“Brother Gongyang speaks so boldly, but now is not the time to fight over worldly things.” Qi Lin answered, deadpan.

“The floods already cannot be stopped. A smart person knows that the best solution right now for the Northern Primordial Tribes is to seek refuge at Zhuolu, a holy place forbidden to everyone but the Royal Family. This already breaks the laws of the Northern Primordial, so why not become king and unify the Northern Primordial. Now is the time, how can you say it is not?” Gongyang Tu countered.

“Then I would like to ask the kings present. Do you wish to seek refuge or quell the floods and return to your homes to live?”

“Of course, we want to return home.”

“Although Zhuolu is a good place, this is a place for kings back during Emperor Yao’s time. If we linger here, we will suffer the consequences.

“Right, and if the Eternal River overflows, then the Northern Primordial will suffer a calamity. What us will staying in Zhuolu be then.”

“En, exactly.”

The other lords spoke. There were still somewhat apprehensive about staying in Zhuolu, and as the old adage went, whoever controlled Zhuolu was king. They were not like Xuanyuan or Chiyou, who would dare to vie for control over Zhuolu, so they naturally did not dare stay.

“Yu convened the lords for this conference in order to ask that everyone join forces to control the floods.” Yu The Great softly said.

Gongyang Tu stood behind Chiyou, holding his hands behind his back as he stared at Qi Lin.

“This King has no interest in controlling the floods. If remedying the situation is your wish, do so yourselves.” Chiyou was expressionless.

“Overflow of the Eternal River is already unavoidable. This King heard that your efforts in water conservancy have failed, Wenming. Damming and dredging were to no avail.” Xuanyuanshi was not in a rush to express her thoughts. She leisurely savored a fruit.

“Elder Brother, please inform them.” Yu The Great gestured.

Qi Lin stepped forward and looked around at all the leaders of the Northern Primordial without changing his expression. Baibai the peacock quietly preened its feathers as it perched on his shoulder, its posture graceful. At first glance, this scene seemed like that of a carefree young master.

“From what my investigation revealed, these floods were manufactured by Eight Demons of the Primordial Ancient Demonkin. They have established themselves in eight locations around the Northern Primordial and are working in concert to form a flood array. Once the array is completed, the Northern Primordial will fall into a calamity for the ages.” Qi Lin omitted that he met Bai Ze and gave a summary of the situation.

Everyone present was grim, contemplative.

Qi Lin’s news was too shocking. They had originally thought that the flood was a natural calamity; they could not have imagined it was actually the work of eight Ancient Demons working together to utilize a formation against the Northern Primordial.

“But what purpose does it serve the Ancient Demonkin to flood the Eight Desolates? What advantage do they gain?” The Divine Name who led the Shengshuichu Tribe, Li Yu, narrowed her eyes.

“We naturally do not know of the Ancient Demonkin’s thoughts, but I know that if we do not stop them, even Zhuolu cannot survive. When the nest is overturned, no egg remains intact.”

Xuanyuan was pensive.

“Hou Ji has already gone to eliminate the Manman. There are seven other Demons, and we must dispatch them within the next forty days, otherwise it will be too late. Yu has convened everyone for this conference of lords in order to solve the floods together.” Yu The Great sincerely pleaded: “Yu asks that Elder Sister Xuanyuan and Little Sister Chiyou set aside hostilities and work together to avert this crisis.”

Xuanyuan glanced at Chiyou. The latter was expressionless and silent.

Gongyang Tu pondered and said: “If the situation is truly as His Distinguished Self Qi Lin describes, that this flood is the devilry of the Ancient Eight Demons, then there must be a conspiracy. The flood has already lasted for ten years, and to let it continue any longer is not a solution either. But…” The man paused and glanced at Xuanyuanshi: “My lord is unable to leave Zhuolu.”

Xuanyuanshi insipidly said: “What, is Chiyou afraid that We will suddenly seize the opportunity to take over Zhuolu?”

“Ever since the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court was overthrown, the Northern Primordial has already been fractured for ten thousand years. Controlling the floods is necessary, but the master of Zhuolu must also use this to establish her divinity.” Gongyang Tu firmly vowed, unwilling to shrink back.

“Good.” Xuanyuanshi was impressed.

