“Shang Xuan?!”
“Was he not dead?”
“He is actually still alive.”
Everyone talked over each other.
Shang Ci looked like he had seen a ghost. He simply did not dare to believe his own eyes. He had but personally killed Shang Xuan, and then he had dispatched Shang Kui to throw the body to the Heaven Devouring Stone to destroy the evidence. How could this man still be alive.
Qi Lin bounded onto the competition platform with a few steps and then cupped his fist towards Shang Qi.
Shang Qi glanced at his daughter. Shang Yangjun skillfully concealed her emotions, yet her eyes still held a bit of pleasant surprise. However, upon seeing that he actually wanted to challenge Shang Ci, her brows slightly furrowed.
“Shang Xuan, where did you go recently? Why have you returned only now!” Shang Qi asked.
“I went out to hunt and fell into a cave by mistake. That cost me a lot of time. I wonder if I made it in time for the banner guardian competition.” Qi Lin respectfully said.
“Hm?” Shang Qi noticed that the young man in front of him had become a bit different from before. Previously, Shang Xuan was unable to refine qi, so his personality was a bit withdrawn, not fond of speaking.
“You also want to fight to be the banner guardian?” Shang Ci’s father, Shang Wei, jeered: “Don’t tell me the wolf child unable to refine qi thinks he can become the guardian through speed and sneak attacks?”
Qi Lin did not pay him any mind. He only continued to stare at Shang Qi.
“Since he is a disciple of the Pixiu Tribe, he naturally has the qualifications to participate.” Shang Qi seriously said: “Are you certain you want to face Shang Ci?”
“Of course, very much so.” Qi Lin said meaningfully.
Shang Ci disdainfully said: “How dare a cripple like you, who is at Qi Refinement First Deva, disrespect This Young Master.”
“Since neither side has objected, very well. The victor shall face Shang Yangjun for the final round.” Shang Qi nodded. He did not believe that Shang Xuan could win. Though Shang Xuan’s speed was very fast, the competition arena had a defined boundary. Shang Ci’s Li Heaven Chant as well as his Black And White Mixed Origin Chant were both quite practiced. He was a well-known figure among the tribe’s younger generations.
“Ci’er, show him what you can do.” Shang Wei ordered.
“Yes, Father.” Shang Ci faintly smiled.
Seeing Shang Xuan and Shang Ci were about to face off, the other tribesmen all gathered around. However, the power gap between the two was too great. There was no one who believed that Shang Xuan could win.
“En, you seemed to have changed. Apparently, that trip in the wilderness gave you some benefits.” Shang Ci sized him up.
Qi Lin narrowed his eyes: “A disappointment for you.”
Shang Ci’s pupils contracted, and his sneer became even more pronounced.
“This time, I will properly rest you inside a coffin.” Shang Ci circulated his Sixth Deva Primordial True Qi and attacked with the Li Heaven Chant.
The punch-light was like a cannonball, bang, bang, bang, exploding in the air in a series. As far as the eye could see, the arena was filled with explosions, leaving no room for escape.
The Li Heaven Chant was a Tier Two ability, much stronger than the Pixiu Tribe’s Tier One martial arts. They were obtained from an ancient cultivator that Shang Ci’s ancestors met in the wilderness. Afterwards, they passed it down the generations, making Shang Ci’s family elder rank.
Cannonfire filled the skies, rattling the eardrums. The other disciples covered their ears, feeling their eardrums shake to the point of bleeding.
Over the platform, Shang Qi and the others were also in awe.
“Shang Wei, your son’s Li Heaven Chant has been cultivated to be so powerful.”
“Ha, ha, as expected of a Tier Two ability.”
“To use full power against a cripple, my son has overdone it.” Shang Wei appeared to criticize his son, but his face was full of joy.
“This demonstrates that Shang Ci is not to be taken lightly, good.”
Everyone offered praise, completely treating Qi Lin as the loser.
Shang Yangjun clenched her fists, her eyes staring fixedly on the platform.
Shang Ci wildly unleashed the Li Heaven Chant. Cannonball after cannonball-like punch-shadows exploded endlessly. Dust and ash filled the area, instantly consuming Qi Lin’s figure.
