“This is for you.” Qi Lin brought out the Fairy Maiden Crystal Heart that the senior sister had left. Seeing that Shang Yangjun was a bit confused: “This is something that Senior Sister left for you to cultivate. It can help you reach Qi Refinement Ninth Deva over the next few days. This way, you can satisfy King Zhou’s condition.”

Shang Yangjun thanked him. The girl showed a bitter smile.  As the tribe’s proud daughter, she somehow owed him so much.

“Are you really fine?” Shang Yangjun asked.

“I’m alright.” Qi Lin smiled. The qi from the Tear of Blood inside his body did not have too much of an effect.

“Both of you, cultivate well to handle the banner drill in three days.” Guiguzi exhorted.

“As you command.”

Three days later, training field.

Each of the barbarian disciples were in high spirits, exchanging experience in martial arts. Shang Yangjun stepped onto the field and narrowed her eyes. She looked around at everyone, and these disciples that had come to Zhaoge for the first time were all full of blood-qi surging into the sky and boiling True Qi, like they were a massive army. Though, at this moment, the True Qi was even stronger than before while also lacking valor.1

These True Qi seemed rootless like duckweed, appearing vast, yet the internals were hollow.

Bam, bam, bam, bam!

A chain of fierce noises in the air. Fragments of the ground were kicked up, spraying in all directions.

Shang Yangjun walked over and saw two people in a spar. One was Shang Meng, the other was the Shang Tiger Tribe’s banner guardian, a young man by the name of Shang Xiao.

Shang Meng and Shang Xiao were fighting with palm techniques and boxing. Both of them had tall and sturdy builds and wide-ranging moves. They were aggressive, trading consecutive blows, all of their True Qi surprisingly spreading like blades in all directions. No one was able to get close as the heavy True Qi pulverized the ground.

Such a ferocious spar made the disciples present feel goosebumps on their skin.

“Hm?”

Their True Qi was robust, having actually reached Qi Refinement Ninth Deva.

These Tears of Blood were so formidable, to unexpectedly be able to increase Realm so quickly. If not for her luck in having it dispelled by Qi Lin, perhaps she would have succumbed to the enticement of this Qi Refinement Ninth Deva.

Shang Meng and Shang Xiao fought like an out of control wildfire. They both saw red and were incomparably zealous.

“What is happening here?” Shang Yangjun asked.

“Shang Meng has challenged the Shang Tiger Tribe’s Shang Xiao. He wants to become the Tiger Tribe’s banner guardian instead.” Shang Shiwu walked over.

“What do you mean?”

“Lord Elai has already decreed that so long as one is able to defeat a banner guardian, they can assume their position instead.” Shang Shiwu dusted off his hands. His palms still had traces of blood.

“Mutual slaughter?”

“This is winner takes all. Only the strongest cultivators can serve the Great King.” Shang Shiwu disagreed with her assessment.

Shang Yangjun looked at Shang Shiwu and noticed this man’s blood-qi was intense. His True Qi had also reached Qi Refinement Ninth Deva. “Shiwu, did you also refine the Tear of Blood.”

“I broke through to Ninth Deva on the last day. For the time being, I didn’t need to refine the Tear of Blood.” Shang SHiwu proudly said: “However, this Tear of Blood’s qi inside my body is truly strange. Many times I wanted to refine it. Little Sister Yangjun, you preumably have also reached Ninth Deva, I wonder if you refined it?”

Seeing that he did not refine the Tear of Blood, Shang Yangjun was relieved. In any case, they were all disciples of the Twelve Tribes, one less user was one less user.

Shang Yangjun touched the necklace at her collar. She recalled again that calm meeting under the moonlight.

“Hm?”

At this time, Shang Meng and Shang Xiao’s battle had already reached a climax. Unlike other spars, their punching techniques were filled with life and death pressure, as if the Tears of Blood had liberated their most feral aspects.

