“Are really you telling me something so important?” Chen Mo solemnly asked.

“That Young Lord feels it important, Diaobing is a bit sorry. This is nothing more than a very small effort.” Diaobing said.

Chen Mo pondered, “Since this is the case, I’ll give you something.”

His Divine Intent moved.

A blue light flew out from his Astral Stone, whirling like a vortex as it emitted a snowstorm. Immediately afterwards, a quadruple-winged, completely crystalline, domineering Strange Beast appeared in the chamber.

“Young Lord, what are you raising?” Diaobing could not see, yet she still sensed something unusual.

The Vast Profundity Beast let out a low roar. Having slumbered inside the Astral Stone for so long, it was now awake and emitted a lively, oppressive aura. It looked curiously at Diaobing, and a fond glint flowed through its eyes.

“This is the Vast Profundity, an Ice-type Star Beast. It would be better to let it stay in this place with you.” Chen Mo smiled and said.

“A Star Beast?” Diaobing was shocked. “The Young Lord was actually even raising a Star Beast?” Star Beasts were able to cultivate Star Energy. Sometimes, they were even able to use a Star General’s characteristics to display even stronger powers. In Star World, Star Generals with even a single super first-rate Star Beast truly were like tigers that had grown wings. Oftentimes, they were able to provide unimaginable aid of their own volition.

In the Outer Star Fields, first-rate Star Beasts were practically extinct.

Diaobing clearly sensed that this “Vast Profundity” in front of her was massive in build, its whole body like ice, containing potential that was beyond imagination. It was a very good fit with her own Ice-type nature.

“En, this is something that I unintentionally saved from the clutches of a villain from the Inner Star Fields. I have no use for the Vast Profundity, and it would actually be a waste of its talents for it to remain at my side. Why not let it protect you.” Chen Mo magnanimously said.

“How could this be allowed…” Diaobing shook her head. This was the first time that the calm Princess Chang showed a bit of helplessness. “How can I accept a first-rate Star Beast.”

“Your Highness Diaobing, you are incorrect. A fine bird chooses the tree it wishes to nest in, and besides, perhaps the Vast Profundity itself is willing to accompany you.” Chen Mo looked at the Vast Profundity.

The Vast Profundity let out a deep and low rumble, as if indicating it wanted to be at her side. To the Vast Profundity, the ice-cold aura that the girl emitted from head to toe was very compatible with it. To be able to encounter such a Star General in the Outer Star Fields, a Star Beast like the Vast Profundity would be very happy to follow her.

Diaobing was still a bit hesitant. It was obvious that the girl’s thoughts were pure and simple yet also deliberate and meticulous, the so-called “not receiving a reward that was undeserved.” There was no reason to accept a man’s favor, so she more or less was somewhat uncomfortable.

“Just kindly accept the Vast Profundity. You and I have a connection now. In the future, when my Chen Family needs the help of Her Highness Princess Chang, you just need to look after us a bit more. Between the two of us, just treat this as an exchange among friends.” Chen Mo urged.

Diaobing sighed. She honestly was reluctant to part with the Vast Profundity Star Beast’s presence. This Vast Profundity had been at her side for mere moments, but she already felt much more relaxed than before. “Since this is the case, it would be impolite of Diaobing to refuse. Young Lord has helped heal Diaobing, and you allow a Star Beast to protect me. Diaobing feels that the favor can only be repaid with my body and soul.”

The girl joked in the end.

Chen Mo smiled. “Then I certainly will not refuse.”

“Then Diaobing must seriously consider this big, life-changing matter.” The girl feigned earnest consideration.

Chen Mo candidly laughed.

This girl was too interesting.

It was already the second evening when Chen Mo emerged from inside the volcano.

Seeing him safe and sound, Ting Nanyuan truly breathed a sigh of relief. She nearly though that Chen Mo had been killed by Huan Wen in the volcano. “How did Huan Wen not kill you?” The Wuyang Princess asked out of curiosity. As far as she knew, Huan Wen and the Chen Family were sworn enemies. If they had let Huan Wen find out about Princess Chang’s matters, she absolutely would have annihilated him.

