Wang Jian sauntered over, her hand gripping her sword hilt, her expression flat.
“I never imagined this tiny, little place would actually even have the mausoleum of the Marquis of Ten Thousand Beasts. This really is unimaginable. While the Register Of Deities is active, fortune is everywhere in the Great Primordial World.”
Her ice-cold voice made the tomb’s atmosphere become even more chilling.
“To be buried alongside the Marquis Of Ten Thousand Beasts, this is an honor for you two.” Wang Jian stared at Qi Lin. Her sword was ready at any moment to take the opponent’s head.
Qi Lin was very calm, not at all in a panic at her appearance. It was actually the Vermilion Bird Divine General’s understanding manner of the Marquis of Ten Thousand Beasts that stirred his curiosity. “It seems you know what the Marquis of Ten Thousand Beasts’ Divine Name is?”
“One hundred thousand years ago, the Great Primordial Eastern Province’s Primal Chaos Heavenly Court was also renowned throughout Primordial World and could rival with the Divine Kingdom, ‘Pan.’1 Who in Primordial World wouldn’t know a Divine Name like Donghuang Taiyi?”2 Wang Jian pursed her lips into a seeming smile.
Qi Lin knew a bit that the Donghuang Taiyi was a god referenced in the “Nine Songs,” and he was the highest deity that ancient China worshipped; the sun and moon rose in the east, brilliant and glorious. East was recognized as the head of the five directions in Primordial World, esteemed as the ultimate. To be able to establish an influential sect in the most prosperous Great Primordial Eastern Province was an unimaginable feat, let alone a nation vast enough to contend against the Divine Kingdom.
However, the barbarian tribes’ records were limited. Let alone the Great Primordial Eastern province, even the Great Primordial Western Province had very few records aside from barbarian culling. Qi Lin was not sure about the specifics, but he was certain that Donghuang Taiyi was of the Immemorial Royal Family.
The Immemorial Royal Family was also known as the “Divine Emperor Clan.” Practically every royal name was engraved deep into the minds of every person in Primordial World. They naturally possessed the qualifications to call themselves emperors. Back then, the Immemorial Royal Family established more than a hundred nations in the Primordial Four Provinces. Treating the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court as the peak, their power was vast then and now, an unimaginable level.
However, this enormous Heavenly Court fell apart in a single night, and the Immemorial Royal Family also vanished into oblivion. The current Shaman Clan was rumored to be descended from the Immemorial Royal Family.
If this tomb’s owner truly was a noble subordinate to the Immemorial Royal Family’s Donghuang Taiyi, this could explain the presence of this mausoleum. Even a Divine Name like Donghuang Taiyi would place great importance on the tomb and its fengshui. To construct an empty tomb was not strange.
“What Divine Name is that?” Qi Lin asked.
“Is her name very important? She has already died in this place.” Wang Jian sneered, walking over step by step.
“Very important because it clarify just what terrible creature is in this tomb.” Qi Lin stepped backwards.
“Terrible creature? What are you saying.” Wang Jian wrinkled her brow.
The woman’s presence was overbearing, and QI Lin could not help but gradually step backwards to avoid being sneak attacked. Having experienced her martial arts, he also knew that this Wang Jian was not average in her power. Her lethal swordsmanship left no room for leeway.
“This tomb was constructed in a place with highly inauspicious fengshui, this definitely is not simple.”
“You are capable of geomancy?” Wang Jian’s brows rose.
“A little bit. If you want to kill me, we’d better find the exit and leave this place first, otherwise if we disturb whatever creature is contained in this tomb, perhaps not even you will live.”
Wang Jian stared at Qi Lin, looking at his face to sort truth from lie.
“Why should I believe your words!!” The Vermilion Bird Divine General was thoroughly irritated with Qi Lin’s insistence. “Don’t think you can deceive me, Wang Jian, with these words, barbarian!!”
With this, red sword-light like soaring luan birds emerged. This sword-light cried out fiercely like a bird, and the sword-qi abruptly detonated like a concentrated bomb. Qi Lin was practically blinded. Hearing that sword-wind sound, the air in front of him suddenly exploded.
This “Luan Cry Break” was also of tremendous might, comparable to a Tier Three ability’s power.
This instant, Qi Lin felt an extreme sense of danger. If it was any other Qi Refinement cultivator, or even a Golden Core Bagua cultivator, they could lose their life to this attack. Fortunately, Qi Lin had an Invested Deity Contract and received the Divine Energy of the Great Sage Equal of Heaven. All of his pores shut as tight as stone. His hands pushed forward, and the Dual Modes Seal’s activity and stillness alternated, pushing frantically.
In this push, Qi Lin also swiftly moved. He attacked with Pixiu Brutality, combining it with his recently comprehended Black And White Mixed Origin Chant, exploding with a series of rumbling thunderclaps. An enormous pixiu phantom manifested, and he thrust both of his palms towards Wang Jian.
“What?” Shang Yangjun was stupefied. Qi Lin was surprisingly able to comprehend Pixiu Brutality so quickly.
