“Divine Cauldron?”
Yu The Great pondered after she listened to Qi Lin’s explanation. She said that she indeed heard Emperor Yao had summoned the lords to negotiate a few matters back then, seemingly about aspiring to the throne of the Northern Primordial and gain the allegiance of the lords. Later generations had always treated this aspiration to the throne literally, and they never imagined it would actually refer to something else.
“Given Emperor Yao’s style, this actually may be the case.” Yu The Great thought, believing that Bai Ze’s words were true.
“The only problem now is where would Emperor Yao have sealed the materials pertaining to casting the Divine Cauldron?” Qi Lin drank tea, having already pondered for days.
“They can only be at either Zhuolu or Mount Tu.” Yu The Great posited. The Northern Primordial had gone through millennia of war, and the Eight Desolate seemed to have been turned upside down. If there was some relic or tomb, it should already have been discovered. The only place that the Shaman Clan Divine Names did not dare to touch was Zhuolu, which was sacred ground. In particular, the Shaman Clan did not dare to even so much as dip a finger in Mount Tu.
“We can only go to Mount Tu to search for clues.” Qi Lin nodded.
“Wenming will have to trouble Elder Brother this time, too.” Yu The Great softly sighed.
Qi Lin smiled: “There’s no reason for us siblings to be so formal. Controlling the floods is a matter that benefits all things, so there’s nothing to trouble me with or not trouble me with.”
“If we can truly succeed in flood control this time, Wenming feels only Elder Brother can take up the mantle of being the king of the Northern Primordial.” Yu The Great said these words from the bottom of her heart. Qi Lin’s actions and conduct these past few days were all witnessed by Yu The Great and engraved into her heart. Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan and Chiyou vied for the position of king in a death match, yet Qi Lin, an outsider, viewed the Northern Primordial itself as more important. He sought out Bai Ze, slayed the Fuzhu and decided to cast the Nine Tripod Cauldrons. Any of these feats were comparable to the benevolence of the late Emperor Yao.
Qi Lin could not help but laugh. He actually had never thought of being king of the Northern Primordial.
“If we can succeed in flood control, then as your big brother, I will definitely help you become the divine emperor of the Northern Primordial, little sister.”
The siblings were just chatting about Mount Tu and the Divine Cauldron when an attendant’s voice came from outside the door.
“King Yu, Xuanyuanshi has come to meet you.”
“Very well.”
Yu The Great was perplexed: “Elder Sister Xuanyuan is about to invest as the Yellow Emperor at Yellow Mountain. Could she wish to persuade Yu?” However, even if she personally came to persuade…
“We will know when she arrives.”
Xuanyuanshi stepped into the room, and Yu The Great rose to greet her, personally pouring her tea. Xuanyuanshi spotted Qi Lin and was slightly surprised, saying: “We have not disturbed you two, yes?”
“Not at all. Is Elder Sister not occupied with your coronation as the Yellow Emperor, do you still have time to come see Little Sister?” Yu The Great elegantly sat down.
Qi Lin also sat to the side.
“Does Sister Wenming feel We have the qualifications to become the Yellow Emperor?” Xuanyuanshi sipped the tea and flatly asked.
“En, back then, Elder Sister in the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court had capabilities equal to Emperor Yao.” Yu The Great remained noncommittal.
Xuanyuanshi asked Qi Lin: “Qi Lin, what say you? We are very eager to hear your thoughts. As you are Si Wenming’s Elder Brother and have received her blessing, your judgment must also be keen.”
Qi Lin smiled. To be frank, Xuanyuanshi being called the Yellow Emperor was within his expectations, and there was no one in Primordial World who had better qualifications. “Sister Xuanyuan, I wish to ask why do you want to be crowned with this title, ‘Yellow Emperor?'”
Sister Xuanyuan?
This was the first time Xuanyuanshi had ever heard a man address her in this manner. Thinking about it, she concluded that as he was Yu The Great’s brother, this manner of address was proper etiquette.
“When we performed the Feng And Shan Sacrifices at Yellow Mountain, We became the Yellow Emperor. The earth of the Northern Primordial, its ten thousand li of yellow sand, all belong to Us.” Xuanyuanshi answered, domineering.
Yu The Great was silent.
Qi Lin said in a deadpan manner: “Then Sister Xuanyuan must know that across Heaven and Earth, one with great virtue can take charge of the world, and that the auspicious sign of earth is yellow. Not only is this just a name, it also represents Sister Xuanyuan’s character.”
“The auspicious sign of earth is yellow. Not bad, not bad, it seems We certainly are the Yellow Emperor.” Xuanyuanshi was very impressed with Qi Lin’s assessment: “Do you feel that We are unable to match this virtue?”
