Not only was cultivating Golden Core and soul challenging for cultivators, a process requiring training in the Bagua of heaven, earth, thunder, wind, water, fire, mountain, and marsh. When the Bagua were complete, the soul would mature. But in the process of cultivation, the Three Souls and Six Spirits would be very difficult to control. Sometimes, the soul would disperse, requiring enormous power to contain. If one had a treasure the likes of the “Soul Returning Lantern,” which nourished the soul, then that truly was double the result with half the effort.
It was an absolutely irresistible enticement for any Golden Core cultivator.
Wu Gu thought this man would be the same, but Qi Lin merely glanced at each of the fire pans. He had no intentions at all of taking the lanterns.
“Why don’t you go take it?” Wu Gu meaningfully asked.
Qi Lin rolled his eyes. In terms of cultivation, he was not as strong as Wu Gu, but in terms of tomb-raiding and archaeological abilities, not even ten Wu Gu’s could match him. Qi Lin grasped the situation clearly. He had already noticed the mechanism in this fire pan. Under the oil there were some strange black dots, almost like mosquitoes. Without a close look, they appeared to be ash or impurities, but for each fire pan to contain such an impurity was not normal. In old tombs, some emperors would install mechanisms below the lanterns.
For example, ever-burning wicks used an extremely precious “Southern Sea Immortality String,” or perhaps the lantern or brazier would be constructed from gold. Once a graverobber had thoughts to take them the mechanism would activate.
Making traps that exploited avarice was a time-tested trick in every imperial tomb. Qi LIn had already seen through this one. This fire lantern’s ten thousand year oil was definitely nothing simple.
Wu Gu nodded, impressed: “You have very good eyes. I truly am curious as to what sort of expert this master of yours is for you to know even this.” Indeed, the black bugs hibernating in the oil of these Soul Returning Lanterns were a type of “ancient gu.” Should a cultivator disturb the oil, these ancient gu would awaken, and a Golden Core cultivator basically could not escape them.
Previously, some cultivators thoughts of greed and consequently died wretched deaths. Wu Gu and the others of the Ten Shamans were very clear on this.
Qi Lin expressed regret. If not for these gu, he honestly wanted to take one for cultivation. This would accelerate his progress significantly.
“When we take the Luan Pill Cauldron, there will be a relatively dangerous Fierce Beast. I have no way to help you right now, but you should be able to handle it, yes?” Wu Gu remembered this.
“No problem.”
“Then, good.”
Qi Lin and Wu Gu walked through the dim ruins. The Soul Returning Lanterns were lit one by one, reaching into the innermost depths. The Immemorial Royal Family was indeed worthy of being called the family that once ruled Primordial World. The scale and grandeur of this tomb left QI Lin’s imagination somewhat exhausted.
The ruins’ construction was enormous and beautiful. To describe it as the work of gods was an understatement.
In the long corridors, the walls were beautiful frescoes. Their depictions were life-like, recording the glorious achievements of a woman. She cut down immortals and gods, slaughtered demons and devils. The great Primordial revered here, and every detail depiction was full of a heart-stopping beauty.
Presumably, this should be the story of the legendary White Emperor Shaohao.
Qi Lin suddenly had an impulse. Wait until after he helped Qi Qi obtained her Ruyi Jingu Bang, then he would unearth every mystery that the late Immemorial Royal Family had left behind. Perhaps those were indescribable wonders.
The pair admired the long pictures as if they were wandering leisurely through an art gallery. However, even if they were still a bit on alert, with Qi Lin already extremely on guard, he still unavoidably disturbed a mysterious forbiddance in the sacrificial grounds.
In a main hall, a row of orderly dummies appeared.
These puppets were all more than two meters tall, their facial features very well-defined, carved expressionlessly, solemn and desolate.
Qi Lin was already very careful to avoid them, but when he drew close, these puppets suddenly seemed to come to life. They gripped weapons and immediately slashed at him. Qi Lin jumped in surprise, but he promptly composed himself. His fists and feet greeted them. The pixiu martial arts handled them with no problem.
The puppets were reduced to smithereens by the powerful blows.
Very quickly, every puppet in the hall was disintegrated by Qi Lin’s power.
“Strange, if these puppets are guarding a place as important as these sacrificial grounds, they’re unavoidably too weak.” Qi Lin felt this was illogical. Even a Qi Refinement Ninth Deva cultivator could handle such puppets. They basically could not fulfill their functions as defensive measures.
Immediately, Wu Gu informed him that the answer was far from being so simple.
“Careful!! You have triggered the forbiddance.”
“What? Forbiddance?”
Qi Lin was startled.
The puppet remains strewn over the ground were drawn together by an invisible force, as if a giant hand had collected them. Liquid metal flowed out from holes in the ground and combined with the mud. In an instant, an enormous puppet appeared. Qi Lin raised his brow. This was the first time he had seen such a mechanism; he threw a punch at it.
Bang.
His fist punched through the puppet’s body. But what surprised him was the lack of feeling. This puppet’s body was simply more mystical than a river; the power in his fist was completely absorbed.
“This is a Mystery Silver Puppet. It will absorb the power of your attacks to grow stronger.” Wu Gu warned.
“Tsk.”
This Mystery Silver Puppet’s facial lines slowly warped. They were malevolent like an asura from hell. Its eyes emitted an eerie red light, and its entire body shuddered violently. Amidst the shuddering, a strange, mournful cry came from its chest.
The twinkling red eyes scanned around. The Mystery Silver Puppet slowly turned towards Qi Lin. The roaring sound of a river was like flowing liquid metal, loud and fierce. It had already strode over, its enormous body bearing terrible weight. With every step, it caused the ground to shake. While it looked like mercury, its power was far stronger than expected.
This was interesting.
The ground under Qi Lin’s feet instantly exploded. A powerful vortex made Wu Gu unable to help but stumble backwards a few steps. By using the rebound, he was already charging fiercely ahead. The powerful force carried extreme speed. His entire person was like a black shadow, completely indistinct.
Ignoring the Mystery Silver Puppet’s oppression, Qi Lin’s eyes gleamed. His palms were like a net, covering his entire person. From head to toe, he exuded overwhelming magical energy. Under this type of ability, Qi Lin seemed to glow. His right hand already used his forceful charge to ruthlessly strike.
Boom!!!!!
“Dual Modes Seal – Strength And Gentleness!”
A jolt in the hall amidst the cacophony.
Using gentleness to conquer strength, strength to dispel gentleness, the Mystery Silver Puppet just so happened to have the trait of coupling strength with gentleness, but Qi Lin’s punch reversed strength and gentleness perfectly.
The giant Mystery Silver Puppet wobbled backwards amidst the Dual Modes Strength And Gentleness. As it stepped back, the entire floor seemed to jolt endlessly like an earthquake. Giant footprints were carved deep into the ground one after another.
In an instant, the Mystery Silver Puppet’s body seemed to show wounds, leaving even Wu Gu astonished. If it was not through a fatal strike by a strong magic treasure, it would be very difficult for a Golden Core cultivator to achieve victory through abilities alone. Just what was this Xiaoyaozi’s background.
Qi Lin and the Mystery Silver Puppet were in a wild melee.
However, Wu Gu understood that this was far from enough to defeat the Mystery Silver Puppet. It was known that White Emperor Shaohao’s Mystery Silvery army was a terrifying existence that swept through the Western Primordial back in the day.
