gonggong and was unable to intervene against Chiyou. “Has Elder Sister informed the other tribes about this matter?” Yu The Great asked.
“The fewer who know about this, the better.” Nüba answered.
If it became known that Chiyou was to complete the forging of Emperor Yao’s Divine Cauldrons, this would shake the morale of the other tribes, and perhaps there would be a considerable portion that would choose to align with Chiyou.
“Then Sister Xuanyuan has sought us out to join forces in attacking Chiyou?” Qi Lin asked.
“Among other reasons.”
Nüba, on behalf of her mother, explained the objective of her invitation: “Chiyou wants to forge the Divine Cauldron, and her doppelgangers will need to protect her. This is the moment she is at her weakest. We cannot allow Chiyou to successfully cast the Divine Cauldrons. Her Dragon-slaughtering Arts are the bane of the Immemorial Royal Family and Shaman Clan Divine Names, so we wish to join forces with the Ji Tribe and launch an offensive.”
“Secondly, we would like to consult with Young Lord Qi Lin whether or not there is an even more reliable way to stop Chiyou from forging the cauldron?”
The Yellow Emperor and Nüba cast their gazes at Qi Lin, their eyes filled with anticipation.
“Why ask me?” Qi Lin smiled: “I’m merely an ordinary Divine Emissary, not the all-knowing Bai Ze.”
“That we were even able to obtain Emperor Yao’s Divine Cauldrons was all thanks to your contributions, QI Lin. You have the greatest understanding of the Divien Cauldrons, and there are many things we are not aware of that you amy know.” Pausing, Nüba smiled: “This Palace remembers that Young Lord suddenly leapt into the Primal Chaos Sea. At the time, This Palace was not sure why Young Lord would do so, but could it be related to the ninth cauldron?”
Nüba’s thinking was meticulous, as expected. She had already vaguely guessed the reason why Qi Lin’s behavior was unusual.
But Qi Lin was not at all prepared to share the secret of the gem. There could be no other mishaps with this “ninth cauldron.” Other than Yu THe Great, he did not believe in anyone else right now.
“Oh, so it was this. Does Little SIster still remember that box in the hand of Emepror Yao’s statue?” Qi Lin asked.
“En.” Nüba had a bit of an impression.
“In truth, that is the Heavnely Evolving Corridor magic treasure. I jumped down to retrieve it, not wanting to let such a good treasure to fall into Primal Chaos.” QI Lin faintly grinned. He opened his palm, producing a square box.
Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan was stunned.
This squre box was very familiar; the late Emperor Yao had once shown it to her.
“The Heavnely Evolving Corridor.”
“Just this?” Nüba’s gaze was a bit envious as well as a bit disappointed.
“Did Little Sister Nüba believe there could be something else? You and I were both there, could there be something that escaped Little Sister’s eyes?” Qi Lin asked back.
Nüba was unable to refute him.
“Meaning there is already no other ways to stop her? Can it be that Yao did not leave behind a method to forge the ninth Divine Cauldron?” The Yellow Emperor asked: “Since the Divine Cauldrons are not complete yet, Yao should have left some information.”
“Even if there actually were, Gongyang Tu and Her Highness Nüba broke the array eye back then and seized the Eight Cauldrons. That secret has been consumed by the Primal Chaos.” Qi Lin was helpless.
Nüba spread her hands, Are you blaming me?
“However, I will research and see if there may be some method that can stop Chiyou from forging the Ninth Cauldron.” Qi Lin changed the topic.
“We can only trouble Your Distinguished Self Qi Lin.” The Yellow Emperor said.
“Little Sister Wenming, then what about facing Chiyou together?”
“Yu has recently been relocating the tribe to Zhuolu. Yu fears that it will be very difficult to help Elder Sister with an attack, but Yu will have General Xian Zhen lead a detachment of warriors to assist.” Yu The Great thought for a moment.
Yellow Emepror Xuanyuan grunted.
Both sides then conversed cordially, negotiating the particulars. Zhuolu was currently masterless, and several thousand tribes were seeking refuge at Zhuolu, producing enormous chaos. The Yellow Emperor also specially exhorted them to be careful.
After sending Qi Lin off, Nüba returned to the room, where she glanced at Lü Dongbin, who was still sitting crosslegged, eating a large pastry without a care in the world, showing no intention of leaving.
The Yellow Emperor nodded.
Nüba then said: “Does Mother feel Qi Lin’s words are believable?”
“Only about half.”
“Daughter sees he is not the slightest bit worried that Chiyou will forge the magic treasure. Perhaps he some trick that can keep her in check? He must have jumped in the Primal Chaos Sea for something that only he knows and Daughter does not.” Nüba pondered.
“If he is unwilling to speak, you cannot force it out of him.” The Yellow Emperor was actually very calm. “Nüba, dispatch people to go monitor Yu’s tribe, particualrly this Qi Lin. We have a feeling that he will do something to ruin Chiyou’s plan, and that is why he is so confident.”
“As you command.”
The Yellow Emperor was a bit weary and had her withdraw.
Only two people were left in the room.
“Lü Dongbin, now that you have learned that Chiyou is forging an Earlier Heaven Fortune magic treausre, as Laozi’s disciple, should not do something?” The Yellow Emperor asked.
“Qingxuan has no way to help.” Lü Dongbin showed she was without options. Her own injuries wer enot mended, and even if they were, how could she be a match for Chiyou, who even the Yellow Emepror was no match for and feared.
“Will you not ask for your master’s thoughts?”
“No way.” Lü Qingxuan shrugged: “Master is very whimsical. When Goddess Nüwas invites Master, she will go only if she is in the mood. Besides, Your Majesty may not be aware.”
“Hm?”
“No matter what happens in the Northern Primrodial, the Central Plains Divine Kingdom will not intervene.”
“Only because the Northern Primordial is the grounds of the Immemorial Royal Family?”
“Yes and no.”
Lü Dongbin’s words contained a hidden meaning. The Yellow Emperor took up her teacup, pensive.
