The red demon python floated upon the pond with a screech. The lotus on its head slowly bloomed, absorbing the quintessence of its death. It once again emitted a blood-red light. A graceful and elegant woman’s foot gently landed on the python’s body and was about to seize that lotus.
Qi Lin came to his senses and crossed the distance in one step, appearing before her: “Lady, all things in this world are first come, first served. I was nearly about to finish this demon python.”
“First come, first served?”
The woman was expressionless.
Ten Shamans City indeed had such a rule. In regards to spirit grasses, the first to find one was rightfully allowed to take it. This was to avoid disputes. Of course, this rule was to maintain outwardly upstanding appearances, to clear the conscience of Ten Shamans City. As for whether or not people abided by it, that was a different matter entirely. However, if discovered by the Shaman Clan of Ten Shamans City, they could legitimately enforce it.
“You are merely a basic Golden Core, only First Trigram in Realm, and you think you can kill this ‘Blood Lotus Python?'”
The woman appeared very amiable, an appearance was amenable to reason.
“On what grounds do you feel that I’m unable to kill it.” Qi Lin curiously sized her up. Her cultivation was a bit unfathomable, and her slender figure, gentle eyes, and overwhelmingly dignified temperament demonstrated that this woman should be of very wealthy background.
“The Blood Lotus Python is a Demon Beast equivalent to Golden Core Fifth Realm. It seems you are unaware.” The woman flatly said.
Golden Core Fifth Realm was Golden Core Middle Stage, a significant difference from Golden Core Early Stage, but not necessarily out of reach with a Dark Heaven magic treasure.
“I know. Don’t tell me I look like one of those people who bring about their own demise?” Qi Lin grinned. He did not want to continue arguing this. A good man did not fight with a woman. Although she had seized her opening to enter, delivering a fatal blow to the Blood Lotus Python, no one would be convinced if word of this got out. But Qi Lin had spent so much time searching for a mind supplement medicine. His mind and body were already weary. It was only after great difficulty that he found a substitute for the water of truth-return, and he honestly did not want to continue the search. “Then would the lady be willing to leave me a lotus petal? Your Servant has toiled without credit.”
“The most important part of the Blood Lotus Python is the ‘Life Lotus’ on its head. It uses the flower to lure cultivators, seizing the chance to devour them alive. You may take its flesh, but this flower is of use to me.” The woman was very good with her words. She was not very concerned with the Blood Lotus Python’s flesh, organs, or even its inner core; she was focused on that Life Lotus.
“I will not hide this from the lady, but I require a lotus petal to refine a soul supplement pill. I have a little sister who has fallen ill, and I must have this ingredient.” Qi Lin was left with no choice. He could only offer up a sob story. Generally speaking, women who heard such a thing would most likely soften up a lot.
“Hm?” Yet this woman frowned: “You can concoct soul supplement pills?”
“Of course. If the lady is willing to give the flower to me, I am willing to refine a soul supplement pill as compensation.” Qi Lin suggested.
The woman looked Qi Lin up and down, completely unable to see how this wet-behind-the-ears young man could be a medicine refinement master, but those utterly sincere eyes did not seem to be lying. “You said you could handle the Blood Lotus Python just now, yes?”
Qi Lin nodded.
“Good.”
The woman’s slender figure pointed downwards. A crimson light entered the demon python’s head. Then, this dead demon python’s entire body shuddered.
“I revived it just now. If you can kill it, I will believe your words.”
“Huh?”
The woman waved her hand. Crimson light covered the demon python, and that dead Blood Lotus Python surprisingly stood up again. However, its demonic qi was even more terrifying than before. This time, the demon python was filled with a dense and sinister qi. He did not know what strange ability she used to unexpectedly resuscitate the dead demon python.
The Blood Lotus Python flicked its tongue and hissed.
A crimson light fired from its mouth, and it cut across Qi Lin’s cheek like a sharp sword.
Qi Lin activated the Dual Modes Seal to dispel this attack, and he soared upwards.
His heavy fist pummeled the snake repeatedly.
The Blood Lotus Python forcibly resisted. Its demonic qi endlessly attacked Qi Lin.
After all, it was a Golden Core Middle Stage; its strength was nothing to look down upon. In terms of magical energy, it did not lose out, but forcibly resisting against him was still unfavorable. He drew the bow to full, and the arrow became a shooting star.