“Cultivating virtue, bolstering the army, controlling the Five Qi, harvesting the Five Grains, caring for the people, and governing the land. This Elder Sister ‘Yellow Emperor’ can assume these responsibilities.”
Qi Lin changed the topic: “But now that there are floods, if Sister Xuanyuan could quell the floods and help the people, when the time comes for Sister Xuanyuan to be crowned emperor, who can say no?”
Xuanyuanshi put down the teacup, fully aware he had always intended to speak about flood control: “These floods drown the Heavens, and We are powerless to fight back. If, Qi Lin, you have an even better solution, please feel free to speak with Us about it…” The woman narrowed her eyes, her tone full of hidden meanings.
“If there truly is one, I will certainly seek Sister Xuanyuan out for aid.” Qi Lin said with certainty.
Xuanyuanshi did not want to discuss this question, “We have come personally to seek Wenming out this time for a certain deity.”
“Deity?”
“Yu Shiqie, do you two recognize her?”
Feng Hou was behind and asked in place of the Yellow Emperor.
Ever since the failure of the demon extermination, Yu Shiqie had vanished. The last time Xian Zhen saw her, the girl said she would seek refuge. He did not think much of it, for when disaster loomed, one could not hope for everyone to be of the same mind. To suddenly hear Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan mention Yu Shiqie, Qi Lin was startled.
“It seems she was not lying. Qi Lin, you saved her life, yet she now has fled to the Jiang Tribe and appealed to Us for refuge.” The Yellow Emperor said.
“Then let Sister Xuanyuan protect her, that is fine.”
“She mentioned a Divine Name to Her Majesty, and Her Majesty wishes to invite this Divine Name to the ceremony at Yellow Mountain for the Feng And Shan Sacrifices, to be a public witness.” Feng Hou said forthrightly.
“What Divine Name could make Elder Sister step forward and offer a personal invitation?” Yu The Great calmly asked.
“‘Knower Of All Things’ Bai Ze!”
Of course, this was about her.
Back then, Bai Ze gave the Donghuang Taiyi an account of the Mirror Of All Immortals and could be described as a trusted confidant; she occupied a very high position in the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court. If she appeared during the coronation ceremony and swore allegiance to the Yellow Emperor, then perhaps those neutral tribes would sway towards the Yellow Emperor when the time came.
“This is difficult to accommodate. Bai Ze was previously injured and grievously at that. At the moment, she cannot move so easily.” Qi Lin emphatically declined. If he let the Yellow Emperor obtain Bai Ze, then the Ji Tribe would have no room to survive.
“We have heard that some deity vainly attempted to harm Bai Ze. However, is this not even more reason to allow Us to protect her instead? Can it be, Wenming, that you can protect her?” The Yellow Emperor was forceful, her tone allowing for no refusal.
“Then this must wait until Bai Ze recovers. I will ask for her opinion but right now, she is unable to go to Yellow Mountain. If Sister Xuanyuan is willing, the Feng And Shan sacrifices can be postponed.” Qi Lin was very resolute.
“Preposterous, how can the date of the Feng And Shan Sacrifices be changed so arbitrarily.” Feng Hou rebuked him.
The Yellow Emperor stopped Feng Hou’s anger. She stared at the man; his were truly a pair of very charming eyes, brimming with masculinity. “Si Wenming, do you feel the same?” She shifted her gaze and asked.
“Bai Ze is very safe under our protection. For the time being, she does not trust others at all. As for Elder Sister’s Feng And Shan Sacrifice, Wenming fears that she is unable to attend as well.” Si Wenming’s warm tone and Qi Lin’s eyes were similarly full of resolve.
As expected of brother and sister.
The Yellow Emperor nodded in admiration, having anticipated such a response.
“Then allow Us to go meet her. It is said that Bai Ze has eyes that can see through Heaven and Earth, reveal ghosts and gods, and recognize all demons. We have never seen the like.”
“Wait until Bai Ze recovers, then Wenming and I will personally request her.” Qi Lin said.
Feng Hou was displeased: “Can it be that Her Majesty is unable to even see Bai Ze?”
“Please forgive us, Elder Sister. Right now, Bai Ze is honestly unable to accept visitors.”
“Very well.”
With a final two curt words, the Yellow Emperor rose and walked towards the gate. At the threshold, she suddnely turned her head back, having recalled something. A beautiful smile appeared on the corner of her lips. “Even if Bai Ze is absent, We can still surpass the late Emperor Yao all the same, make the Northern Primordial swear allegiance to Us.”