“With the floods as they are right now, are the two of you still unwilling to cease hostilities?” Yu The Great was a bit disappointed.

“Controlling the flood is also a meritorious feat. The citizens of the Eight Desolates will all sing praises for this through the ages. Can it be that King Xuanyuan and King Chiyao have not considered this?” Qi Lin smiled.

The two of them were silent for a long time.

“Elder Sister, it would be better to wait until after the floods to fight over Zhuolu.” Li Yu said. “Sister Yu is right, the floods are too severe. Further internecine strife honestly will damage the fortune of the Great Shaman Clan.”

“Very well. I am willing to pull my troops back a thousand li and wait for the floods to quell before mobilizing again.” Xuanyuanshi vowed.

“Yu is very grateful that Elder Sister Xuanyuan is willing to think of the Northern Primordial’s citizens. Yu can promise that if, during this time, someone offends Elder Sister, the Ji Tribe is willing to fight for Elder Sister.” Yu The Great also promised.

Gongyang Tu furrowed his brow. Yu The Great’s words were undoubtedly an ultimatum to Chiyou. The man whispered with Chiyou, and after a moment, he said: “Since this is the case, my lord shall also be considerate of the people. We are willing to retreat a thousand li and temporarily cease hostilities.”

“That is great. Then shall we discuss how to slay the Seven Demons.”

“It is said that the Ancient Demonkin has High Ancient Realm Divine Energy. That they are able to coordinate over ten years to flood the Eight Desolates means they are perhaps even more powerful. This will not end just by killing their leader. The plan is that we must kill all Seven Demons in time. If even one escapes, all of our efforts will be for naught. So we must be vigilant, we cannot allow any mistakes.” QI Lin sternly said.

“High Ancient Divine Realm, that is not easy to handle.” Some of the chiefs were already a bit apprehensive.

“So we must plan for simultaneous mobilization. At least two lords must join forces against one demon. This should be in time.”

“Unnecessary. The Great Demon Changyou in the north just so happens to be in Our Jiang River territory. We shall personally slay it.” Xuanyuanshi waved Qi Lin off.

“Leave the Great Demon Huashe in the north to This King.” Chiyou coldly said.

“This King and the chief of the Jiang River shall bring back the head of that Great Demon Lingling.” Li Yusaid.

Yu The Great also planned to slay the Heyu.

The other chiefs also proposed teams to subdue the Great Demons based on their respective locations, but the eight directions were too far apart, leaving one Demon without anyone to slay it.

“It seems no one will go eliminate the Fuzhu?” Xuanyuan smiled.

Everyone glanced at each other and showed conflicted expressions.

As it turned out, this Fuzhu was not an ordinary High Ancient Demonkin. There were past records of it in the Northern Primordial; it resided at Mount Ao’an, and it seemed sweet and pure, fond of playing tricks. In other words, it was a Divine Beast, one capable of controlling wind and rain. Back then, Emperor Yao’s ministers presented it to Emperor Yao as an amusement in the water.

Emperor Yao denounced this behavior. But the Fuzhu was honestly too beautiful, so she could not help but keep and raise it, using her own Divine Energy to suppress the Fuzhu’s powers.

If this Fuzhu was the same Divine Beast from Emperor Yao’s time, then this was troublesome. Perhaps, it would not be so simple as High Ancient Divine Realm, so the others wisely put their own safety first and were unwilling to undertake this mission.

“Allow my sister and I to eliminate the Fuzhu.” Qi Lin volunteered his services.

“You said so yourself. The slaughter of these Eight Demons is a matter of the utmost importance, that there must not be any mistakes. Do you feel yourself capable of killing the Fuzhu?”” Xuanyuan asked in an intrigued tone.

“But of course, I am the brother of Yu The Great.” The fact Yu The Great had a brother was bound to attract criticism, after all. Qi Lin knew that he needed to demonstrate his strength in order to persuade them.

“Your Distinguished Self truly is bold, but should you fail, you will be condemned by all for eternity.”

“Relax, since I suggested slaying the Eight Demons, I naturally will not hold back.”

“That would be for the best.” Xuanyuan nodded.

“Wenming, have you anything else?” She asked.

“None.”