The Heaven-shaking Bow emitted a loud noise.
The entire island’s seawater surged. The magical energy of the Heaven-shaking Bow immediately reduced all of the demon python’s demon qi to dust, and the Cloud-piercing Arrow shot into the demon python’s maw.
The terrible arrow-wind covered Heaven and Earth, producing an enormous gale.
The woman stood below the demon python. Beforehand, when Qi Lin had been fighting the demon python, she had been quiet as a maiden, treating him with indifference and completely ignorign his powers. But after the Dark Heaven magic treasure fired, she finally showed astonishment. The woman’s figure flickered, and she warped away.
The Cloud-piercing Arrow shot straight through the demon python, coincidentally emerging out from the top of its head right under the stem of the lotus flower, uprooting the Life Lotus on its way out.
The demon python’s blood suddenly fell like rain.
The woman was stirred, her eyes glimmering.
“How about it, I wasn’t deceiving you.” Qi Lin shrugged.
“I will believe you this once. May I ask for Your Distinguished Self’s name.”
“Your Servant’s monastic name is True Person Xiaoyao.” Qi Lin offered an alias.
“Ten Shamans City’s Wu Gu Pavilion. I will be waiting for your soul supplement there. If you truly can refine one, I can even give you another Life Lotus.” The woman flatly said.
“I will not fail you.”
Qi Lin was not modest with her.
The woman turned and ventured deeper into the Fog Spirit Sea, leaving behind only a white shadow that was like mist.
This woman’s identity was not simple indeed.
If she wanted to gift him the Life Lotus, she should just do so. Seeing her take action, her every word and movement was bold and unhurried. Qi Lin was quite confident she would keep her word, but at the moment, he would first need to refine the Five Flavors Soul Returning Powder. Qi Lin then searched the vicinity further and found a secret cave. Then, he prepared a defensive array and began the first pill refinement of his life.
Qi Lin took out the five spirit medicines. Then, he plucked one of the Life Lotus’ petals.
Afterwards, he prepared the pill concoction cauldron. According to the prescription’s recipe, he was to mix in the five spirit medicines in accordance with Five Elements engenderment. Then, he operated the Golden Core in his body, producing a pill-fire from his finger.
This pill-fire was the condensed flame of the Golden Core. If the Li Trigram of Golden Core was practiced to perfection, the pill-fire would be even larger; it was a Realm that the average medicine refinement master had. Although Qi Lin did not, he had no other choice.
He shifted his thoughts, and the Green Satchel Book flew out.
The Green Satchel Book released a green light that enveloped the cauldron. Then, endless clear qi covered and entered it. To a pill refinement master, refining a pill required not only an accurate grasp of timing, the Five Elements, the proportions of the medicine materials, and control of the pill fire, the spiritual energy of Heaven and Earth also could not be deficient.
For a high quality pill to be concocted, it required satisfactory ‘spirit of Heaven, power of Earth, and qi of Man’ to be considered perfect.
Qi Lin did not dare let himself be distracted as he controlled the pill-fire. Fortunately, the Green Satchel Book magic treasured possessed formidable spirit medicine qi. It naturally was even more effective in refining pills. This clear light could not only recondense the medicine energy spent refining the materials, it could maintain the essence of the materials. It had reached at least the level of “power of Earth.”
Which was also to say that using the Green Satchel Book to refine the pill would result in at least an Earth Rank pill.
About an hour later, Qi Lin stored the pill fire and Green Satchel Book. He waited in satisfaction for his very first pill to leave the cauldron.
The lid opened, and he smelled something burning.
Qi Lin’s heart stopped. He cursed under his breath and saw from a glance that a cracked pill was inside.
His first pill was a failure.
It was his first, after all. Qi Lin was somewhat inexperienced, and his control over the pill-fire was still not proficient.
Qi Lin was not discouraged. He pondered quietly, first organizing the aspects of pill refinement that he was unpracticed with. This was his habit. At all times, he was willing to taste the experience that came with failure and not consider it suffering. As he meditated, Qi Lin sensed an auspicious qi circulate through his body, enhancing his senses.
This seemed to be the qi of the Holy Beast Qilin.
When Qi Lin opened his eyes again, they were filled with confidence.
