“So Star World also has the saying, ‘helping the tyrant Zhou in his tyranny?'”

Chen Mo blinked. He thought that after Qin Weiyu bade farewell, he would not know when they would next meet, just like with Zhongli Mo, but he did not anticipate that they would surprisingly see each other again after only several days at the frontier of the Northern Barbarians.

“Big SIster.” Little Nianyou rubbed against her like a kitten.

Qin Weiyu stroked Nianyou’s head, her smile a bit forced.

“What’s going on with you?” Chen Mo walked over and saw that the Magpie Bridge Immortal’s situation was a bit distressing. The woman in front of him was drained of color, extremely weak, completely without a Star General’s bearing. She was like a flickering candle, on the verge of sputtering out.

Qin Weiyu panted slightly and was just about to reply.

Suddenly, a violent pounding came from outside the door.

Bang, bang, bang.

“Open the door, open the door, routine inspection. Those inside, hurry and come out!” A soldier’s roar came from the other side of the door.

Chen Mo glanced at Qin Weiyu. The woman withdrew and retreated into the bed on her own.

Then, Chen Mo sat upright and still. He waved his hand, and the door swung open.

The officer knocking on the door did not anticipate this and missed his next knock, tumbling in and falling flat on his face. The soldiers were angered, “You dare mock us, don’t you think of surviving this!” Just as they were about to draw their swords, they suddenly met Chen Mo’s eyes.

Their unbridled arrogance seemed to have been extinguished by ice and frost, instantly stupefying them.

“God Transformation cultivator!!”

The officer’s face was pale as a sheet, and he trembled. How could he have imagined that he would surprisingly meet a God Transformation cultivator at an inn.

“Sir Adept, Your Servant is carrying out a mission in Wuding City.” In the end, they were soldiers who protected the north. There was some valor in their hearts, and they very quickly summoned up the courage to bow.

“Enough nonsense. What is the matter that you would disturb my lover’s rest.” Spiritual pressure shot forth from Chen Mo’s eyes.

“This…Your Servant is carrying out the Supreme General’s command to search for a criminal. We plead your forgiveness for disturbing Adept.”

“Do you think my room would contain the criminal your Supreme General is searching for.” Chen Mo asked back.

“Of course, how could Adept harbor a criminal.” The soldiers all put on smiles. They glanced around the room and prepared to leave.

“Who permitted you to leave.” Chen Mo coldly spoke.

The soldiers’ expressions changed, thinking that Chen Mo was about to kill and silence them. Greater Thunder Tribulation cultivators were unbridled overlords in the Great Chong Dynasty, extremely arrogant, and they perhaps disdained the court’s soldiers as beneath their contempt.

“Since you are fulfilling a command from your general, Your Servant shall not make things difficult for you. Do not disturb my lover’s sleep. You may report back when you have searched the room.” Chen Mo calmly said.

The soldiers were delighted, having not expected this God Transformation cultivator to be so reasonable.

“Then excuse us.”

The soldiers cupped their fists and walked into the room. This time, their ordered search was extremely strict, for they did not dare be neglectful. If they were able to find the criminal, that would be a significant achievement.

Chen Mo understood that he needed to let these soldiers feel at ease. If he refused them at the door, these soldiers would inevitably return with such a report. This would later draw even more skepticism and be troublesome. However, after his intimidation, Chen Mo was not afraid even if they actually found Qin Weiyu.

As expected, the soldiers entered the room and searched, but they did not dare even glance at the bed.

How could they dare have the slightest thought of philandering a God Transformation cultivator’s Dao companion.

“Just who is so formidable as to make Supreme General Chen Qi dispatch troops to surround Wuding City.” Chen Mo asked.

The officer did not dare hide anything and carefully replied: “Your Servant does not know, except that she is a woman, a Star General, apparently. Reportedly, these are orders from Her Highness Huan Wen.” The soldiers specially mentioned Huan Wen’s name to embolden themselves, to deter their counterpart.

“Huan Wen.” Chen Mo nodded. “So it turned out to be a Star General.”

“Have you found anything?” Chen Mo leisurely asked.

The soldiers had turned the room upside down and found nothing. They awkwardly smiled: “Apologies for disturbing Senior and his Dao companion’s rest. If Senior should find any clues, we hope you will make a report. Her Highness Huan Wen shall bestow significant rewards!”

Chen Mo noncommittally nodded.