“Did you do something universally offensive again?”

Skinship with Princess Chang could be considered atrocious. Chen Mo fake coughed and interrupted her gossip: “Huan Wen let me go because she wants to humiliate me in front of the world at the Title Bestowal Ceremony. If she took my life here, then that would be a shame upon her honor.”

“What honor is there in a Star General fighting a cultivator.” The Wuyang Princess quietly grumbled.

“Nanyuan, I have something small to take care of. Can you help me look after Nianyou for a moment.” Because the Zhi Ming Star Image was urgent, Chen Mo already did not have too much time to bring Nianyou back to Chang’an.

Ting Nanyuan agreed. To be able to play with such an innocent and adorable little sister was quite joyous for her.

However, little Nianyou was certainly not happy.

“Nianyou wants to go together.” Nianyou grabbed Chen Mo’s clothes, her large and bright eyes very resolute.

“But the place I’m going to will be a bit dangerous. Nianyou, can you play together with Nanyuan for now?” Chen Mo smiled and said.

“Nianyou wants to play with Big Brother.” Nianyou did not want to separate from him.

“Chen Mo, are you a man or not. Is there a place in the Tail Star Field that you cannot reach, I feel there is hardly anyone that can pose a threat to you.” Ting Nanyuan spoke up for Nianyou.

Seeing Nianyou’s lovely and pitiful expression, Chen Mo relented. Besides, he had been saved by Nianyou’s teleportation back at the Western Desert. “Okay.” Chen Mo nodded, and Nianyou happily pecked him on the cheek.

At the bottom of the volcano, Diaobing sat calmly in her wheelchair. If Ting Nanyuan were here, she definitely would be shocked to discover that Diaobing was not the same. Before, Diaobing was indeed like her name, like a sculpture of thousand year Black Ice, ice-cold and hard to approach. Although the current her was still emitting a chilling presence like before, her slightly curling lips and her relaxed brow showed the gentleness of snow.

Behind her was a domineering Strange Beast; the Vast Profundity prostrate on the ground like a servant, respectful and docile like a kitten.

Diaobing pet the Vast Profundity’s scales, “From now on, I will definitely make you and my Star Name echo throughout Star World.”

She softly promised.

The Vast Profundity called out, which was considered its response.

“If only at that time, he can personally witness it.”

Diaobing showed profound worry about the brazenness of a certain man who wanted to fight a Star General.

Chen Mo took Nianyou with him in the Nebula Flying Chariot, using a day and a night to reach the Great Chong Dynasty’s northernmost frontier town, “Wuding City.”1

Unlike the gracefulness and subtlety of the Great Chong Dynasty’s southern cities, Wuding City’s construction towered extremely high. The city walls were casted from molten iron and were incomparably thick. Even a Three Flowers Gathered Overhead warrior could not possibly shake it.

At first glance, Wuding City was simply a gigantic iron cage.

However, Chen Mo was slightly aware of why Wuding City was constructed so aggressively.

A belt of northern cities were all mostly like this when close to the Northern Barbarians. The Northern Barbarians belonged to the northern area of the Tail Fire Star Field,2 and they reportedly were spread across the continuous hundreds of thousands of mountain chains. Dwelling deep within this mountain area were extremely primitive clans.

They were distributed according to tribes, conducted activities by the day, and were dressed poorly. For all their lives, they lived in the middle of nature, mastering natural abilities; they had copper skins and iron bones. In the Great Chong Dynasty, these people were called Northern Barbarians.

The Great Chong Dynasty originally did not treat these Northern Barbarian mountains very favorably, but starting at some point in time, the Northern Barbarians began to yearn for the superior natural environment of Central Plains luxury, frequently launching incursions. Ever since the founding of the Great Chong Dynasty, the North had always been a place with heavy troop presence.

Although Nan Jiang’s gu arts caused the Great Ancestor Emperor’s demise, it was insufficient to constitute a menace from the perspective of an enormous dynasty. It was only these naturally gifted warrior Northern Barbarians, that had massacred a dozen cities, who nearly invaded Chang’an.