…
Sending off Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan with his eyes, Qi Lin heaved a long sigh.
“Yu wonders if Elder Sister Xuanyuanshi will heed Elder Brother’s words about the auspicious sign of earth.” Yu The Greatly gently sighed. She still held Xuanyuanshi in very high esteem, but at the critical moment of these floods, the pair’s positions diverged. There was some matters that Yu The Great could not yield on.
“Leave her be.”
Qi Lin could not expect too much.
“Now that Bai Ze is being targeted by Xuanyuanshi, it appears she will not give up.”
“Bai Ze is a Divine Name of the Primal Chaos Heavenly Court who knew all things. If she has Bai Ze’s support, she will indeed be able to surpass Emperor Yao from back then.” Yu The Great paused: “Elder Brother, shall we go ask for Lady Wanfang’s opinion?”
“Let’s not think about this for the time being. The priority is to go find the secrets of the Divine Cauldron that Emperor Yao left behind. Let’s see whether or not we can cast the Divine Cauldron to suppress the formation. Just let Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan and Chiyou fight each other.”
“Alright. Tonight, Wenming shall go and look around Mount Tu with Elder Brother.”
“Don’t come with me. The Ji Tribe still needs your leadership. Besides, I’m also aware of the legend of Mount Tu. You Northern Primordial Divine Names are quite reverent. I’m an outsider, so I’m not afraid of this.” Qi Lin smiled. “And I’ve even slain the Fuzhu, are you still afraid I’ll be in danger?”
Yu The Great thought that Qi Lin’s words made sense, so she continued on.
…
“Your Majesty, Yu The Great has a man, and now she actually dared to defy you.”
On the way back, Feng Hou still brooded over the rejection just now.
“Yu The Great is not stupid. Should she turn Bai Ze over to Us, it will only be a matter of time before her Ji Tribe will be assimilated by Us. But…even if she declined Us, she has merely delayed. After We defeat Chiyou, the Divine Names of every tribe in the Northern Primordial will acknowledge Us as sovereign.”
“However, one thing you said was correct. After she met that man, Si Wenming has ceased being the slightest bit adorable.”
“A plucked flower withers on its own. That Yu The Great has so much faith in a man, she will come to suffer.” Feng Hou said with certainty: “The background of that man named Qi Lin is truly uncertain. He actually was able to kill the Fuzhu and obtain a blessing. Now, he has even rescued Bai Ze.” The more Feng Hou spoke, the more astonished she was because she discovered that ever since Qi Lin’s arrival in the Northern Primordial, his actions had become famous throughout the Northern Primordial, enough that he had the potential to succeed her.
“Your Majesty, Yu Shiqie mentioned that Emperor Yao left behind the secret to casting the Divine Cauldron. If we allow that man to obtain an actual solution to quelling the floods…I fear Your Majesty’s position will be put at risk, and he will have won the hearts of the millions throughout the Northern Primordial.” Feng Hou’s appearance was not exceptional at all. Among Divine Names, who were as beautiful as clouds, she was at most a delicate orchid, but her thoughtfulness was nevertheless very far-reaching, and she often had many perspectives.
A tree may long for peace, but the winds will not cease. This “wind” perfectly described her.
Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan sunk into contemplation: “Back then, We indeed heard that Yao wanted to cast a cauldron to safeguard the fortune of the Northern Primordial, but nothing ever came of that. We never expected it to be so close to completion…Feng Hou, what you said is reasonable. Whether the matter of the Divine Cauldron is true or not, we cannot leave it be. That Qi Lin cannot be allowed to again act outside of expectation.”
“Feng Hou and Zhi Jing1 are willing to seize the Divine Cauldron for Your Majesty.” Feng Hou volunteered.
“Let Us think on it more. Qi Lin was able to slay the Fuzhu; his Divine General is unfathomable, so there cannot be any mishaps.”
Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan noticed herself that this was the first time she was actually beginning to be wary of a man.
A mere God Transformation Realm man.
Yellow Emperor Xuanyuan could not help but jeer at herself.
A plucked flower withers on its own, but perhaps this Qi Lin could make that flower blossom even more beautifully.

…. Political calculation asid3, this is REALLY shortsighted on the would be Yellow Emperor’s part. Like, she could, I dunno, a9rk with Qi Lin and b9ost her rep? And I kinda feel like Bai Ze won’t readily agree to help her…
Well, I mean the fact that she’s bothering to fight Chiyou over a piece of land that may or may not end up getting flooded should tell us all what her priorities are. There’s no guarantee Zhuolu will remain a safe sanctuary forever, yet her focus is on a throne instead of resolving the real problem.