The soldiers carefully withdrew from the room and closed the door. Then, the sounds of objects being thrown and shouts immediately came from the other rooms.

“Didn’t you think to hand me over to strengthen the relationship between you and Huan Wen?” A languid voice came from behind the canopy.

“Don’t screw around. Let me see your wounds.” Chen Mo got on the bed and made her back face him without allowing another word, tearing off her shirt. Qin Weiyu was heavily wounded and powerless to resist, allowing her bare back to be seen by a man.

“These are wounds created by Star Energy. Simple healing will be useless.” Qin Weiyu shut her eyes.

Chen Mo took out several Astral Coins and gave them to Qin Weiyu, using some herbs to staunch her bleeding. The girl’s skin was extremely sore. With the slightest touch from his finger, he could feel the girl flinch.

While mending her wounds, Chen Mo took the time to ask just what happened and how she came to face Huan Wen.

It turned out that after she parted with Chen Mo at Nan Jiang, Qin Weiyu traveled north, where she planned to infiltrate the Northern Barbarians’ “Weightbearer Mountain”1 in search of something, but it was very bad luck that she bumped into Seven Stars Huan Wen, who had also come to the land of the Northern Barbarians.

A great battle occurred between them. The Earthly Ecstasy Star Qin Guan was fundamentally no match for the Seven Stars. Huan Wen viciously and mercilessly wanted to take her Star Name to bolster her own power, however, Qin Weiyu was abundant in experience. After she was sounded by Huan Wen, she fled, pursued by Huan Wen all the way here.

Originally, Qin Weiyu wanted to blend in with the city’s populace to temporarily avoid her pursuer, but she did not anticipate that Huan Wen would summon the Fixed North Camp’s Supreme General, surprisingly commanding him to mobilize his battalion to surround and search the entire city. If it was not for her luckily spotting Chen Mo on the roof when he used the Deva Eyes, allowing Qin Weiyu to sense a familiar power and trace it, she would have fallen in this place without finding what she was looking for.

After hearing her account, Chen Mo wiped some cold sweat.

“The reason you were unwilling to tell me was that you’re also here for the Zhi Ming Star Image’s Star Mansion Spirit Stones?” Chen Mo more or less deduced the goal for Qin Weiyu’s arrival in the north.

Qin Weiyu was taken aback and confused: “You also know of the Zhi Ming Star Image?” Star World’s Star Images could only be comprehended by astrologers and Star Generals who had inherited a Star Name. Even if Chen Mo cultivated Star Energy, it would not be easy for him to understand the changes in the Stars.

“We truly do have a connection, huh, Weiyu. I, too, bumped into Huan Wen and nearly died.” Chen Mo smiled and said.

“Hm?”

Chen Mo narrated his encounter at the bottom of the volcano, and the woman’s face immediately became very odd, an expression of “you have got to be joking.”

“Rest well tonight. With me here, you’re safe for the time being. However, there’s no way you can refuse me for going to this Zhi Ming Star Image together.” Chen Mo said.

“This Zhi Ming Star Image is a Star General’s target. Are you not afraid of dying?”

“I am afraid of dying.” Chen Mo was honest: “But I’m more afraid of not daring to take an opportunity right in front of me, that would be to die with regrets.”

Qin Weiyu knew Chen Mo’s nature, that he was able to become leader of Nan Jiang was definitely not through luck. She was too heavily injured and was without the strength to persuade him. The woman closed her eyes and sat cross-legged in meditation. Behind this canopy, her heart was suddenly filled with incomparable tranquility.

Chen Mo retracted his smile and walked before the window. Outside, the lanterns were bright, and cries echoed everywhere. The army shuttled back and forth through the city, bringing a heavy atmosphere.

“Big Brother, does this mean you joined forces with Huan Wen?”

Chen Mo pursed his lips and gazed at a faraway pavilion.

Below the pavilion, Chen Qi sat atop a black horse. His tall figure was draped in armor that was a hundred catties heavy, the shoulders of which were carved into the shape of feline heads. The armor was not bright and neat at all. The damage accumulated over several decades of toil were left upon it, making this armor appear malevolent beyond compare.

Beside Chen Qi was a young woman riding a white horse.

The pairing of the girl’s black armor and white robes appeared neat and tidy, and her distinct black pupils also glowed like snow. Compared to Chen Qi’s tough and stocky build, the girl was simply petite, but her qi field was stronger than Chen Qi’s by a hundredfold. The Fixed Northern Camp’s strongest warriors and cultivators could only lower their heads in fear while in her presence.