Qi Lin used the Two Yins Two Yangs Dual Modes Seal to forcibly suppress her Luan Cry Break. Then, Pixiu Brutality was also used impeccably to not give the opponent a chance to think.
Any other martial arts genius on the level of Shang Yangjun would perhaps be caught off guard.
But Wang Jian was expressionless, calm as a pine tree. She was unmoved by the Pixiu Brutality, raising her sword to break this martial intent.
“Nine Fingers Of Hell – Spirit-scattering Finger, Devil-bewitching Finger, Monster-destroying Finger, Demon-ending Finger, Ox-head Finger, Ghost-crying Finger, Snake-biting Finger, God-howling Finger!!”
Whooosh!
Qi Lin used all his power, using eight of the Nine Fingers Of Hell, “spirit, devil, monster, demon, ox, ghost, snake, and god.” The Nine Fingers Of Hell was a Tier Two ability. Combined with the Black And White Mixed Origin Soul Technique, it became even more terrifying. The nine finger-shadows became nine strange shadows, resonating around the woman, shaking her body to wrap her in a black godly figure.
How did this guy come across such an unorthodox power.
“How laughable!” Wang Jian swung her sword forcefully. Her Divine Name was the “Ling Guang,” forged from the Ling Guang seven stars of the Vermilion Bird Star Mansion, gorgeous to the extreme. She could even destroy a Golden Core cultivator’s magic treasure with ease.
Qi Lin’s technique appeared quite refined, they appeared to be nothing more than a struggle on death’s door in Wang Jian’s eyes.
Sword-light ignited like a flame. Suddenly, the hall was illuminated, bright as a sheet of white paper.
The Nine Fingers Of Hell were instantly broken.
Qi Lin’s Divine Intent moved. The Huaxia Diagram formed in his mind, and he prepared to activate this Dark Heaven magic treasure. Bow and arrow vaguely manifested. Wang Jian’s sword swung, but just at this moment, there was a loud rumble.
Along with a clattering noise above them, the twelve chains seemed to undulate like waves.
The bronze coffin jolted fiercely, as if something was about to break out from inside the coffin.
A cloud of black qi seeped out from the coffin’s edges.
Wang Jian immediately sensed something was wrong, and fear surged in her heart.
“Yangjun, hurry and leave this place!!” Qi Lin shouted.
Shang Yangjun grit her teeth and ran out of the palace.
Black qi pervaded the coffin. The lid slowly opened, and an unprecedented inauspicious qi enveloped the hall. This inauspicious qi was so deep, even the “Depths of Nine Hell” in Primordial World was nothing special.
“What is this!!” Wang Jian sensed an enormous fear grip her body. The woman’s complexion was instantly frighteningly pale.
Qi Lin also felt his entire body freeze. This inauspicious qi carried an unprecedented intent of fear that intimidated their minds, and their bodies no longer seemed to be under their control.
“What’s the matter with you two?” Shang Yangjun was incomparably baffled to see Qi Lin and Wang Jian both stop moving.
Wang Jian and Qi Lin glanced at each other. The woman bit open the top of her tongue, and her forehead Star Crest manifested, shimmering with scarlet light.
Qi Lin also activated the Two Yins Two Yangs and struggled with all his might to break free of the restraints of fear, fleeing towards the door without hesitation.
As the coffin opened, more and more black qi slowly formed.
“Hurry and escape this tomb.”
The three of them spared no effort in activating escape techniques.
“Just what is the Divine Name of the Marquis Of Ten Thousand Beasts?” Qi Lin asked as they ran.
“It’s…” Before Wang Jian could reply, they heard a low, hateful voice echo from that tomb.
“Power, oh, This Taowu smells sweet power. You all can be buried here and become one with This Taowu.”
That voice let out a gloomy sigh.
There was a bang.
Black qi surged out from the palace doors, becoming a monstrous beast that was complete yet made of amorphous black qi. It was like a tiger, with long fur, a human face, tiger paws, sharp tusks, and a long tail…
Taowu!!
Qi Lin’s expression changed.
Fuck, one of China’s historical Four Perils…
This tomb actually contained such a peril!

….Why do they NEVER listen!?
I mean, generally, you wouldn’t let your enemy stall for time. But in this case, there’s a valid reason why Wang Jue doesn’t want to let Qi Lin escape…
…I get that. But maybe a really suspicious tomb is maybe not the best place for these kinda things. And, stalling for time or not… she really couldn’t read the room here even if her not listening was the ‘logical’ move, or whatever. I’d have just waited for them to exit and killed them as they left when their guard was at their lowest. That’s just me though.
A real damded if you do, damned if you don’t kinda scenario I g7ess
“Chen Mo was not sure about the specifics, but he was certain that Donghuang Taiyi was of the Immemorial Royal Family”
Sudden Chen Mo appearance? 😀
LOL, thanks for catching that. Sometimes, the subject of the sentence in the raws is implicit, but combine that with the reflex of typing “Chen Mo” as the protagonist’s name for a couple years, I was going to make the mistake eventually. Funny thing is, the author does the same thing, too. XD
