Seven Dangers Mountain. An unwelcome guest had been staying at the Shang Tribe for the past few days. Shang Qi,1 the head of the tribe, properly entertained this guest, celebrating with song and dance, offering fine food and wine.
“Lord Huang Feihu, this ‘White Dew Jasper Elixir’ was fermented from the Seven Danger Mountain’s ‘White Dew Bird’ for ten years. Milord, how is it?” Shang Qi was a large, full bearded man with thick eyebrows and big eyes. He was the elder of the Shang Pixiu tribe, yet he was currently currying favor with the woman seated in the middle.
That woman had shapely brows and was draped in robes and armor. She wore her hair in a snake bun, exposing her wheat-colored skin, and she took large swigs of liquor from the overflowing cup in her hand.
There was additionally a man beside the woman. He was elegant and cultured, but his eyes contained a hint of viciousness that destroyed his outward kindliness. He answered for the woman: “Passable. It’s a bit better than the Shang Bear Tribe’s ‘Fallen Leaf,’ but it cannot compare to the Shang Tiger Tribe’s lost ‘Intense Intoxication.'”
Shang Qi forced a smile. The Shang Bear and Shang Tiger Tribes were others of the Ten Thousand Beasts Barbarians Branches. They were all considered the Yin Shang Kingdom.2
And the man and woman in front of them could be considered Yin Shang Kingdom’s emissaries.
The Invested Deity Emissary.
Although that man was barely Qi Refinement Seventh Deva in Realm. He was completely beneath Shang Qi’s True Qi Ninth Deva, but that woman had inherited the Ancient Star Name Huang Feihu. The Shang Tribe’s people were also forced to be deferential.
“The Shang Tiger Tribe’s people said that you had a daughter who is the absolute beauty of the Ten Thousand Beasts Barbarians, why isn’t she here?” The man licked his lips.
“We dare not hide anything, Emissary. Some time ago, Shang Xuan, a child of our tribe suffered an accident during a hunt. His location is unknown. He was the sweetheart of my Dear Daughter. She is distraught and is currently not with the tribe.” Shang Qi sighed.
“That truly is regrettable. However, we have other tribes that we must inform. We will come see you again should the opportunity arise.” The man seemingly smiled.
Huang Feihu was displeased: “Pang Bi,3 could another woman be so beautiful?”
Pang Bi smiled: “Of course, no one can compare to you, Houyan.”4
“From what Emissary says, the Great King is convening the ‘Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded.’ Why?” An elder of the Shang Bear Tribe asked.
“Now that the Register Of Deities has opened once more, the era is yet again in a time of life and death. Chiyou has been born in the north. Xiangliu and Qiongchan have revolted in the east, and they say in the south that Fiend Stars like Ji Fa and Ying Zheng desire to seize the Yin Shang’s destiny. Di Xin is also planning ahead, convening the Ten Thousand Beasts Unbounded out of fear for variables.
“Your Servant did not expect so many variables to appear at once for the Register Of Deities.” Shang Qi was slightly astonished.
“Has the Pixiu Tribe’s ‘Pixiu Banner’ been prepared?”
“The tribe’s martial arts competition is at the beginning of next month. We will choose the strongest warrior in the tribe to safeguard the banner.”
“I do not care for your arrangements. In short, you all must hurry to Zhaoge. Those that disobey will have their entire tribe annihilated!” Huang Feihu sneered.
The Shang Pixiu Tribe’s people prostrated themselves like cicadas and made assurances.
Seeing them so tactful, the woman was immensely pleased.
After drinking some more, Huang Feihu made the Shang Pixiu Tribe’s people engage in a martial arts competition. After watching several warriors, Huang Feihu also gave applause. With the third round of drinks, with the atmosphere so intense, Pang Bi suddenly asked: “Right, I heard there is a strange stone in the wilderness nearby. I hear it can consume True Qi?”
“Indeed there is such a stone. Any cultivator who approaches will have their True Qi devoured by the stone. That place is one that not even ebasts will approach. The tribes in the vicinity all call it Heaven-devouring Stone.” Shang Qi explained.
“Ci’er, you were hunting not long before with Shang Kui. Did you go see that Heaven-devouring Stone?” Shang elder Shang Wei5 looked at his son.
The young man, who had been drowning his sorrows, shuddered. He fearfully said: “Son does not dare approach. I only hunted some beast pelts in the surroundings.”
“Ci’er, you are the favorite to be this generation’s banner bearer, how can you be so disappointing.” Shang Wei was displeased.
Shang Ci had just been thinking over the matter of Shang Xuan. He had sent Shang Kui to check the situation, but there had been no news for days. To hear the Heaven-devouring Stone’s name all of a sudden, there was terror in his heart. The young man awkwardly said: “Son merely worries for Yangjun. I fear something happened to her.”
“Yangjun is the genius of this tribe. You do not need to worry about her. But seeing as how you are so concerned about her, Yangjun will understand.” Shang Wei smiled at Shang Qi.
Shang Qi nodded.
“To think something like this happened, indeed, these wildlands are filled with unfathomable mysteries.”
Pang Bi cast Huang Feihu a glance. The woman showed a knowing smile.
…
In a nameless wilderness, beside a creek, a large rock sat amongst trees.