“Your Highness Huan Wen, This General has already dispatched the army to blockade Wuding City, and there are cultivators outside standing watch. If that woman has infiltrated this place, she definitely will not escape.” Chen Qi reported.

Huan Wen glanced indifferently at Chen Qi and coldly said: “If only.”

“You are Chen Zhangtian’s eldest son, yes?” Huan Wen narrowed here eyes: “What do you know about your third brother’s matters?”

“This General has heard some things.” Chen Qi said.

“Then what do feel about that third brother of yours?”

“This General has been stationed at Bei Jiang for more than ten years with only rare visits back to Chang’an. I am not very sure about Third Brother.”2 Chen Qi replied. “Why does Your Highness Huan Wen ask about this.”

“Nothing. I heard that your third brother was a cripple before, then he suddenly cultivated Star Energy. I want to know if your Chang’an Mansion is hiding a Star General?”

“Star General?” Chen Qi shook his head.

“Your Highness Huan Wen, you are so concerned about Chen Mo, Yanyu is jealous.”

A charming voice came from behind them.

Huan Wen glanced out of the corner of her eye. There was only one person in the entire Great Chong Dynasty who would dare to speak to her like this, Jiang Yanyu, the genius who trained in the Inner Star Fields.

“Little Sister Yanyu is also here.” Chen Qi smiled.

“Elder Brother Chen Qi, I trust you have been well.” Jiang Yanyu slowly trotted over on a red horse.

“Jiang Yanyu, do you feel that This Highness is very concerned about that man?” Huan Wen flatly asked.

Jiany Yanyu chuckled. “Sister Huan Wen, do not be angry. Yanyu was merely joking.”

Princess Yanyu looked at the city that was full of activity, “I think that Qin Guan should have fled already. Perhaps you will not catch her.”

“Forget it, she is a weak Star General, leave her be.” Huan Wen grunted.

“Activity for the Zhi Ming Star Image is intense, as expected. You already encountered a Star General so quickly.” Jiang Yanyu said.

“This is to seize Star Mansion Spirit Stones and Star Energy. This Highness must have ambition. No matter who dares to fight for it, This Highness will completely destroy them.” Huan Wen coldly said.

Jiang Yanyu said: “However, the Zhi Ming Star Image is in the depths of the Northern Barbarians’ Record Mountain. This will not be easy.”

“Elder Brother Chen Qi, I heard that a Star General has also appeared among the Northern Barbarians?” Jiang Yanyu asked.

“Yes, for the last ten years, the Northern Barbarians have repeatedly launched attacks on the border, apparently under her orders. This General received information that she will lead an army for this Star Image.”

“Do you know what Star General she is?” Jiang Yanyu asked.

Chen Qi shook his head. Even if he was Supreme General of Bei Jiang, he did not have the qualifications to trade blows with a Star General.

“I actually faced her once.” Huan Wen recalled some previous events. “Her Destined Star Weapon was concealed very well, and I do not know her Star Name either. But I feel that she should not be a third rate Star General like Qin Guan. She should a formidable martial general.”

“Interesting.” Jiang Yanyu smiled.

“Please rest for the night, Princess and Your Highness. This General will order people to maintain strict surveillance. If there is any activity, I will come report.”

“En.”

“What a pity that I cannot see Chen Mo for an opportunity as rare as the Zhi Ming Star Image.” Jiang Yanyu regretfully said. She was actually very eager to see how this man would fare if he was embroiled into the conflict between Star Generals.

“He is only one man, you value him too highly.”

Huan Wen’s flat voice came from in front of her.

  2. Chen Luan and Chen Lin refers to Chen Mo as “Fourth Brother.” I think the author forgot how Chen Mo is addressed by his family.

  1. Regarding how Chen Mo is referred to as “[Chen Qi’s] third brother,” it may be that she is either discounting Chen Qi himself (who has three siblings, the third of which is Chen Mo) or she’s skipping Chen Luan, who is not a brother but a sister.

I’m fairly certain it was common in Japan to order the sons and daughters of a person separately, so one might have the first son, then the first daughter, then the second and third sons, then the second daughter, and so on.

    1. In time, I know that this is China, not Japan, but it’s not unlikely that the Japanese custom has been imported from China originally (as with so many other things).