Whether it was SHang Meng or Shang Xiao, both were considered outstanding charactyers among the tribes’ youth, especially the Shang Tiger Tribe’s Shang Xiao, who ranked third after Shang Shiwu and Shang Yangjun. His “Tiger Demon Punch” had already reached a level of sublime mastery, of unity in form and spirit. His every punch and kick contained enormous power, like a ferocious tiger descending a mountain, frightening to the extreme.

Previously, Shang Meng absolutely could not win against Shang Xiao, but after refining the Tear of Blood, Shang Meng’s True Qi advanced by leaps and bounds. His will to fight was even more frenzied, too.

“Pixiu Power Palm!!”

“Tiger Demon Ripper!”

A tiger spirit emerged from his fist. Shang Xiao also practiced martial intent. He spread his arms and was like a tiger pouncing on a deer. A lunge, a pivot, a slash, a sharp intent threaded about Shang Meng directly. Cultivators several meters away stepped back out of fright.

Shang Meng was unfazed. The Pixiu Power Palm pushed the Black And White Soul Technique to the limit, stopping the ferocious Tiger Demon Palms. Shang Xiao pressed his attack, wanting to kill Shang Meng in a single stroke, completely disregarding they were blood.

Shang Meng was continuously pushed back, “Pixiu Pierces Clouds!!” True Qi flew forth and struck left and right like a whip, coupling strength with softness. Along with its whistling sound, the True Qi endlessly erupted.

“What? Pixiu Pierces Clouds!” Shang Yangjun was stunned. Pixiu Pierces Clouds was a Pixiu martial art that could compare to a divine power. This technique completely used True Qi to strike the enemy, but it had a very large opening. In particular, it required enormous Primordial True Qi support. If the technique failed to seize the advantage, then it was practically a disastrous situation, one of severe self-detriment.

Shang Xiao was beat back by Pixiu Pierces Clouds. He crossed his arms, adopting a defensive posture. All of his Ninth Deva True Qi continuously resisted Shang Meng’s strike.

“Hè!!! Boiling Blood Qi Transformation!” Shang Meng roared. His eyes were blood-red. The True Qi flowing over his whole body was suddenly dyed the red of sunset. Shang Meng’s waning True Qi suddenly flared again, reinvigorated.

“Shang Meng, don’t!!” Shang Yangjun called for him to stop.

But he was already no longer the young man who shyly smiled after his original defeat back at the tribe’s martial arts competition. Endless fervor was on Shang Meng’s face, greed that was like desire. He wanted power, an even stronger power.

“What??”

Shang Xiao did not anticipate Shang Meng would be so reckless. All of his True Qi was broken.

The True Qi chain slammed into his body, causing him to vomit blood.

Shang Xiao screamed, his clothes ripped. He maliciously said: “Boiling Blood Qi Transformation!!!”

At the same time, his own True Qi turned completely red, and all of his pores seemed to emit evaporating blood.

“Die!! Die!!”

“Have you gone mad!!” Shang Yangjun wanted to intervene, but she was stopped by Shang Shiwu.

“Little Sister, don’t interfere in a martial arts competition. Otherwise, you will be subject to execution.” Shang Shiwu was very pleased to see their feverish battle.

“Have you all lost your minds? Why go so far.” Shang Yangjun was distressed.

“The weak are food for the strong, this is the rule of the barbarians!! When that wolf child comes, an even crueler fate awaits him.” Shang Shiwu sneered. Countless Qi Refinement Ninth Deva cultivators among the Twelve Tribes were wringing their palms, prepared to devour Shang Xuan’s flesh.

Roar!!

“I won, the Tiger Tribe’s banner is mine!!!”

In the arena, Shang Shiwu was covered in blood as he cackled. He tore Shang Xiao’s head off with his bare hands and held it high in the air. The neck dripped blood as he showed a victorious posture. No one felt terror, disgust, or revulsion; they were all cheering.

“You…”

The malice, cruelty, and bloodthirst in the eyes of the surrounding men and women gave Shang Yangjun the chills.

These people were like caged beasts.

  1. 血氣 is “blood and qi,” but it can also mean “valor.” In other words, while they had gained power, these disciples had likewise lost something that was also fundamental.