A man stood on top of this more than two meter tall stone. He treated the stone as an opponent, slightly cupping his hands as if in salute, his attitude very earnest. If anyone saw this, they would have thought that they had encountered a nutjob. But the moment he cupped his hands and bent his waist, his entire body suddenly erupted with True Qi.
His cupped fist flew forth with unbelievable speed.
His salutation instantly became a malicious, murderous aura.
Boom, boom, boom.
Three loud explosions.
The heavy boulder exploded in half. A large piece fell into the ice-cold river and drifted away.
Qi Lin reset his footing and stood tall, maintaining his cupped fist gesture, the bearing of a kind gentleman. There was no sign that the violence from before had ever come from his hands at all.
“Quiet as a gentleman, poised and elegant. Active like a general, whose fist is as a shooting sat. Yin and Yang intermingle, and Qian and Kun are at hand…” Qi Lin glanced at his palms. One burned while the other was cold. He put his hands together, changing his activity and stillness effortlessly, showing no sign.
All things discard obscurity and embrace brightness, in harmony with emptiness.
The dual modes was the ultimate mystery of primordial cultivation. This “Dual Modes Seal” ability was much more formidable than Qi Lin had thought. Every change and transformation was dazzling, and it was virtually unstoppable.
“My Nine Yins Nine Yangs Fortune Heaven is now already at Two Yins Two Yangs. My Second Deva True Qi can reach Fourth Deva True Qi at best. If combined with the Dual Modes Seal, I can even reach Sixth or Seventh Deva True Qi, this is so extraordinary.” Qi Lin muttered.
“Congratulations, Emissary. In just a few short days, you have already reached this level.” The white ape faintly smiled.
Qi Qi stood to the side. She looked at that heavy boulder next to her and gently punched it.
The boulder disintegrated into nothingness.
As if it was nothing special.
Qi Lin wiped his sweat. The Great Sage Equal Of Heaven was formidable indeed.
“If Emissary dies, that would affect the Divine Name. What is important for Emissary right now is to be able to protect yourself, to increase your strength.” The white ape warned.
Qi Lin once again put on the Universe Origin Five Elements Shackles and sat cross-legged. Three days of cultivation should more or less put him at a breakthrough to Qi Refinement Third Deva.
Qi was the master of blood, blood was the mother of qi. Qi circulated blood, yet qi stagnated blood. Cultivators seven Earthly Fiend Meridians and two Heavenly Spirit Meridians that channeled inner astral qi from the meridians into the bones, cleansing the marrow from inside out.
At True Qi Ninth Deva, to able to circulate qi in a microcosmic orbit was to form Astral Qi First Deva, achievable by anyone with just a little bit of force. To enter Second Deva Heaven, however, was more difficult. One needed to channel True Qi throughout their body, to their limbs and bones, to circulate the macrocosmic orbit, in which case all bodily strength would multiply tenfold.
If one wanted to reach Astral Qi Third Deva, it was necessary to use martial arts for the breakthrough, to join with the third layer of meridians. Only with profound martial arts could one find these meridians and circulate to a third macrocosmic orbit. However, True Qi Seventh Deva merely connected a cultivator’s Earthly Fiend Meridians. The last tow Heavenly Spirit Meridians were the most difficult. If one could break through, they would be an absolute expert.
Qi Lin very quickly used True Qi to sense the third layer of meridians. Simple True Qi smoothly followed his control, rising to his head, pooling down at his feet. True Qi filled his entire body, washing his organs.
He had the Nine Yins And Nine Yangs Fortune Heaven as a foundation, forging the dual modes physical constitution. In addition to the Great Chapter Heavenly Immortal Chant’s fortune, cultivating to True Qi Ninth Deva was simply as natural as a fish in water. By nightfall, the third Earthly Fiend Meridian was linked with True Qi.
Although Qi Refinement Third Deva cultivation was not high, the current Qi Lin felt it was enough to return to the tribe.
It was time to resolve Shang Xuan’s final request.
Qi Lin discussed his plan with Qi Qi. The girl offered no opinion at all, for she also felt that staying in the wilderness to cultivator was quite tedious. In addition, she planned to go to the eastern sea and obtain her Divine Weapon, the Ruyi Jingu Bang.
“Hm!”
All of a sudden, Qi Qi shot up. She stared into the distance, her golden pupils gradually turning dark.
Qi Lin saw her grave expression and asked: “What’s the matter?”
“Someone is coming.”
“Shang Xuan’s people?” Qi Lin frowned.
A galloping air of arrogance seemed to roll up like a surging tidal wave. The forest parted layer by layer, and Qi Lin felt an intense pounding in his heart. An immense and scorching heat spread out.
“Star General!” The white ape jumped to the side and hid.
“Star General?” Qi Lin was taken aback.
“Cultivator?”
A man and woman had already arrived at the bottom of the cliff and were equally perplexed.

The first real mid boss appeared! Dunno why, but I’m reminded of Xun Huo and Liu Qing’s role in the story….
Maybe it’s cuz the vibe feels similar to the first story? I dunno.
Qi Qi seems a l9t elfriendlier to her contractor than Yingmei did tho.
I mean, Yingmei had a reputation of “having never contracted with anyone” to uphold as the current Majestic Star.