Even if Shang Xuan possessed excellent body techniques, in such a small arena, he was completely without any chance to display them. Shang Qi already sent for the physician in preparation to carry Shang Xuan down at a moment’s notice.
The barbarian clans lived in a poor environment, which was filled with all kinds of enemies all year round. It was not strange for the disciples who went out to battle to suffer serious injuries or even lose their lives. Only by going through cruel battle experience could they genuinely understand what power represented.
After a wild barrage, Shang Ci sensed his True Qi was exhausted and immediately ceased his attack. He took a deep breath.
In his imagination, if Shang Xuan had not fled the arena with his tail between his legs, then he was already at his last breath now.
A figure slowly came into view amidst the dust.
Shang Ci smirked.
“Is this all you’re capable of?” Qi Lin sneered.
“Huh?” Shang Ci’s grin vanished. He did not dare believe the scene in front of him.
Qi Lin’s arms had acted as shields, surprisingly leaving him unscathed.
“This is impossible.” Shang Ci could not help but scream.
Qi Lin’s legs moved. Swift as the wind, he threw a punch.
Shang Ci used the body technique “Pixiu Rolls Through Grass.” This body technique actually was nothing remarkable, just that he was able to quickly flank Qi Lin. “Courting death!” Shang Ci was malevolent, his palm slicing viciously downwards like a blade.
“Li Heaven Chant, Volcano Palm!!”
Sixth Deva True Qi gushed forth. The palm-wind was fierce, the might boundless as it pushed out like a flaming red hot sword.
Qi Lin was already aware of his strategy. His own left hand acted as a blade, infused with bone-chilling cold, as he used the Dual Modes Seal ability to intercept Shang Ci’s Volcano Palm, which pounded fiercely against the back of his hand. Shang Ci’s Sixth Deva True Qi shot out, fully charged, sufficient to snap iron.
But he immediately discovered that he had counted his chickens before they hatched; his attack had missed.
The Sixth Deva Primordial True Qi was surprisingly unable to shake Qi Lin.
“True Qi Sixth Deva?” Shang Ci was flabbergasted. “How do you have True Qi Sixth Deva Realm.”
Qi Lin forcefully caught the Volcano Palm using the interchange of Two Yins Two Yangs. His True Qi surged.
His arms restrained, Shang Ci’s expression changed.
Bang.
Another “Pixiu Power Palm” descended, striking Shang Ci’s chest.
The youth screamed, his ribs broken. He collapsed onto the ground in incomparable agony.
“Hmph.” Qi Lin sneered and retracted his hand. He knew that he could not kill Shang Ci in front of so many eyes.
“Impossible!!”
Everyone was stupefied.
Shang Ci was unexpectedly defeated in merely a few blows. This was simply unbelievable.
The expression of Shang Wei, who had only just been so pleased with himself, was now frighteningly dim, his eyes about to pop out of their sockets, the veins of his arms visibly bulging.
“Is that really Shang Xuan? How is he so powerful, to actually be able to remain unharmed under the Li Heaven Chant.”
“His cultivation is apparently already at True Qi Sixth Deva? In just a few days.”
“There are countless treasures in the wildlands. Perhaps he had a once in a millennium lucky encounter.”
The elders glanced at each other in disbelief.
“Can you still stand like a man? Or perhaps you will be treacherous like before.” Qi Lin asked.
Shang Ci vomited blood. His entire body quivered in fury. All of a sudden, he gripped his fan and threw it.
“Die!!”
The magic treasure “Crow Feather Fan” unfolded.
The crow feathers suddenly became black needles that shot towards Qi Lin.
I was waiting for you to use your magic treasure.
Qi Lin had been also prepared to use the Hard Chain Spear to counterattack, to have just cause to kill Shang Ci.
At this moment, a mirror suddenly appeared before him. The face of this mirror was smooth, reflecting water-light that completely stopped the Crow Feather Fan. All of the incoming feather projectiles silently fell into the water.
Water Wave Mirror!!
Qi Lin was taken aback. He gazed up at the platform, where his eyes met a beautiful young girl’s.
Shang Yangjun.
The girl’s eyes were as blue as water, like a warm lake. They seemed to say.
She was saying.
Welcome home.