“Then We shall retire first. We will wait for everything to be arranged and then mobilize to kill the Changyou.” Xuanyuanshi waved her sleeve, a weary appearance. Under the escort of her subordinates, she boarded a carriage and departed Mount Tu.

Chiyou also rose to her feet. She glanced coldly at Qi Lin, her eyes as terrifyingly empty as before.

Gongyang Tu bowed to Yu The Great and the other kings. Then, he followed Chiyou closely out of Mount Tu.

It was said that only the Northern Emperor could stay in Mount Tu at night. Otherwise, one would be cursed. Everyone successively descended the mountain before sunset while Yu The Great emphasized again and again with each and every one the importance of slaying the Eight Demons.

“King Yu, we must also quickly leave the mountain.” Xian Zhen said.

“En.”

When they descended Mount Tu, the moon was slowly rising over the treetops.

Mount Tu quietly towered in the night like a gentle young girl, but a wondrous scene appeared. When the moonlight shone upon the mountain, the forest’s lights became even brighter, as if a multicolored aurora was emitted from the mountain, dyeing Mount Tu in all sorts of color. This gentle young lady seemed to don a colorful dress and became even more beautiful and mysterious.

Qi Lin was also awestruck by this phenomenon.

“Big Brother, is there something in this?” Qi Qi, who had been silent this whole time, curiously asked.

Qi Lin was not sure either.

“Little Sister Wenming, do you know what that is?”

“Back then, Emperor Yao convened an assembly of the lords at Mount Tu, with dancing fairies for entertainment, the sun and moon for food. She used Divine Energy to turn Mount Tu into the assembly center for the chiefs of the Northern Primordial. It was said that her auspicious and virtuous Divine Intent yet remains on Mount Tu. Every time the moonlight shines upon it, Mount Tu becomes extremely magnificent. Long ago, there was a tribal chief who did not believe in the curse and intruded into Mount Tu. But after she descended the mountain, she suffered setbacks she could not recover from. Her Realm was enormously debilitated, and in the end, she was killed and replaced as chief by someone else from her tribe.

“Ever since then, no one has dared stay the night at Mount Tu. That the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou suddenly want to become queen of the Northern Primordial and fight over Zhuolu is perhaps because they want to use this as a pretext to stay the night at Mount Tu and see what mysteries it contains.” Xian Zhen surmised.

Qi Lin thought so as well. This was not strange. White Emperor Shaohao was capable of using secret arts to gain eternal life. Perhaps Emperor Yao also had some kind of secret art. The Immemorial Royal Family’s geomancy was very mysterious, and even now, the Central Plains Divine Court did not fully understand the Immemorial Royal Family’s mysteries.

As he watched the phenomenon of Mount Tu, this could not help but arouse the archaeologist in Qi Lin.

“Right. Your Distinguished Self will go slay the Fuzhu. This General shall dispatch a hundred of our finest troops to go with you.” Xian Zhen recalled this.

“No need.” Qi Lin looked at Qi Qi.

The girl nodded. The Great Sage Equal Of Heaven did not need help to slay a demon.

“Bringing too many people will waste too much time. Qi Qi and I will be enough.”

“But Brother, the Fuzhu has received the favor of Emperor Yao, after all. This Divine Beast’s background is not ordinary.” Yu The Great was quite worried.

“Our background as siblings isn’t ordinary either.” Qi Lin was still confident. He was even prepared to refine the Demon Core of the Fuzhu for the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded Banner. Pity that if was able to refine the cores of the seven other demons into the banners, it would be that much stronger.

“Right now, I am more worried about how the other tribes will slay the Seven Demons. If they are defeated or some other mishap happens, we are doomed.” If time was not short, Qi Lin would have wanted to go slay the Eight Demons on his own.

“Yu will issue notices to again urge caution.” There was nothing else King Yu could do.

“Whoever fails this time will be remembered as a sinner in the Northern Primordial for all time. This General believes they should not be careless.” Xian Zhen comforted her.

“But this flood is too fishy. I fear that there is some hidden conspiracy.” Qi Lin was not at ease.

King Yu and Xian Zhen glanced at each other.

“All human affairs are the will of Heaven.”

Qi Lin sighed.