Chen Mo pondered whether or not to visit his big brother.

Big Brother Chen Qi had been posted in the north for more than a decade already. He was famous in the north and was the Supreme General of his generation. All the generals and leaders of the north’s towns followed his lead without question.

But on second thoughts, Chen Mo still dismissed this idea for now.

He had come to the north this time for the sake of the “Black Turtle of the Four Symbols Flying Swords.” Time was very short, and revealing his face would contrarily stir up trouble.

After Chen Mo entered Wuding City, he first checked into the largest “Peaceful Country Inn” and requested a room facing the mountain. Then, he closed the door and began to cultivate the Book Of Changes Black Turtle.

The the depths of night, CHen Mo suddenly opened his eyes and stared at a cup of tea on the table.

The tea in the cup was affected by some tremor, causing ripples to form.

“Hm?” Chen Mo stopped his cultivation and walked to the window, opening it.

He saw countless torches swarm towards the city like a giant serpent. An army of iron-armored soldiers tread into the city from the gates like rolling thunder.

Very quickly, countless people were jolted awake by the tremendous noise.

In the darkness, the light of lanterns quickly spread far and wide.

Chen Mo looked at the soundly sleeping Nianyou. He quietly got onto the roof and looked around sing the Deva Eyes. Very quickly, he figured out the information for this army. He saw these troops were clad in red iron armor and gripped podao. Their eyes were like tiger’s, and a “Northern” character was carved onto their faces, “Aren’t they the Northern Camp?”3

Of the Great Chong Dynasty’s Eight Great Camps, the Heaven Camp served directly under the Son of Heaven as an imperial guard; they were known as the strongest. The second best was the Fixed North Camp.4 The Fixed North Camp’s troops were all swift and fierce characters who reportedly trained deep in the mountains like the Northern Barbarians did. The Fixed North Camp’s commander was also none other than Big Brother Chen Qi. However, the Fixed North Camp was the lifeline of the entire northern front. Even if Chang’an should be in a state of emergency, they would never be dispatched back to the capital. Right now, Chen Mo saw there were surprisingly more than ten thousand of the Fixed North Camp’s troops mobilized here, and he felt something was strange.

The soldiers began to lift torches and begins searching from house to house. Very quickly, all of Wuding City was busy. Shouts and cries linked together as the soldiers searched around.

Urgent knocking came from his door at this time.

Chen Mo entered the room, and Nianyou had also been awakened. The little loli rubbed her drowsy eyes and looked at Chen Mo in confusion.

Chen Mo walked over and opened the door. The person knocking at the door was a waiter for the inn, and he said in a panic: “Dear Guest, something has happened.”

“What’s going on outside?” Chen Mo asked in displeasure.

“A wanted felon has fled into the city. Supreme General Chen Qi has sealed the entire city, and they are in the middle of a search. We ask for Dear Customer’s understanding.”

“What sort of person is evil enough to require Supreme General Chen Qi to set out?” Chen Mo asked.

The waiter shook his head, “Your Servant does not know. I only came to inform Dear Guest. Soon, the soldiers will come to inquire us. If you find any suspicious people, we hope Dear Customer will say something.”

“I understand.” Chen Mo nodded.

The waiter then rushed to knock on other doors and spread the word.

After Chen Mo closed the door, he turned his head back. The window shutters swayed slightly with the night breeze. “Nianyou, are you cold?” Chen Mo asked.

Little Nianyou nodded.

Chen Mo walked over and shut the window then looked through the pitch-black bedroom.

“Come out, Your Distinguished Self. The one that Supreme General Chen Qi is looking for must be you.” Chen Mo snapped his fingers, lighting some candles.

“Your big brother is certainly helping the tyrant Zhou in his tyranny.”

From the darkness came a warm and gentle voice. A pair of sparkling, lily-white hands hugged Nianyou from behind. Little Nianyou did not resist; she only turned her neck to look at the woman hugging her.

The candlelight illuminated a beautiful yet very wan complexion.

She slightly smiled.

“Weiyu!”

Chen Mo blinked.
